Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Despite how especially full the apprentices' den was now, it was mostly empty today, save for Pikepaw, Weevilpaw, Fisherpaw, Guppypaw, and Bluepaw. Briefly, he wondered where the others had gotten off to, but the stirring of unkempt gray fur beside him vanquished these thoughts as his eyes fell upon his best bud. "Mornin', sleepyhead," mrrowed the golden tom with a note of humor in his tone, Pikepaw extending a paw to dislodge some moss that had nestled itself behind Weevilpaw's ear, and he noted not for the first time that it was always strange to see his friend in the early morning, head barren of any floral crowns since Weevilpaw knocked them off every night during his tossing and turning. His own, personally woven one was still kept protectively near to his nest, even though the flowers were beginning to wilt.
"I haven't seen any of the mentors passing by this morning. I think they're being lazy or patrolling today," he said as the rest of their denmates began to stir. "We should do something fun today before they come back. Can't make us do any work if we aren't here, yeah?" Maybe the plan wasn't totally fool proof, but none of his dreary-eyed friends seemed to be jumping to offer any suggestions of their own, so Pikepaw was already making his way to his paws and giving his pelt a quick shake.

Fisherpaw rose to his feet in his nest and stretched languidly, his jaws wide open in an exaggerated yawn. "Fun sounds better than work any day," he said before sitting down to groom himself. "I've been working so hard the past few days, it's been ridiculous. We all deserve a break. What do you have in mind?"
"Huh?" Bluepaw squinted at her friends through bleary half-closed eyes, clouds of sleep still fogging her brain as Pikepaw's voice disturbed her. "Who's not here?" she mumbled at him, only catching the very last few words of his sentence.
Her ears twitched up at Firepaw's mention of fun, the sleepiness fading somewhat as she rolled to her feet, shaking her pelt to dislodge scraps of moss that had clung to her fur. "Oooh, are we going somewh-" she inadvertently cut herself off mid-sentence as her jaws stretched open in an uncontrollable yawn. "-ere?"
Fisherpaw yawned widely. "Cut that out," he complained to Bluepaw. "Yawning is contagious." He went over to the den's entrance and looked out. "No one's around," he announced after retreating back into the den.
"Alternatively, you could let me sleep for five more minutes...or hours..." Weevilpaw replied half-jokingly, trying to bury his head deeper into his moss nest to block out the sunlight coming from the den's entrance. He peaked up at Pikepaw through a squinted yellow-green eye, letting out an amused snort as his best friend tried to untangle some of the moss stuck in his fur, watching contentedly as his friends slowly began to wake up and chat with each other. Instead of following their example and getting up, he just rolled over lazily, lying on his back and staring at Fisherpaw and Bluepaw upside down. He smirked at them mischievously for a moment, before purposefully letting out a loud yawn. "Then there's no one to be mad at us for sleeping in. Even better."
"You'd sleep all day if you could," Pikepaw snickered in response to Weevilpaw's complaint, but he was already up and moving away. "We could go back to the ocean..." He replied to Fisherpaw, whiskers twitching unhappily at the memory of their disappointing discovery, "...but remember how tiny it was? Maybe we should find our own ocean today! Something super big and endless, and Ratstar will be so impressed that we'll all be named top apprentices!" Excitement was beginning to churn in his stomach, Pikepaw's dreams always larger than himself, as he looked expectantly from one cat to the next.

After yawning once again because of Weevilpaw, a wry smile lit Fisherpaw's features as he recalled their elicit adventure as kits. It was both exhilarating and disappointing at the same time. Being out of the camp on their own was exciting but discovering the small stream and mistaking it for the ocean was a huge let down for him.
"You're right! Why don't we go to the real ocean today? I've been wanting to see it ever since I was made an apprentice, well actually long before that. My mentor hasn't taken me that far yet but he told me where to find it."
"Ooh, yeah!" Bluepaw enthused, ears perking up at the idea of Ratstar naming the gang top apprentices. "Do you think we'll see any sea monsters when we're there? Ratstar would be totally impressed if we like, caught one and brought it back," she said, vaguely remembering a story she had heard from one of the elders as a kit about great scaly creatures that lurked in the waves. They could feed the clan for days if they caught one, never mind that Bluepaw barely knew how to hunt regular-sized prey on land.
Fully awake now and ready for the adventures to begin, she prodded Weevilpaw's ribs with a paw. "C'mon, sleepyhead!"
Bluepaw's story brightened Pikepaw's sunshine gaze even more, if it were possible. "We could definitely do that! It would be five against one!" If there was any sleepiness left in him, it was dispelled by now, sheer energy buzzing off the tom. Once they were all finally up and moving, albeit sluggishly in Weevilpaw's case, he bounced out of fbe den ahead of them and made a swift beeline for the camp entrance. There were a few warriors present, Satinshore unabashedly flirting with Cow despite him insisting that wasn't his name, but no one took any particular notice of the five apprentices charging out of camp. "I don't think they saw us," breathed Pikepaw unnecessarily.

"It wouldn't matter if they did," Fisherpaw meowed. "We're apprentices now not like the last time we went to see the 'ocean'. We're allowed out of the camp as long as our work is done." There was always the danger some warrior might want them to do something but he figured at this time of the morning that was unlikely.

Weevilpaw was only half-listening, letting out a reluctant groan as Bluepaw prodded him and forced the apprentice to get up already. Unlike the others, he sauntered along carelessly across the camp, not particularly caring if anyone saw him. The trail of moss that had been shaken off of his pelt and scattered across camp would have been obvious enough. Though it wasn't like any warrior would actually be willing to punish the leader's son, after all. "So..." he meowed, quickly ducking his head away from Fisherpaw when he felt another yawn coming on, his flower-crown falling lopsided against his head. "Which ocean are we going to again? Aren't there like, two of them? I swear I've heard my Dad mention something like that once."

"My mentor said there's only one ocean," Fisherpaw meowed. "We have a lake on our northern border, the one with SpringClan. He took me there on my first day out. It's pretty big but he said you can't see across the ocean." He was anxious to get a look at this ocean he's heard so much about.
"Yeah, but you never know who's looking out and which warriors are in bad moods," Pikepaw replied to Fisherpaw, thinking of how Satinshore could be testy before her morning grouse. His ears swiveled forward as Weevilpaw mentioned not just one but TWO oceans and the spunky tom could hardly contain himself, bouncing from paw to paw. "Well, the only way to find out if there's two and that's to find them both! Maybe the other one will be bigger than what we found," he added hopefully, trotting ahead with his legs hiking high against his chest.

"Believe me when I tell you the lake to the north is much bigger than that stream we found when we were kits," Fisherpaw told Pikepaw. "And I know something else too," he continued proudly. "You can drink the water from the lake but not the ocean." He thought back to the time he had been to the lake and drank it's refreshing water.
"Woooow, you're quite the know-it-all, ain't ya pal?" Weevilpaw playfully teased, lightly bumping Fisherpaw with his shoulder as he padded ahead of the other apprentices. As his light-grey fur billowed in the breeze, a leaf became untangled and hit Pikepaw in the face before flying away. "Whelp," he continued, completely oblivious. "I'm headed to whichever has the fresh water; that way I can have a cool drink with whatever I manage to catch for breakfast."
