The deep purples and oranges of twilight painted the horizon as dusk began to slowly settle on the mountains. Beneath that colored sky, Firetooth was silently trekking through an open, snow-covered field only a few minutes out from Swiftclan's current camp, scanning the area for any signs of plant life where fresh herbs might be found. The ginger tom shivered involuntarily as a chilly breeze suddenly whipped by, sending a powdery cloud of snow flying up and landing on his back. Groaning in annoyance, he silently prayed the weather would warm up sooner rather than later; his short pelt did him absolutely no favors in the cold. But he had to keep searching nevertheless. Beestar hadn't said anything to him, or anyone else for that matter, but he could definitely tell from the new leader's recent demeanor: Swiftclan would be picking up and moving to a new camp soon. The Medicine Cat wasn't sure when or where, or if the leader himself even knew those specifics, but he had a deep feeling it was coming, and he needed to be prepared...for the sake of Jetfire and her newborn kits at the very least. Unfortunately it didn't look like this area would yield any productive results. Letting out a deep sigh, he glanced up towards the sunset, watching it in peaceful, contemplative silence for a few moments.

A figure trekked upon the snow feeling determination in each step even if the snow was terribly cold. Breezestep and Ghostcrown had to be around here somewhere. Last time the tabby heard the clan had gone around here somewhere, although loners and rouges weren't the most reliable sources. Despite it all Echo had a hunch, almost a feeling like she was going in the right place but wasn't completely sure. Still she couldn't give up and especially after making the promise to herself. She had to keep going forward. The sun set wasn't the best news to her but she had to admit that rest for the night would come soon. Looking around Echo searched for a small den or bush she could use for shelter until a familiar scent hit her nose. No way...she had to be wrong this couldn't be right... definitely had to be her imagination. But what if it wasn't? What if he was here? Looking for the source she came around the corner with a suprised look upon her face, cerulean eyes wide.
Firetooth had leaned down over a patch of uncovered grass, sniffing around for herbs before letting out a displeased snort as some snow went up his nose. He sat back up, indignantly wiping the flakes off of his muzzle when he heard the sound of crunching pawsteps in the snow. At first, he just assumed it was one of his clanmates...except that scent wasn't Swiftclan. The Medicine Cat's head snapped around, staring down a somewhat scrawny she-cat just a fox-length away from him, who looked just about as startled as he was. He froze, unsure of whether to approach, or say something, or simply run. If this loner chose to attack him, he'd stand absolutely no chance, but they were close enough to camp that if he cried out, he was certain a large number of his clanmates would come running and scare her off. And yet, for some reason, he couldn't bring himself to move at all. This stranger...looked familiar to him. Where had he seen that face before? How did he know...?

"Firetooth, is that really you??" It hadn't occurred to the she cat that Firetooth would be around anywhere...honestly she hadn't thought much about him to her slight embarrassment. When she heard that Breezestep and Ghostcrown might be somewhere near by she grew curious and dare she say it excited. Seeing Firetooth in the flesh was not something she was expecting at all. There were so many emotions to sort through she couldn't comprehend them all at once. For a moment she stood there not moving nor speaking as her mind completely shut down and went blank. Taking a deep shaky breath gaining her composure back she gave a small smile, the best she could do with everything going on, and spoke somewhat quietly. "Yeah it's me...I uh go by Echo now but yeah...I'm back around I guess. I don't really know where I am but I'm back...hoping to find everyone." She looked down at her paws with the last statement once again feeling overwhelmed by so many emotions.

"So you're alive after all..." Without thinking, Firetooth moved to take a step forward, only to hesitate half-way through the motion, his front paw dangling uselessly in the air over a patch of snow. In all honestly, he had never considered that his sister might still be alive. It had been so long - several winters - since he had last seen her; he hadn't even recognized her at first. It took a few moments for it all to sink in. Then, as he began to realize that he wasn't, in fact, imagining things or hallucinating, the shock faded away and was replaced by a flurry of mixed and conflicting emotions. The Medicine Cat wasn't sure if he wanted to run up and embrace his long-lost sister, or claw her ears in aggravation for having abandoned their family for so long. For making Breezestep believe her daughter had been lost to her. After a few tense moments, he decided on doing neither. "You're looking for Mom, right?" He meowed evenly, turning in the direction he had come from and gesturing with his tail for Echo to follow. "Come on, Swiftclan's camp isn't far. We have some extra prey, and an extra nest."

