"I'm not sure what it is either to be honest, but it tastes wonderful" he purred, as his son drooled over the little treat that he had brought him. SunClan cats didn't run into twolegs very often, so the fact that Lionpride managed to find suh a meal was impressive "The whole box is just for you. I know you have to share with your siblings a lot, but this time I wanted to do something special just for you. So dig in!" The massive tom settled down stiffly, his body still not fully recovered from the fire that happened the day his kits had been born. 

Lionpride purred while he watched his son enjoying the meal that he had brought him. It had been difficult to find and bring it back, but seeing the joy on his son's face made it all worth it "You are welcome, I'm just glad that you like it" his long fluffy tail swished over until it brushed his shoulder. It was moments like these that made him proud to be a father, even though with such a large litter he didn't get to spend as much time with each one of them as he would have like. Still he tried to still have special moments with all of them "After your finished we can do something else together to, your pick" he winked

"Hmmm" he mused, thinking over the things he had been doing with his kits "I know just the thing" he replied after a few moments. "How about I take you to see an old friend of mine? Your siblings haven't met him yet, and I know that you are going to love it" The large tom rose to his paws, his long fur swishing around him "Its a long walk though, are you sure you don't want to pick something else?" 

Lionpride chuckled "alright, one moment" he disappeared into the warriors den before emerging with a little bundle of left over berries "Here carry this" he replied without much explanation. Leading his son into the tunnels and heading towards NightClan's territory "We are going to need those in order to see my friend" he was happy to give his son a little job to do to make him feel important "Hopefully it wont take us long to find him if we are lucky"

Lionpride purred, leading his son out towards the NightClan border "Now my friend might be scared of you at first, so  try not to move around to much and let him come to you. Put a berry on your paw" he placed a berry on the kits paw, and turned it upside down and held it outwards "Just hold very still" he instructed as he disappeared into the undergrowth. Assertivekit would hear a series of squeaks coming from the undergrowth, before the leaves rustled and Lionpride repapered with two mice riding on top of his head. He placed them gently on the ground as the skittered back to him "This is whiskers and squeak" he  mewed softly as the mice slowly started approaching Assertivekit "When I was your age I found a baby mouse hidden in my mother's den. I hid it away in one of the herb storage crevices and named him Sir Squeakers. I eventually let him go which is how I met my mate before your mother. She was a NightClan cat, and she was trying to hunt him when I intervened" he purred warmly as one of the mic grabbed the berry Assertivekit was holding and dashed backwards "When Sir squeakers had babies of his own, he brought them to me to get berries. He has died, but his children still come out to get berries from time to time" it was a little embarrassing. He was a cat that had eaten mice before, but he couldn't bring himself to harm his little friends here

"Yes we do eat mice" he replied with a shrug, lowering his muzzle as the mice came skittering up to his face and began grooming his fur "but I won't eat these. There is no way for other cats to know, nor would they care if they caught one of them. I can't protect them all the time, but they have become very good at hiding away from predators. I can love on them, and treat them with respect. However, the best thing that I can do is to let them live their lives and to make their own mistakes. Sort of like with you and your siblings. One day you are going to be big and strong, and you won't need me anymore. Part of loving something, is knowing when to take a step back so that they can thrive" 

Lionpride pulled his son close, even a the mice scattered. Right now his well being over rode everything else, and he hated to see him cry "That's right" he let his long coat envelope his son as he leaned down to lick his ears "There will come a day when you won't need me any more, but that doesn't mean I will leave you or your siblings. I will always be here to support you, ready to catch you when you fall and hold you close when you cry. The truth is one day you won't need me, but I will always need you. Assertivekit, you are my son" 

"I love you to Assertivekit" he licked the top of his son's head soothingly, finding his way behind the tom's ears that always seemed to be tangled "While we are out here, would you like to try learning some basic fighting moves? You will be an apprentice soon, so you may as well get a head start on them"

"Of course, how else would you be able to learn" He stood up to his full height before dropping into a defensive crouch "Go ahead and come at me with everything you got. I want to see how far you have come so far! Don't worry about hurting me, my fur is so thick you won't be able to do to much damage. I mostly want to see your form, and how creative you can be" he flicked his tail from side to the other in anticipation, while still keeping watch in the area around them "Go!"
