Dirtydivinity snuggled closer to the moss, half asleep and unaware of her new surroundings. The last time she had slept on a proper nest, was as a kit curled up with Dottymask and her siblings as she nursed. Her paws kneaded at the soft bedding that lied underneath her form. The dirt had been cleaned from her pelt, leaving her thick long coat on full display, the white constellation markings on her her coat like starlight on the clearest of nights. With every move, the crystals in her ears would catch the sunlight, sending a dazzling display of light through the cave. It was like a sweet dream of better times, before the nightmare came... Her mother screaming for help, blood everywhere, all the cats moving In to attack
Her eyes snapped open, panic setting in as she looked around at the unfamiliar place and the strange scents that filled her nose “mom...” she called as she looked down to realize the dirt from her pelt had been washed away. A loud shriek filled then den as she rolled across the floor of the cave trying to cover upper her markings before anyone saw, but the cold stone held little dirt as she dove for the moss. Flipping it over and frantically rubbing the dirty side across her face strawberrycupid

Smolderingcomet was small, but even he didn't have much trouble bringing Dirtydivinity back to camp. It was easy for him to slip through the crowd with her, though the dirt that caked her feet sank in his mouth. And he hated it. He was always cleaning his siblings behind the ears, a little bit of a neat freak. And this she-cat was his biggest project yet. But with a lot of moss and patience, he managed to clean it out.
And he was sleeping soundly, on the edge of the warrior's den. He had become more and more paranoid with age, the only one seemingly worried about the cult that followed them. But nothing prepared himself for the sudden shriek that filled the camp. Smolderingcomet practically jumped out of skin, immediately pulling himself up and running towards the den like he had trained for this. The few that were quicker didn't quite know what to do, so he shouldered past them. He didn't expect to see Dirtydivinity trying to cover herself again, and it immediately alarmed him.
"Hey hey hey. What are you doing, dear?" He didn't think, he just acted. Close to wretching the moss out of her paws, he pressed it down to the floor, her paws still entangled with it as his gaze met her's. "You're in Dayclan, love. You're safe. You don't need to do that anymore."

By the time Smolderingcomet got to the den, Dirtydivinity had managed to smear enough dirt onto her face to cover many of the constellation markings that were splattered across her pelt even if it wasn't to her satisfaction. She was used to being thickly coated in dirt and this was a mere dusting that couldn't quite hide the lunar runes only subdue them.
The she-cat flinched away, turning her head to avoid looking at the cat that had pressed her paws that were tangled in the moss to the ground. She seemed to be settling down at the tom's soothing words "I don't have to, I want..." when he said that she was in DayClan her eyes snapped open in fright, tearing her paws from the moss with a loud pop stumbling backward until her back was against the wall with her fur bristling outwards with a feral look in her eyes "No.. YOU HURT MY MOMMA" her words coming out in as a wail, her claws emerging looking around frantically for Dottymask but only seeing the faces of strangers before her. Dirtydivinity's first and only encounter with the cats of other clans was them jumping on Dottymask and ripping her apart "Get away from from me" a deep growl rumbling in her throat

Smolderingcomet definitely cringed. In between trying to calm her down, his tail desperately swept against his paws, trying to get any of the dirt that sprinkled on him off. But also, he saw them. What lied underneath all that dirt she was desperately trying to reclaim. And he wanted to see more of it. But then her grip came off the moss, and Smolderingcomet went tumbling too, but in the opposite direction. A few of the warriors jumped back as he came too, shaking his paw. One of his claws was too intertwined in that moss, the force tweaking it to where a few drops of blood decorated it.
But he didn't pay it any mind. He needed to do something, he was the one that brought her here. Not that it looked like she remembered. Looking back at the others, he suddenly smiled like it was nothing. "You all can go for now. The more of us there are, the more we'll scare her. I'll keep an eye on her. Would one of you mind grabbing me some cobwebs from Brakewings? Maybe a few poppy seeds too." Smolderingcomet tried to look calm, but was anything but. As the group left, he leaned against the entrance, back facing Dirtydivinity. "Okay, deep breaths. Both of us. Inhale... ... and exhale..."

