A Russian blue tomcat padded out of the Warriors den. Minnow-wind found a spot out of the way to stretch. The leaf-bare season posed discomfort to the older Tom's joints. He made sure to stretch and warm up his body so that he could go about his Warrior duties.

From the entrance of the nursery a small white kit watched the tom with wide silver eyes. She had woken up way before her mother, who had specifically told her not to leave the nursery, especially during leaf bare. But the curious kit couldn't help herself and pushed her way out of the den with a loud squeak.
Moonkit padded up to the warrior as gracefully as she could, despite tripping over a twig. "What are you doing?" The kit asked Minnow-wind, fur bristling from the cold morning air.
