Orchiddrop waited by the apprentice den for Coyotepaw to come do his training. The she cat was aware of his incident and knew he had mobility issues but was determined to help him out. She pittied the tom for what he was having to overcome however this only fueled her desire to be as best of a mentor she could be. In truth she herself wasn't the best warrior around due to having spent a lot of her time in the nursery when she first lived her. Now being back and not in ths nursery she had learned the ways but wasn't a particular strong fighter. She hoped to make Coyotepaw a better and stronger warrior than she would ever be. The white warrior sat patiently and quietly enjoying the mild weather around her.
While he had never walked, he had his own way of getting around. It looked funny, but he had gotten surprisingly fast. He slithered his way out of the den and pushed himself up on his forepaws in front of his mentor. The gray point tom's legs wobbled and vibrated under the weight of his own body, but he stayed there. The strain was audible in his voice as he spoke. "Hey, sorry I'm a little late. My legs fell asleep and all that so it took me awhile." His classic leg jokes. Some cats were uncomfortable with them, and he just didn't understand that. He thought they were funny.

The warrior chuckled at his joke finding it witty and amusing. So that's how he managed it, some cats get depressed or grumpy but instead he tried humor to make things better. Orchiddrop was slightly amazed a young cat such as himself tried to find a brighter side to things instead of darker. She had known many warriors moons older than him that struggled with their disabilities (but she didn't think I'll of them, she could only imagine the struggles they had to go through.) "Glad you made it regardless. Today we will be heading over to Cadence Valley to review warrior code and ways for you to hunt." Her blue and green eyes had a soft look to them but her expression was one of fierce determination. "We will start heading that way when you're ready. Did you have any questions for me by chance?"
Well, he didn't really know how this was going to work. While his slithering and occasionally pulling was great for short distance such as in the camp, he didn't really thing it would work well out there. They had hills and stuff in the camp, but it was tamed. The rest of the territory couldn't be like that. He'd certainly need some help getting all the way out there. "Well, uh, would you help me out there? I don't think I could make it out there, because, you know, a coyote made a chew toy out of me." While he did his best to maintain a positive demeanor, he knew when he needed help getting around, and wasn't ashamed of it. No sane cat would think it a good idea to let him slither out there. "I want to, but... yeah."

"Of course I'll help you, I promise wasn't going to let you do this alone. I want you to be able to rely on me not only as a mentor but as a fellow warrior. I'm glad you asked though as some cats tend to feel embarrassed to ask for help but if anything I see it as bravery for doing so. I will think of a way we can work around this so you don't have to drag yourself everywhere if possible. I'll talk to the medicine cat to see if they may have an idea themselves or can brainstorm together." The white she cat walked next to her apprentice taking a quick look at his size before speaking again. "For now lets figure out how you can get out of the camp and into Cadence Valley. I have two ideas: One is you can hop on my back and we can take things slow. Get a look around the territory to help you memorize some of it and take a break for some short training before heading back to camp. You're not too big for me to do that yet. Two is we can go as far as you can make it on your own. We then take a break to let you rest while we do some basic training before going back. We could also do the combination of the two but I will leave this up to you." Orchiddrop was going to do whatever pace Coyotepaw wanted and could do without pushing him.
He smiled and nodded. The young tom knew he needed the support. He didn't necessarily want it for the rest of his life, but he recognize that he could not get by without it, at least for now. Of course, he was working on changing that one step at a time, but that was a long way from becoming reality. He needed to focus on today and tomorrow, and then work his way up from there. "Thanks, uhhhh... I feel like we should just get out and see the territory." He shrugged. "I'll definitely get down and move around on my own at some point, but I wanna know what I'm gonna be moving over."

(Its all cool mistakes happen!)
Orchiddrop nodded in agreement. "Okay then let do that. Just put your two paws over my shoulders like this and I'll get you adjusted properly for the trip." The older warrior was making a mental list on where all to go and what to do in each place. There was a limited time to the day but she was determined to get a good portion of it done before the sun's setting. Whatever they didn't do or reach they could do another time. The biggest thing the she cat wanted was to give Coyotepaw a good first day of training.
The gray-point tom nodded as he hoisted himself up onto his forepaws. He pulled himself a little bit closer until he could lean on his mentor's side, and then with a push tried to get them over. The near side made it over just fine, but his other side required another adjustment. "Thanks! I'll let you know when I'm ready to be let down." They would have a while until he was too big to be carried. His body spent a considerable amount of energy recovering from the injury during his early years, so he was considerably smaller than the average apprentice. "Where are we going first? My grandmother already showed me the White Tree."

"We will be heading to the Cadence Valley near the Endless Falls instead of Nova Canyons where the White Tree is. Endless Falls tends to be a rather quiet place were we can talk and relax in peace. Not a bad first place to visit I don't think." The she cat was surprised with how much lighter he was than she thought but didn't mind it in the slightest even if he had been heavier. "Alright Coyotepaw if you're ready then we are heading out. If you feel yourself slipping you can cling onto me. Your claws won't bother me, and let me know if you need anything else." With that the mentor and apprentice ventured on to their destination. As Orchiddrop walked on she was thoughtful for a moment before adding, "If you have any questions about anything or are wondering what its like to be a warrior feel free to ask anything. After all I plan on giving you all the knowledge that I have."
He couldn't be more grateful for the mentor he was given. Before DayClan reverted back to just one on one mentoring, Coyotepaw was afraid that he would slow down his class. It didn't keep him up at night, but it did bother him. A one-on-one mentor was ideal, and such an accommodating mentor was a dream. His enthusiasm bled into his voice. "Yeah, I'll let you know! Thanks!" He extended his claws and curled them into his mentor's fur, careful not to penetrate any flesh. "I've been working on standing up more and more. I'm not there yet, but I've pushed myself up the wall of my den. I can't really hold myself up for long... but I am trying."

"If you want Coyotepaw I can also help you out there if need be. If it helps to keep you up slightly to gain some muscle in your legs we can also work on that." Honestly the she cat was really liking her apprentice and couldn't help but to feel like being a mother to him. It was just something that came naturally to her. Orchiddrop saw how hard he was working to try to get some use in his legs and wished to make that dream become reality. The scenery slightly changed as they continued on to their destination.
The gray-point tom nodded. "I will... I'll try not to bother you though. I've been doing okay on my own... so like, I want the help, but I don't want you to feel like you have to." His family was plenty supportive of him and his struggles, but he had a drive to better himself that well outpaced any of his family. He knew his mother at least had resigned long ago to the 'fact' that he would never walk. "But do you have any other ideas on how I can get stronger?"

"Aside from trying to gain lower body strength there is without a doubt you'll need to focus on your front paws for strength. They are probably pretty strengthen as is but obviously that will be your go to for getting around on your own. Other than that just practice, work out, and most important is keeping up a positive mindset. Just don't give up on yourself." Rather hypocritical of Orchiddrop to say when she struggled with her own mind, but it was important for Coyotepaw to know. Before they knew it they were at Cadence Valley which was breath taking with how beautiful the day was.
