(so Honeystorm was gracious enough to let us have the old mercenary trial grounds from RR since they don't use them anymore and it'll be a good place for PI to settle in until the construction of the city slows down so let's go check em out)
At the start, Funk E'tan wasn't sure it could get any worse. Truck after truck, construction vehicle after construction vehicle. But they almost seemed to bring in even more with each passing day. And the more they tore down, the less hiding spots the group had. And despite everything, they were still getting bigger. More mouths to feed, somehow. It was a constant stress, and while a part of him was dying to just throw them to the wind and stay permanently in Dayclan, he knew that wouldn't fly.
His thoughts were interrupted by a deep tremor, one that sent their makeshift camp in a grove shaking. He wasn't one to throw himself out there, go and call out to everyone only for a tree to fall on him. Not his style. Instead, he bunkered down, ears swiveling behind when he heard something akin to a rip. Like the sound of flesh being torn from flesh. But far louder. When the tremors calmed down, Funk was one of the first to poke his head out of what was left of his den. The whole place was a mess. But there was something more. When Funk took that first step out, his paw slipped right through the grass and the dirt. He couldn't help the surprised yelp, pawing at nothing as he tried to pull himself back up. "What the hell?"

Shina froze as the ground started to move. He passed a look of mild panic to the cats around him but it was quickly replaced with confusion as the tremors calmed down. He peered down at the ground to see what in the world could have caused that but a flicker of movement caught his attention. "Woah!" Shina moved just on time to catch Funk E'tan by the tail in attempt to help haul him back up. "Sorry" He meowed through clamped teeth and fur.

When only one paw sank through, Funk had the fleeting thought that he would be fine. But then his other front paw slipped as he tried to get the first one out, and dread quickly settled in his stomach. The cry roused the attention of the others, and Funk could feel his grip slipping on the wet and cold grass. Not that he could see what lied below, but it wouldn't be good. Whatever it was. A part of him was overwhelmed with curiosity, desperate to find out what it was when teeth sank into his tail.
And he was halted, pain shooting through his spine as he tried to find purchase. "Ow. OW. I mean, it's fine. Thanks. But OW! Damn." His voice muffled through the dirt, but he could at least tell it was Shina who grabbed him. Feeling around, he finally found... something to push himself back up with. He didn't know what, almost didn't care. Just glad it relieved the pressure as he managed to back up, get his traction back and pull himself out of that hole. "Thanks." He repeated between a few coughs and gasps, but his gaze travelled back to the sinkhole that nearly engulfed him. "That hasn't happened before."

"Secret tunnel?" Shina questioned, leaning forward to see if he could spot the floor of this strange hole. His feet almost slid out from under him and they would have had a repeat of earlier if he hadn't caught himself before. "It's...dangerous. We should check it out." His gaze slid from the hole to Funk and then to the rest of the cats around them.
"Oh, oh, let me go!" Yeet burst out from a cluster of cats to stand in front of his father with pleading eyes. For a full grown member of PI, he was smaller than average and still had that kit-like wonder that often got him into trouble. "Please?! Just toss me down there! I know you've probably been wanting to do that your whole life!"

"Hold on let's think this through Yeet," came the voice of the warden as he rushed over only panting slightly. The dark tom turned to Funk, "Are you okay Funk? I heard your yell and tried to come over as soon as I could." Regulus looked over at the tunnel with a concerned expression on his face. "If we need to take a look we should go in cautiously and not all at once. What if there was a dangerous animal in there Yeet? It would almost be like throwing you into a lion's den. Let us wait to see what Funk says."

Funk got his balance back, curiously rubbing his paw against the entrance of the sink hole as Yeet talked. More prattled on about his assumptions. The Nemesis couldn't help but roll his eyes, and was about to answer when Regulus appeared. Right... his new warden. He wasn't used to the idea completely, to be honest. But after watching Dayclan's election, he really did not trust the League to pick a suitable successor to him when he inevitably left.
So came Regulus. But he was one of those overly serious kinds. It made Funk laugh under his breath. Another piece of earth fell from beneath his paw, the one he was prodding at. Silence overtook the group as they listened. And a few moments later, they could catch the faint echo of it hitting the ground. "Little slow on the draw there, Reg, but I'm fine. As for you Yeet, if you really wanna break your legs falling down there, then be my guest. But I'm sure there's a safer entrance we can look for. Either way, we can't stay here."

The warden nodded in agreement. "True Funk. Okay then by all means lets go look for a safe entrance. Yeet I don't trust you by yourself here so why don't you just follow me for now." The young cat would more than likely try to find an entrance on his own anyway so why not bring him along where the warden could keep an eye out for him? Better to be aided with a cat willing to explore a new place than leave them alone to explore and get hurt on their own. Saves him time, energy, and a potential injury to have Yeet with him in any case.

As Regulus called over Yeet, Funk let out a huff. He was finally getting comfortable in this bed too. The drifting lifestyle was his norm for so long, and now he lived the cushy life of a Nemesis. His younger self would have spat at him. As more cats rose, he straightened himself, letting their eyes pull him from the thought.
"Pack it up folks. You all know the protocol by now." Funk could hear a few of them groaning in their dens, ears twitching, "or plummet to your deaths. Whichever is more attractive." He led in a very blasé way, not particularly strong or forceful in one way or another. He didn't need to now. They say humans can pursue their moral compasses once their basic needs are maintained. It was why there were so many movies about rich vigilantes. But that wasn't where Primal Instinct was anymore. Once their roots had been planted, they could start shedding blood again.
