Wistfulsphinx had just emerged from the warrior’s den. The dual-colored queen walked her fore legs forward as she gave her muscles a good stretch, flexing her claws into the dirt as her paws kneaded the ground. A small yawn escaped her mouth before she stood up straight again, only to purr loudly as Burntphoenix nuzzled up against her. “Well, hello to you too.” She chuckled. The tuxedo quickly perked up the moment he admitted that he had been cleared. Wistfulsphinx wouldn’t have admitted it out loud, but she had been worried about her mate’s condition ever since he had been wounded.

“Let’s go then.” She purred, already heading towards the tunnel. “So long as it’s light hunting and you don’t over exert yourself, of course.” Wistfulsphinx added while playfully brushing her tail under his chin. “Wouldn’t want you laid up in the soothsayer’s den once more.”

She couldn’t help but laugh as he bounced around like a kitten. Not that she could blame him. Burntphoenix had been forced to rest, and Wistfulsphinx had made sure he stayed in his nest. “You’re definitely right, I would.” Wistfulsphinx countered. “Come on then, soldier, lets stretch those legs of yours.” She teased, quickly trotting through the tunnel. “We’ll make a game of it”

“Oh my, that seems like such a long time ago now.” She chuckled, briefly leaning against him. “Always trying to impress one another. Leaving little gifts for each other.” The warrior let out a low purr as the memories flooded back to her. “Which is why this little game will be perfect. We played something a bit similar on one of our dates. A little friendly competition. Well go out into the forest, and meet back by Lover’s Lane.” She explained, finding it harder to contain her own excitement. “There are four pieces of prey that we both need to bring back to the meeting place. A starling, a vole, a mouse, and one surprise. Last one there gets to prepare a romantic little meal for two”

“Oh...! Burntphoenix wait..!” Before she could stop him, her mate had run off into the forest. The tuxedo queen couldn’t help the small laughter that escaped her throat. It was a good sign to be sure, but there was a part of her that still worried about him. Wistfulsphinx looked around for a moment before she headed off into the forest after him. She’d stay close, always making sure he wasn’t to far from her. Just in case he needed her.

The starling was easiest to take down. She had always been skillful when it came to hunting birds. Surprisingly, her patience when it came to the voles and mice ran low. She wondered how Burntphoenix was doing. She had picked for easy pieces of prey, perfect for light hunting. Now she worried whether it was a bit to much. It had been a while since he was able to stretch his legs.

Wistfulsphinx eagerly kneaded the ground as she hid behind some of the rocks leading up to Lover’s Lane. She had never intended to win this little competition. The plan had already formed the moment she came up with their little game. She wanted to surprise Burntphoenix. It was her turn to spoil him for once, especially after he had been cooped up and her nothing but a nag making sure he rested. She had hid her vole, starling, mouse, and a small quail she had managed to track down somewhere close by. Now she just had to wait for her mate, though her nerves were beginning to get the better of her. Perhaps she should go and look for him... but then she wouldn’t be able to prepare a meal for him... the black and white queen decided that she would wait a few more moments before she would go out and look for him

Wistfulsphinx was just about to get up and go searching for her mate when she heard the foliage rustling with movement. The she-cat quickly ducked back down again, watching with curious golden eyes as Burntphoenix walked past her with a little skip to his step. She placed a paw over her mouth to keep the laughter down, and quietly crawled towards her catch. After she had dug it up, Wistfulsphinx quickly went about grooming her pelt. She wanted to make sure that she looked perfect for their date. She quickly grabbed the four pieces of prey, and emerged from where she was hiding, pretending as if she had taken a different path towards the rendevous point

"Oh, thank you. You look equally as handsome, not a hair out of place." She chuckled, suddenly feeling like a giddy apprentice again. "I stopped after catching the rabbit to clean myself up." Wistfulsphinx purred. "I guess I lost track of time. It seems you've beaten me here. Which means you've won." She chuckled, quickly kissing his cheek. "That means I get to prepare a delicious meal for you. Of your choosing."

"I am excited to see them. It's good to see you so full of energy again." She teased, flicking him lightly with her tail as she pawed through the prey they had managed to catch. "And yes that was the point of the game, wasn't it?" She mused. Wistfulsphinx twitched her ears when she didn't hear him answer. When she turned her head towards him, she didn't miss the smile growing along his features. The queen raised a brow slightly until he spoke once more. Her face flushed hotly, and she was almost taken off guard. Almost.

"How deliciously deviant of you, darling." She chuckled lowly, kissing him lightly before running her paw across his cheek.
