The scout walked back to camp with peace in his mind after walking around the territory. The lands seemed calm with no odd scents that weren't supposed to be there as well as the prey running smooth and numeral as they should. Intrepidsoul felt good about how the day was going, and now that his early morning check was done he could have some down time to do whatever it was he wanted with peace in his mind. The clan needed this, all of the cats needed a day like this to enjoy the spring weather and no added worries on their minds. With a small relaxed sigh the grey and silver tabby tom stretched out in the sun with wispy grey eyes half closed and his pelt nice and warm from the morning rays. What should he do today?

As the prey was running well, Heavypetal had been putting his skills as a hunter to use. He laid in front of a large rabbit, the fruits of his labour that he had plucked before the sun had burned the mist from the ground. A few bites had been taken from it but there was plenty to spare. As his eyes scanned the area he noted the other tom, and called out, "Had breakfast already?" He asked, not wanting the rest of it to go to waste. He wasn't sure if the other was even awake, but it was better to be safe than sorry, and if nothing else he could always drop it off in front of the nursery.

Intrepidsoul looked to where the voice came from and found Heavypetal with a rabbit near him. Smiling the grey and white scout headed over, "As a matter of fact I just came back from a patrol and haven't had breakfast yet. I'd love to join you, thank you for offering me this." Taking a bite of the prey he noted its size and gave a nod of approval. "This is a nice catch, I'm guessing you caught it? Good going! I've never been able to catch rabbits myself but I'm always impressed by cats that could catch them. How is your morning going so far?" He found the presence of the other warrior's to be laid back which was appreciated.

"Pretty well, I'd say," he responded, a small smile coming to his muzzle as he accepted what Intrepidsoul had to say as a compliment, watching him take bites of his catch, "Preys' running well, I'd say if you wanted a shot at tracking rabbit you'd have a good chance tonight," he informed before continuing, "How'd the patrol go?" He wasn't one for much small talk but something about how straight to the point the other tom was made him at ease. He did talk a lot, which he was finding was true for many Swiftclanners, but no words seemed to be wasted, it was nice for once.

Licking his maw the tom looked to his fellow warrior, "It went well. I found no issues and the territory was marked with no trace of other cats. Its nice for the clan to not have to worry or stress for the day. We definitely need a day like today...I hope it keeps up like this, but it would be foolish of me to say this will be forever. For now I jist pray to Starclan this peace will last us longer." Pausing Intrepidsoul then replied, "You think the peace will last a little bit longer?"

A smile didn't show much on his maw, but Heavypetal felt a warmth in his chest at the good news. Even though it wasn't much news at all, but as he was raised, 'no news was good news'. "Nice and warm too," he rumbled, his tone as close to a purr as he could manage, though he paused as he thought about Intrepidsoul's question, knowing he could only hope for sustained peace, "I think that the warmth and the flow of prey will keep things running fairly smoothly," he decided.

"I truly hope so," murmured the warrior before adding," hey by chance did you have any plans later today? There was something I wanted to check out and having another set of eyes wouldn't hurt anything." Intrepidsoul was planning on asking Shatteredshine but then remembered she was going to be busy later in the day herself so wouldn't have been able to join. He could do it by himself but what fun would that be if he was by himself?

"Nothing of importance, unless Im needed to stare at the camp walls all day," humour was an anomaly for Heavypetal, yet in the ease of their conversation, he found himself able to relax and experiment with how he talked to the other tom, "How soon did you want to head out? I've had my fill, I can drop the rest of this by the nursery and we can be on our way, if you'd like," he offered, a glint of excitement in his eyes. He was never chosen for anything like this, it was novel and just what he needed.

"I am good to go, and again they prey was very nice. I think the queens and kits will enjoy the rest of this happily!" The warrior took the prey near the nursery, popping his head in the den long enough to let the she cats know about the prey delivered and that Heavypetal had caught it. Saying good bye Intrepidsoul met back up with the older warrior who seemed ready to go. "Okay we are going to heading Northeast of the territory. I found some sort of den it seems, but am unsure if it's still being preoccupied or not. It's not in the territory per say but it is close enough that if something is living there could be trouble for us. So I figured having two cats is better than one."

The silvery tabby stood as the other bounded off, shaking out his thick pelt as he rose to his paws, his neck cracking a bit as he did. He was starting to show his age, but was in no hurry to slow down with his warrior duties, and this seemed like a good time, duty or not. "If it was close enough for you to find, its close enough for us to check out," he decided, not very familiar with the territory yet, but happy to follow alongside the other tom. "Lead the way Intrepidsoul," he meowed with a nod, looking towards the exit.

So the scout lead the warrior out of camp towards theor destination. Intrepidsoul was both curious and nervous to what they could find in the den. To the scout it is better to check it and be nothing than to have had something and never checked it. He wanted to be safe than sorry. As they continued their destination a question popped into the tom's mind. "So were you born into Swiftclan or born elsewhere like me? Where are you from?"
Post by complacentdevil on Mar 24, 2021 23:45:10 GMT -5
"Twoleg place," he answered, just as quickly as the question left Intrepidsouls' mouth. There was a long story as to where the large tom had come from, where he had been, but in short, he was technically from the twoleg place. Give or take some not-so-important details. "Far from here," he added, hoping he sounded sincere enough that the scout wouldn't ask any questions, "Traveled a long ways to get here too. You said you aren't from here either?" he asked, deflecting the conversation away from himself.

Interpidsoul noticed the deflection and the tom keeping his answer short. He had an idea there was more to the story but wouldn't push the warrior for more answers. "I was born very far from all of these lands. My parents were just normal cats that loved to see the world around them so I was not bound by any single place really. Eventually I went out on my own and after quiet a few moons decided I wanted a place to settle down for friends and family. The road can be equally fun, dangerous, and thrilling but pretty lonesome when by yourself. I stumbled to this place and so far it's been treating me well. Swiftclan is a place I am happy to call home now." Their destination wasn't too far off now and only a few more lengths away.