Dirtydivinity had pressed herself up against the wall of the den claws stretched out and ready to slash at those that came to close. Only instead of closing in, they were dismissed? The group that had been crowded around dissipating until only one was left, facing away from the corner she had pressed herself into. Her sides were heaving from stress, but as the moments ticked by with only the sound of his deep breathing she slowly began to relax, becoming more curious about the tom leaning against the entrance with his back turned to her.
Back in WInterClan that didn't happen. She was a demon and you didn't simply turn your back on a demon. Yet here this cat was leaving themselves completely open to an attack, without so much as a backwards glance towards her. It just wasn't adding up with what she had been told and seen of the other groups "Where is my mom?" she questioned after a few moments of quiet, still not quite relinquishing her defensive position the memory of her mother being torn apart still fresh in her mind

Smolderingcomet let the breath settle into his bones. Like his whole body was being drawn back to the earth. Time ticked by, at the same rate as ever but it somehow felt slower. His ears swiveled back when she spoke again. The problem with leaving Smolderingcomet with her was that he was never very... thoughtful with his words. He remained silent for a moment to compose himself before answering.
"Back with Winterclan, I would think. I left with you on orders from the Bright Brigade shortly after you passed out so I can't be sure." Really, no matter how much Fia and Mysteryleaf were mad at her, he couldn't see them killing her. He wasn't sure why. Maybe the cat with the dotted mask gave the feeling she was stronger than the others thought. "She's not here at least. Not that I've seen. What about you, dear? Do you want to see her?"

"of course she is my mom" she replied, fur bristling outwards, but she looked far more scared than angry. She didn't understand what the bright brigade was, but if they were the ones responsible for hurting Dottymask than she wanted nothing to do with them. She had been rather sheltered back in WinterClan, knowing little to nothing about the other clans outside of their own. Only the things Dottymask wanted her to hear "and she is hurt, she needs me" she pleaded, still uncertain on where this cat stood or why they had brought her here. Her mind was already spinning that they were keeping her for some sort of torture beause she had been born a demon

"I guess that's true for most." Smolderingcomet relaxed, laying down but keeping in the doorway of the den. He didn't know his birth mother that much, so he didn't really understand the connection. If Peachblush was like a parental figure, than Smolderingcomet got closer with his father Fuzzyheart and still silently grieved his death. And now Peachblush was gone too. His tail thumped on the ground at the thought. "Your mother will be fine. I doubt Winterclan will let one of their own die from that." Smolderingcomet only somewhat understood exactly what happened to the demon kits. "Hey, dear. Just because she's your mother, it doesn't mean you have to go back to her. I mean, didn't she have a paw in what happened to you?" He somehow avoided just outright saying anything about her ears.

The she-cat quickly looked down, her cheeks feeling flushed. It was clear he didn't understand, what kind of cat did he think that her mother was? She could see how it looked badly, especially to those that didn't know. Her ears were weighed down by the crystals that had been fused to them, folding over and making it difficult to hear. Under her long fur was the raised scars from her exorcism, her mother so desperate to cleanse her of the demon with in "My mother loves me" she reiterated, repeating the words she had been taught while still in the nursery
"Do you mean my ears?" she paused, shuffling her paws nervously "That was for my own good. My mom was only trying to help me, to save my soul so that I could have a better life"

"Of course." Smolderingcomet chirped up at her reiteration. This was going to be a tough nut to crack, and he honestly didn't believe that he would be able to do it by himself. It'd be silly to ask her if she really believed this stuff because of course she did. It was trying to find a way to show her how wrong her mother had been. The other warrior finally appeared with the cobwebs, and he wrapped his own claw in it as they left.
"I believe that was her intention, but just because she had good intentions doesn't mean it was still a good thing to do. There's a saying that the road to the dark forest is paved with good intentions. Like let's say you were you a member of a large rogue gang. For the sake of peace among the clans, your group goes around and takes over every single clan by force until they are all under your control. And while, yes, there is no more war, there is also a lot more dead and the clans are enslaved to your group. Even though your leader did this with the good intention of having peace among the clans, would you still say it was the right thing to do?"
