Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
The apprentices mentioned in this thread will be posted on this adoptable thread : link
A week had past since she had taken up the position of deputy. It still felt strange to her, the idea of being Nightclan's deputy. Duskveil had been shocked to hear the announcement. Seeing her mate Darkmeadow and her brother Dawnbringer happy for her, but she still remembered the burning look that Maplevow had quickly sent in her direction before flashing her a fake smile. The look from the older warrior still replayed in the back of her head. She was determined to prove him and everyone else who was skeptical about her taking the position. She had just sent her two newest apprentices on their merry way. Watch at the tips of their tails disappeared out of sight as they left the camp. She figured she would catch up to them much later. She found herself standing mostly alone in the center of the cenote except a few clanmates milling about.

"I would have probably would have chosen you, too," a voice sounded from behind Duskveil. An orange tabby limped into view. He looked toward their new leader and sighed. "That could've been me," Firewind sighed. "If it wasn't for this permanent injury." He glanced down at his partially lame leg then back up at Duskveil. "I would have advanced into leadership but it just wasn't meant to be." He had been deputy for four seasons under Flamingstar's leadership until his fight with the rogue. He gave himself a little shake as if to change the subject. "Well, I didn't come over here to play 'what if' games. I just wanted to let you know if you want any advice about your new duties, you can just ask me. I'd be happy to help out in any way."

Duskveil hadn't expected to be approached by the former deputy. She dipped her head respectfully in the direction of the older tom. "Nightclan or rather I will always look towards your wisdom and guidance. You can help further the moral of Nightclan, because you are well respected member of this clan. I believe we've become lost over the last several moons." She stated her voiced trailing off as she looked a touched troubled by that fact.

Firewind gazed off into the distance as he listened to Duskveil's words. It was true, NightClan seemed to be wandering around aimlessly lately. But this was happening even before Flamingstar's death. Perhaps his own injury helped to contribute to it as well.
He sighed.
"You're right but nobody seems to want to talk about it," he meowed softly. "But what can we do to help remedy this? We can't go on living like this."
"I think motivating the younger members of our clan to better themselves. Would help bring change." She muttered as she watched some younger warriors laze around. She had half a mind to go yell at them, but knew that would only lead to them rebelling.

"Easier said than done," Firewind remarked. "But you're right. We need to convince our younger warriors to take better pride in our clan. If that happens it would be a big step in the right direction." He looked around at some of the younger warriors just sitting around talking. "They're our future. If they lose hope, our clan would be lost."
"How did you motivate younger warriors when you were a deputy? If I may ask." She asked the question hoping it would further help her brain storm a solution.

Firewind swished his tail in regret at the thought that his tactics brought to his mind. "Well I'd suggest not using threats, at least severe ones such as banishment. They'll only cause trouble for you in the long run." If he could change just one thing it would have been that. Perhaps he made StarClan angry and that's why he got his injury. "Maybe try using rewards such as a day off from patrolling or some such thing."