Echo finally felt one emotion over take all the others: nervousness. This is what she wanted, to see her mother and her brother but she was also terrified. To face everything she had done...to face all of the mistakes she had made...to admit her sins in hopes to purge them and ask for forgiveness. To be a better individual. This kind of thing isn't easy to do but she owed it to her family and especially her father whom she wished to make proud. Taking one more shaky breath she got to her paws and followed her bother to Swiftclan. Quietly as if almost a whisper the she cat said, "Thank you Firetooth..." The tabby's heart pounded in her chest which she could easily hear and felt like it would burst at any moments. Making sure to keep as close as she could in this situation she kept her gaze to the ground.
If the Medicine Cat had heard Echo's words at all, Firetooth neither responded or acknowledged it, instead keeping his eyes forward as he silently led her through the woods and bramble until the pair had reached Swiftclan's makeshift camp. Despite it being early evening, there were still quite a number of cats out; a small group of kits playing mossball by what was most likely the nursery, a circle of she-cats gossiping by the fresh-kill pile, and a number of warriors off on their own, grooming themselves or napping. One of the she-cats, a pretty silver tabby with long fur, glanced up curiously when she noticed the pair approaching, before grinning brightly at them. "Hey, Firetooth~! Who's your new friend?" she called out with a purr of laughter, "Don't tell me you've managed to convince another cat to join Swiftclan!"
"Sliprabbit, I've never been able to convince anyone of anything in my entire life," Firetooth retorted, rolling his eyes. "And I sure as Starclan am not about to start today. Now, go be useful for once and fetch me Breezestep, would you? I have a guest for her." The interaction was...strange, at least from Echo's point of view. Her brother's words were as rude and sarcastic as she remembered, but it was obvious from his tone and body language that he wasn't actually annoyed with the other she-cat at all. Instead almost...playful? "Ugh, fiiiiiiiine. You got it, herbbrain!" With an equally snarky reply, this Sliprabbit jumped up to her paws the Medicine Cat's instructions, teasingly sticking her tongue out at him before darting across the camp into one of the dens. "Hey, miss Breezestep~! You've gotta visitor outside!" Cleaverracer
"A visitor, for me?" Breezestep looked up in surprise from where she lay in her nest. She had been sleeping longer and deeper than she used to, old age finally catching up to her now, and she would be retiring soon. But who would come all this way to see an old queen? There were few cats outside of the clan that would want to see her these days. Ghostcrown told her his son Devotedcrow had a litter of kits now, but surely they wouldn't bring the little ones this far from their home. As she rose to her paws carefully, she couldn't help feeling a little hopeful that Pond had come to visit. It had been so long since she'd seen her son, he hated his family so virulently but maybe he had changed as Firetooth had. It was a silly wish and she knew that, but she was a mother, she always wanted to have her family back.
She rose gracefully to her paws and followed Sliprabbit from the den, looking about curiously until her pale blue gaze fell upon a familiar figure. Breezestep gasped. Then she bounded across the camp at full speed and embraced her daughter, burying her face in her fur and wrapping her forelegs around Echo's neck to hug her closer, a steady purr rumbling in her throat and growing ever louder. She was on the verge of breaking into tears, but she sniffed and held herself back, her voice still quivering as she whispered,

