Giantpaw waited with excitement in the night. He had been practicing the move Firewind had showed him and wanted to surprise his mentor with it. The apprentice had told the retired deputy to meet him here, but he had forgotten that Firewind's leg was now lame. I hope he makes it.
Whitemuzzlewoof (ooc; some character development for firewind, sorry in advance!)

(No need to apologize. I love to rp! )
It had been two moons since his fight with the rogue that left him with a permanent limp but the pain he had from the injury was almost gone. The only pain Firewind had now was in his heart. He would have been leader now if it wasn't for that stupid fight! He had to step down from being NightClan's deputy because of it. He let out a deep sigh. Apparently StarClan didn't want him to lead. It was something he'd have to live with for the rest of his life.
Soon he came to the place Giantpaw asked to meet him. A smile grew on his face helping to ease the melancholy feelings he was having. At least he could still train his apprentice. He wasn't ready for an early retirement to the elders den. There were still several moons of warrior living he was prepared to do and he planned on doing it well!
"Good evening," he meowed to Giantpaw in greeting. "What is it you want to show me?"

Giantpaw smiled as his mentor appeared. He had made it after all! But Firewind wouldn't have had much time to see the happy smile. The apprentice immediately leapt at his mentor, trying the maneuver he had learned from the other tom. Giantpaw wanted to catch his mentor by surprise. He hoped that it worked or else all his training in secret to impress Firewind would have been for nothing.
(ooc; oh there is definitely need to apologize) woof it is time

Taken by surprise, Firewind was knocked off his feet. He wasn't alarmed, however, because he knew it was Giantpaw who attacked him. "Whoa! Where'd you learn that?" He hadn't taught him such an attack.
(ooc - Wasn't too sure how to respond. If I need to change it, I will.)
NightClan was politically unstable, rocking between multiple leaderships in less than a moon, and it burned. him. up. He stalked through the familiar lands, ire like poison in his bloodstream, until something else caught his attention, something intriguing that fed his rising bloodlust. Two of his clanmates engaged in...an argument? A snarl rippled discordantly from the pit of his belly until it sliced through the night, and in the same moment he sliced through the underbrush, stocky frame slamming into the unwitting apprentice before he could respond to his mentor.
Giantpaw felt himself roll right when he had opened his mouth to respond. Instead of words, a cry left his mouth. Ears ringing from the rough hit, the large tom tried to push himself to his paws. Who in the world had come to hit him out of nowhere? Giantpaw tried to catch a glimpse of the other cat - the scent was NightClan, so perhaps this was a random exercise to test him. To see if he was ready to be a warrior. He would pass it!
"Firewind, I'm gonna use what you taught me. Watch!" He whipped around to face the other cat.

Firewind was amazed to see a clanmate attack his apprentice let alone do it so roughly. "Hey! What's going on here?" he hissed but neither Giantpaw or the other tom replied to his question. The fiery tabby tom limped closer to the two cats when he heard Giantpaw's statement. He held back ready to jump in if needed. His apprentice was well trained and about ready to become a warrior.
All he could see was red-- it washed over his senses, painting Giantpaw in a crimson light that he was certain was a sign of ill intent. He snarled and lunged toward him, sinking claws into one shoulder while his teeth aimed for the side of the apprentice's neck, seeking a vital artery.
Firewind could scream and snarl if he wanted, but it had little bearing on the attacker. Blood dribbled out of Giantpaw's neck as his jaws worked their way closer to their goal, feeling the apprentice's fight grow weaker with the more blood he lost.

This was wrong! He had to stop this right now! Firewind felt his blood rise up as anger and concern flooded over him. "Let go of him NOW!" he yowled as the orange tabby jumped into the fray. He sunk his teeth into the tom's scruff and pulled him off of Giantpaw. He saw his apprentice's blood darken the ground and felt his own heart rate quicken. He aimed a hard swat to the back of the attacking tom's head, claws extended. "Get outta here you traitor!" he growled, barely able to contain himself. Every muscle in his body screamed to fight this enemy but his brain told him there was no time to waste. Every second was needed to save Giantpaw.
