Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
"The damage is too severe to be fixed. The foot is essentially dead. I'm sorry, but there's nothing more I can do."
The healing process was always a slow one, wasn't it? Spending practically all day laying bored inside the Medicine Den, eating more herbs than meat, with the only break from the monotony being the exercises created to help build his strength back up. But, well...he could only exercise for a few minutes at a time, before the sharp, stabbing pain from his foot and hip forced him to rest again. That wasn't to say there wasn't any progress; he could walk around a lot better now than he could after the incident. The ginger tabby tom had managed to make it just outside the Medicine Den today, taking a moment to bask in a bright, cloudless afternoon as he watched the camp bustle around him. Some of his clanmates would look at him with relief, joy that he had survived what was near-certain death. Others' eyes were filled with pity, sad that such a promising young warrior would be forced to permanently retire from his injuries. All of them still called him by the wrong name. He wasn't Seasparkleflash anymore...his name was Icesplash.

"Hang out here often?" The soft, rolling tone of the charcoal bengal made the words seem to just roll off his tongue. He sat down, tail curling around his paws before he almost stood back up, rolling on his feet in place, "Have you eaten today? Want me to grab you something from the pile? I might get myself something.." He almost mused it to himself. Amber eyes ran over the other tom as Daydreamer searched for his name. Not finding it he gave up, waiting for an answer.
He let out an exasperated snort at the other tom's attempt at a joke. "Oh yeah, come here every day," the ginger tabby responded somewhat sarcastically, but still smiling at the new company. It got kind of lonely in the Medicine Den sometimes; when Graythorn and Thistlepaw were out, and Dawnmemories was fast asleep. He recalled seeing the charcoal tom around Summerclan, but the now-elder didn't think they'd ever had a proper conversation before, since a name didn't immediately come to mind. "Sure, I wouldn't mind a bird or a fish, if you don't mind. The name's Icesplash, though it's a new one. How about you?"

"Daydreamer, I'll see if theres any fish, too much work for prey with feathers," he padded away, returning with a skip in his step as he carried a fairly large fish back to Icesplash. "Hope this is alright," he mumbled around a full mouth, dropping the fresh-kill gingerly at the orange cat's feet. He took a step back before settling before him as well, tucking his paws under him in a lazy crouch. "New name, hmm?" He asked with a tilt to his head, "What happened to the old one?"
Icesplash's green eyes seemed to glimmer as he stared hungrily at the fish, dipping his head in thanks to Daydreamer before leaning down to take a bite. He glanced up curiously at the other tom's question, and paused in his chewing to consider it for a moment. He never had to change his name, but it was something he had wanted to do. It had just felt right. Swallowing his bite, he answered casually. "Most cats called me Seasparkleflash, probably still will for a long while. It's not a bad name, I never disliked it at all, but after what happened..." He trailed off for a moment, not wanting to remember the actual event, before quickly shaking it off. "You see, there's a really old tradition, so old that most clans don't even remember or practice it. If you retire for any reason other than old age, you can change your name to match the reason for your retirement. I'm retired because of frostbite from cold water, so Icesplash."

"Well at least you picked a good one," he hummed, taking his own bite of the fish. He titled his head up as he thought, staying quiet as he got lost in wonder. Finally with a flick of his ears he spoke again, as if he had never paused, "So do you stay here or do you have a spot in the elders' den for yourself? Thatd be kind of neat. Getting to choose where you sleep each night. Better tham getting kicked in the head while youre trying to sleep in the crowded warriors' den."
"I'm stuck with grumpy old Graythorn until he decides that I can get around all by myself again," Icesplash explained, before leaning down for another bite of fish. The daily exercises were tedious and generally painful, but he got why he had to do them. "You're right about the warriors' den though," he added while chewing. "I'm actually looking forward to just chilling out all day with Roachpelt. I'll get a nest in the elder's den once I'm all healed up."

Daydreamer wondered if he could be as optimistic in the other toms' position, and found himself smiling at the idea, thinking of himself telling stories from the entrance of the elders den to the kits, not like he didn't already do as such, but maybe they would see it more excusably if he wasn't supposed to be held to the standard of a summerclan warrior. His eyes slid back over the other and he recollected his thoughts, "How long do you think that'd be? And whats it mean for you? Id be happy to be a side to lean on if you wanted a walk," he offered, the tip of his tail flicking with curiosity.