Seeing Firetooth being playful while not really being annoyed stunned Echo. Sure time had passed and they were all older now but to truly see that he had changed was something she had a hard time grasping. Then again she too had changed...no longer was she the same cat he knew either. Who knows how the others were or if they were the same either. She was only momentarily lost in thought before she heard Sliprabbit rush over to get her mother. Now that too caused her mind to explode in so many questions, worries, and a new wave of nervousness. Her mother had always been loving but what if she held anger to Echo? Or was ashamed or embarrassed by her daughter in anyway? In truth she knew that whatever came her way next she deserved it. So the she cat prepared herself for how her mother would react to her.
When she saw Breezestep it felt like time had momentarily stopped. Her mother was older like they all were but she still had the same look in her eyes she always had towards her children. Echo didn't realize how much she truly loved or missed her mother until this very moment. Then time sped up quickly as her mother rushed towards her daughter. As Breezestep held Echo the she cat felt close to tears herself. She hadn't realized how good it felt to be in her mother's loving paws and feeling the strong purr she had. Echo now knew that she had been missed and her mother only ever loved her stubborn daughter. Hearing her old name in a quivering voice from Breezestep, Echo lost her voice for a short moment and only nodded as she leaned closer to her mother. After a few moments of silence the tabby finally spoke. "I really missed you so much...I took you for granted and I truly regret that. I regret I couldn't have been with you more or...the others as well. I'm sorry for leaving you alone for so long. I don't plan on doing that again if it can be helped. It's so good to see you again. And... call me Echo for now. I'm not the same cat Airecho once was. I've changed...maybe hopefully for the better. I hope you can forgive me for everything mother."
Firetooth stood away to the side, watching the heartfelt reunion from a distance with an unreadable expression on his face. He hadn't doubted for a moment that Breezestep would welcome her daughter back with open paws; that was just the way their mother was, more loving, patient, and forgiving than any other cat in the forest or beyond. She must be, for putting up with the bitter and resentful Medicine Cat that he used to be for so long, before Autumngossamer, Jetfire, and Ghostcrown knocked some sense into him. Speaking of which... "I'll go track down big brother," he meowed to the pair of she-cats before turning towards the direction of the nursery. "Starclan forbid he miss a scene as saccharine as this." Knowing Ghostcrown as well as he did, the warrior was most likely with Indigopastels and Jetfire, helping to entertain the sisters' kits. He could probably also introduce Jetfire to Echo while he was at it, though he wasn't sure how well his sister would take the news of him breaking the Medicine Cat code. ...Not that he cared about Echo's opinion or anything. In the nursery, Jetfire slowly began to unwind herself from around her new borns. Her older kits were wanting to go out to play, and even though she was exhausted she knew that if they didn't get some of their energy out that they would only wake up the younger ones. Firetooth had nearly constantly been at her side since they had born, but now that she was finally stable and recovering she had encouraged him to go out and get some fresh air and stretch his legs. She wasn't expecting him to return quiet so quickly, almost walking into him as their kits bounced around her paws "Firetooth" she purred, her eyes lighting up as she realized that he had returned
He walked forward and pressed her nose to his cheek "back so soon?" she asked, trying to hide how happy it made her just to have him back at her side. She didn't want him to feel guilty about leaving her alone long enough to take care of himself. Firetooth was the clan's medicine cat, and she couldn't take up all of his attention.
"Oh, you be quiet," Breezestep huffed, pulling back to look her daughter sternly in the eye. She sniffed again as she found her resolve and her voice became steady and fierce. "There is nothing for me to forgive, Echo. You're my daughter. You're supposed to take me for granted; that means I was doing my job. You shouldn't thank me for anything." Breezestep paused as if she had more to say, but instead, she just hugged Echo close once more before letting her go, reluctantly allowing the rest of the family to greet her. She stuck herself right to Echo's side, though, and refused to step away for even a second.
Ghostcrown, of course, had been with Jetfire; but he had sat up a moment earlier, his ears pricked and a strange expression on his face. He heard something, but he wasn't sure what, not until he saw Firetooth's face. He might think he was unreadable, but they were brothers, and he immediately picked out the change in his expression, and he stepped from the den in wonder. Was that Airecho? Grinning, the jet black tom shot across the clearing and skidded to a halt in front of his sister, touching noses with her in a light greeting. "Well, it's about time you got here! You know how long I've been waiting for you to meet my kits?"

Echo was warm inside, her mother hadn't changed at all and easily forgave her. The she cat didn't realize how happy she was that her mom was still around and wouldn't leave her anytime soon. Before she knew it a familiar figure came bounding over that brought another smile across her face. She touched noses with Ghostcrown and even gave him a small headbutt. Her mother, Firetooth, and Ghostcrown were here...so many of her family members were...and then to be told there was more?? She was an aunt. Huh, how neat! "It's so good to see you Ghostcrown. I've missed you too...and what's this about kits? You're a father now? Congratulations, I'm happy for you! Of course I'd love to meet them sometime." And the she cat truly meant every word of it.
A bright smile crossed Firetooth's face seeing Jetfire in the nursery. He hadn't even been gone that long, yet he felt so happy to be back by her side once again. He leaned into her touch, nuzzling her lovingly while watching Ghostcrown curiously leave the den from the corner of his gaze. Of course his brother immediately picked up on what was going on, the Medicine Cat didn't even need to say anything to him. "I had a bit of an interruption from my work," he explained simply, turning his head to stare out into the clearing and see his brother and sister reunite. "My sister Echo. I haven't seen her in seasons, not since before I joined Swiftclan..." he trailed off, his voice uncertain. Obviously Breezestep and Ghostcrown were thrilled to have her back, but he still wasn't sure how to feel about it. At least he knew what he wanted to do next. "I'd like to introduce you to her, as...as my mate, if you're okay with that..." racer
"Some time?" Ghostcrown grinned. Hopping away, he left the she-cat with her mother for a few minutes while he scoured the camp for his children. racerJadie (and stardancewoof if you're still around camp)
"How have you been? Have you been looking after yourself? You weren't caught up in any of those SunClan fires, were you?" Now that they were alone again, for the moment, the queen returned to fussing over her daughter, looking her strictly up and down for any signs of injury.

