Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
The last twenty-four hours had been a whirlwind for the she-cat. She wasn't even really sure how things had ended up the way they had. There had been no sign from the heavens, no moons of training as a deputy, nothing, just a simple favor that was asked of her by the cat that she had succeeded. When she was younger, she had always anticipated the moment when she could have been sure that she made it. She had invisioned it as a grand moment, when cats would chant her name and push her forward into her next step. Perhaps young Aspenkit would have been disappointed at how ... mundane the transition was. Just another day, except not at all.
To say this made her inexperienced was an understatement. Her only qualification, she thought, was that she was a warm body. Perhaps that was all that NightClan needed, a figure head. She was already quite convinced that she would bring more to the table than that, but she didn't know how. All she knew was that her first task was to get her lives, make sure that Phantomstar hadn't made a mistake.
That meant one thing; she had to first engage with the medicine cat. They'd never met before, at least not formally. Aspendust had always been a healthy cat, and so the closest interaction she'd ever had with Ahava was in passing. That would have to change. If she was going to trust her medicine cat to lead her on the trip to earn her lives the following moonhigh, she needed to interact with her first. After all, she'd be witnessing Aspendust at one of her most vulnerable points; her distrustfulness and looming sense of danger told her that that wasn't a good idea until they had at least gotten the formalities out of the way.
After a moment, the new leader's eyes shifted from the waterfall to the feline that she had requested. "Thank you for meeting me here, Ahava Vairocana."

Ahava was a sort of mystery among NightClan, in the sense that few cats knew much about her at all. She'd showed up to NightClan suddenly, and been promoted to Medicine Cat Apprentice immediately, thanks to an apparent sign from StarClan. She had already been older than Turbulentsea back then, and though no one particularly knew her age, it would probably not surprise many to find out she was almost certainly the oldest cat the clan had, though she had not a grey fur in sight. She'd only ever told Flamingstar about her ability, and hadn't actually mentioned her family, though given their prominent positions, it was likely coming time to be more open.
Black eyes blinked slowly as she sat, the left side of her face hairless, burn scars rippling around her now blinded left eye. The startlingly tall Medicine Cat, multicolored fur swishing as she turned to look at the newly named leader. Even in the darkest of shadows, she'd have been able to see the other cat, the bright, rippling blood vessels signifying a living being in her presence.
"You can call me Cana." She offered, expression shifting as a calm, almost eerie sort of smile, presented itself on the strange healer's face. Her plush tail swished, curling gently around white legs as she waited for the younger cat to continue.
"Cana," she repeated, committing it to memory. Her mismatched gaze met the black pools, and for a moment, she fought a chill from running down her spine. It was unnerving to meet a cat's gaze when said gaze was as dark as the night that was settling around them. The leader perhaps too quickly adverted her own gaze back to the crashing waterfall that they sat near. The water was deafening, but not so much so that the conversation the two would hold tonight would be muted. It was loud enough that others would not be able to hear them, but not too loud as to make it hard for her to hear her medicine cat. It was the perfect place, in her mind, to hold the meetings that were of upmost importance.
"We have a job to do tomorrow night," she spoke after a moment. Perhaps it was odd for her to have deferred her lives ceremony for not only one night, but two. Most leaders committed to the ceremony the day they were promoted. That seemed odd for Aspendust. She needed to sort through her own feelings about the promotion before she let the stars guide her the rest of the way. Perhaps that was just circumstance, though. In another life, she might have immediately jumped at her first opportunity. Luckily, or unluckily, depending on your opinion of the matter, this was not another life, and it was the only one she had.
"I was hoping that before we do that, we could get to know each other a little bit? I expect we will be working closely together for the foreseeable future," she continued. The unspoken and I want to make sure I can trust you hung heavily in the air, but for the first time in her life, she showed some tact by not saying it out loud. "I'm not... exactly sure the best way to do this, but we've got all night, no?" The faintest smile crossed her lips. Did Cana sign up for an all night romp with the new leader? Probably not, but Aspendust knew no other way.

Ahava nodded slightly at Aspendust's words. "Indeed we shall be in close proximity." She agreed, watching the she-cat as she averted her gaze, letting the silent uncertainty linger in the air with that unchanging sense of calm about her. "And that we do. Is there anything in particular you wish to ask of me first? Or anything you'd like to divulge yourself? I have many secrets, but few of which I am unwilling to share with you."
She hummed, then answered herself before the new leader had the chance to. "I suppose it would simply be easier for me to begin with pertinent information about myself, instead of asking you to try and think up a question to ask. My full name is Ahava Vairocana Eerie. My mother is Senescence Eerie, Proxy of Primal Instinct, and my children are Fia Cendrillon, deputy of DayClan and mate to the leader Goldenstar, Alvah Faris, mate to Wintrystar of WinterClan, and Lorelei Manina, who lives in the League, and last I recall has four kits running about. I intended to tell Flamingstar about my family, but that isn't something I ended up doing, apparently my mother caused her some trouble prior to Flamingstar becoming NightClan leader, so you're the first, besides the relatives I named, to know about this connection at all. I am also an elemental, as cats would call it. My abilities are entirely visual, I can see all the blood pumping vessels in your body, simple as that." The Medicine Cat tapped a paw on her chin thoughtfully. "Those, I suppose, are the major things about myself that may cause alarm. I haven't really reestablished relationship with my family much yet, but just based on my observations, the family extends far and wide. The father of Flamingstar's kits that she had is from the other side of the Eerie family, but I'm not sure how much you want to be bombarded with lineage in one night, so I'll leave the family stuff at that for the moment."
