Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Ghostcrown had failed his family. He had known that for a while now, but he didn’t have the strength to fix it... He had been barely holding himself together for moons and he couldn’t expend the energy to protect Jetfire, her family, and his own. He should have put his own kits first, he should have done everything he could to save them, but it was easier to protect the queen who wanted him there than his children. She needed him, and he convinced himself they didn’t, and his own heroism has doomed them. Doomed him. He thought then that he nist had to fix himself, fix everything else, and then they would understand and come back to him ... but he knew now that was a mistake. Ghostcrown wasn’t done making mistakes, he could do one thing right. He could fight with all his being to regain his family’s trust and be in their lives.
If they would have him.
The jet black tom held his breath as he approached his daughter, but when he met her gaze he couldn’t help but melt. “Spiritlake,” he purred, tasting the name on his tongue, “I’m so, so proud of you.” He nuzzled her ear and rested his head on the top of hers, cradling her close, until he took a step back and looked her up and down. “I know it’s a lame way to start being a warrior, but how do you feel about spending some time with your old Dad?”
"Spending time with you isn't lame, although the way you phrased the proposition sure was," Spiritlake chuckled, returning Ghostcrown's nuzzle albeit a little more rushed. She wasn't the most outwardly affectionate she-cat but had a soft spot for her father, "What exactly did you have in mind?"
The black-and-white she-cat had changed a lot from the fiery little apprentice back in SunClan. Spiritlake had almost fully bought into the desert Clan's way of life, so much so that she had very nearly decided to stay behind when the rest of her family had decided to leave. She'd been forced to choose between her Clan and her family. It should have been a lot easier than it was, but SunClan had a way of latching onto you and refusing to let go... Why am I thinking about this now?
Her left ear flicked back slightly, a tell-tale sign that something was amiss, but she quickly recovered and turned her attention back to Ghostcrown, awaiting his answer.
Ghostcrown laughed too, feeling a little high off her acceptance. Even after Jetfire told him she loved his brother, he had wondered what his feelings for her were. He'd been too deep in the weeds to even try and decipher how he felt, they had agreed to wait, and he had lost his chance. But Ghostcrown didn't feel sorry. He had seen how happy she was with Firetooth, had seen how profoundly she affected him, and he knew there was a spark he and Jetfire didn't have. But more than that, he couldn't imagine any she-cat could make him as happy as spending a day with his kits. How had he nearly lost them?
He relaxed and shook his head a few times. His eyes caught on the motion of her ear, and there was a question in his gaze, but he didn't ask. There would be time later. "I'm not lame, huh? Does that make me," Ghostcrown leaned in, his mischievous grin blazing from ear to ear, "the cool dad?"
"... You know what, don't answer that. I already know the answer," he assured her with a wink, righting himself again. Of course Ghostcrown was the coolest dad. He just needed to get his confidence back, that was all. "I want to do something that's important to you. I helped Desertpa-- Desertwind with one of his experiments, and I want to know what you love that much. . . . Unless that's too intense for a first day out."
"Umm..." Spiritlake was seconds away from saying 'no,' but Ghostcrown managed to spare himself the shame by cutting her off. Clearing her throat, she was all too eager for the change in subject but... why did it have to be Desertwind? Well, maybe now was as good a time as any to start to try and patch up that relationship.
"Nothing's more important to me than my family," She began, testing the waters, "But for whatever reason I can never get in Desertwind's good graces. No matter what I try, he keeps turning his nose up to me like I'm his worst enemy or something. I want to patch things up but he won't even listen to me. Can you help me resolve things with him? Heck, do you even know what his beef is? I don't even remember anymore."