Echo couldn't help but grin as she watched Ghostcrown run off to find what she had to guess was his children for her to see. The she cat turned her attention to her mother who was fussing over her. The old Echo would have been annoyed and perhaps embarrassed being fussed over like this but now all she felt was warmth and love for her mother. "I've been fine and taking care of myself. As for the fires I was not near nor around them but heard of them from other loners and rouges. If you guys had been there..." she didn't finish her sentence nor did she want to think about it. Instead she changed the subject, "So how are you and how did you and Ghostcrown and Firetooth end up here? Are the others here as well?" Echo looked around to see if there was anyone else within eye range she could recognized but saw no one else.

Taking advantage of how close SwiftClan was to home for the moment, the lean Devotedcrow lounged peacefully near the fringes of the clan's 'camp,' if it could really be called that. He was overseeing the construction of another one of Desertwind's inventions and simultaneously acting as a barrier between him and Spiritlake who rested on his other side, though his attention lapsed frequently and wandered the area at all the faces that were still unfamiliar to him, noticing as Ghostcrown slipped from between them. "Dad?" He tilted his head at his father's hurried approach. "What did Raystrike do now?" He spared a pointed look at the silver bengal beside him, the usual perpetrator when it came to disruption given her sharp tongue and inability to stay quiet. CleaverracerJadiestardance
Breezestep nodded gravely. "Firetooth found his way here on his own," she told her, "and when the Sun God died, I left the clan to join him." That was the short version of the story, leaving out how the medicine cat had played a role in the god's downfall and the horror that had pushed her to leave SunClan despite the risks. "Ghostcrown was exiled," she admitted quietly, "but that's his story to tell you. He and Firetooth were at the fires, rescuing someone . . . very special." Breezestep smiled mysteriously, leaving that surprise for her sons to share.
"I'm sure she did something, probably put barbs in my nest," Ghostcrown suggested with a teasing look at his daughter, "but that's not why I'm here." Ghostcrown was excited to have his family together, even just for a little while, and he had to consciously restrain himself from spending all of his time with them. They would want some time alone as siblings without their father even though he was super cool. But their time alone could wait; he was practically bouncing in place.
"My sister Echo has come to SwiftClan! You'll love her, she's here now and ready to meet you," he mewed brightly.

Jetfire leaned into Firetooth’s warmth, nuzzling up against his cheek “It would be an honor” So far she had met most of his family here in swiftclan, but other than Ghostcrown she hadn’t heard him talk much about his siblings or other extended family “Besides I can’t pass up the opportunity to dig up a little dirt on you and Ghostcrown. Sisters always know the embarrassing kit hood stories you would rather keep buried” GidgetGal
Desertwind looked up from his contraption at Ghostcrown, contemplating for a moment “no thank you” as he went back to tinkering with his invention. It seemed like their family was growing with every passing day and he liked it just the way it was woofashestoashesCleaver

"Well I'm glad you and Ghostcrown are here...and Firetooth. I'm glad everyone seems to be doing well and thriving. The clan already seems better than how Sunclan was so that's a great start." Echo was curious how well she would fit into this new clan. Thankfully she wasn't truly alone coming here, but she was a stranger even to those that loved her. She was Echo and yet wasn't Echo...like some cat she could see in the water but not totally recognized. This day was not going as she expected it would however it wasn't necessarily bad. She did however feel very naked and vulnerable which was not something she had been in a long time. Good chances were when it comes nighttime she would crash hard.
