Lucien was eager when he was arranged to go on a date. A rose was clamped loosely in his jaws, trying to make sure he didn’t get thorns stuck in his tongue. He arrived early, setting the flower down and running his tongue across his fur to smooth it. He straightened up as the sound of paw steps reached his ears, though his smile fell slightly when he saw the she-cat enter the ruins. Internally he was a bit disappointed that he had been paired up with a girl, though he tried to put the thought out of his mind, determined to still enjoy the night and hopefully make a friend.
“I brought you this.” He smiled warmly, nudging the rose toward her.

He smiled, settling down to eat.
“So, I know I’ve seen you around but we haven’t spoken much. What do you like to do for fun?” He asked, trying a bit awkwardly to make small talk.

“I love flowers too, there’s nothing better than basking in a field of flowers after a long hike.” He smiled wistfully. When the topic turned to his past, he sighed.
“Well, I grew up as a kittypet, but it never felt right. I knew that there was more out there for me, so I escaped. I didn’t really know what I was doing, but I found Sunclan. It’s still all a bit new to me, but I think I’m getting the hang of everything.”

“In all honesty, when I left my old home, I didn’t know that there were other cats out here. I mean, I knew about loners and rogues, but I had no idea that there were clans. I thought I was going to be all alone out here, but I’m glad that I’m not.” He admitted. He stretched out, laying down as they chatted.
“I know I still have a lot to learn about how the clans work. Like, why there need to be so many and everything. I guess I sort of feel like an example that we aren’t all so different.”

“I think it’ll still be a while until I’m allowed to go to one. I’m not sure when I’ll become a full member of the clan, but I hope it isn’t too long from now. I’m trying to put my faith in the Sun God, it’s just still pretty new to me.” For a moment he was quiet, contemplative, before changing the subject.
“So, are you enjoying the festival so far? I’m sure it must get old if you experience it every year.”

Lucien looked sympathetic.
“That must have been awkward...” he hesitated before continuing.
“I definitely hope that this date is going better but I feel like I should be honest about something. Bloodystar has been mostly pairing me up with she-cats, but I was actually hoping to find a nice tom to settle down with.” He admitted, feeling a bit bad for his companion. While probably better than a date with a cousin, this likely still wasn’t going to be what she wanted.

He leaned close to brush against her lightly.
“Hey, it isn’t all bad. Even if it isn’t great for a date, we can still be friends. Besides, it’s a beautiful night and we got a good meal. We could always go hunt or take a hike. I’d love to have a proper guide to show me around the territory. Is there anything that would cheer you up?” He smiled a bit.
“Besides, maybe I could be a bit of a wingman for you and scout out some nice toms.”

“Is there anyone you’ve got your eye on? I could chat with them, talk you up a bit.” He chuckled.
“And I suppose if you meet any toms looking for someone like me, send them my way. I haven’t been doing too great in the romance area either so we could help each other.”
