Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Zestal wasn't a fool. He had spent far too many seasons in this world to be thought as one. However...
Whoever planted the idea of his being a tutor on healing and magic to the young and impressionable in Marvelcanvas's mind had to have some sort of agenda on that front.
Scratch that, Marvelcanvas herself had to have some idea of the kind of being he was to undertake training a youngling and thinking it was a good idea.
Zestal prided himself on being a great healer and magic user. The same couldn't be said for his teaching ability. Zes was, on a good day, not the most patient and often quipped sarcastic remarks to cool his frustration.
The child placed under his care and tutelage was going to be eaten alive.
He couldn't very well sit here and continuing staring down at the poor thing, though, so he cleared his throat after what felt like eons of silence and turned his gaze away from Boysenberrypaw.
"Right then. Let's get started." He squinted. What was he supposed to start with? This was already heading down a wonderful path. "How are you?"
βWell I feel rather fine now, it doesnβt hurt to breath as much and I donβt get dizzy when I play.β Boysenberrypaw was a small apprentice, though given he was still shy of three moons it made sense. He had been fling against rocks breaking several ribs and giving him a nasty concussion. Since he survived clearly he was special, while else would Marvelstar make a kit the newest Acolyte.
βThough if I start running my chest hurts a bit. But Iβm really excited to learn whatever it is your teaching.β The lilac tom was chatty and cheerful. Clearly this partnership they were heading I to would be interesting to say the least.
It had been a query more out of a lack of knowing what to say than any real interest in the boyβs health, but it gave them a good start. Zes wasnβt going to look a gift horse in the mouth.
βYes. Youβre getting better, at least. Iβd try and settle down while you continue to heal. Discomfortβs the bodyβs way of signaling to rest.β Zes leaned back. βAnd how are you emotionally? You were given to me rather early. How are you handling things?β
βOkay, I like learning all these things and plus I doing what I want when I want.β It was nice to be called an apprentice, it allowed him more freedom even if he probably should be watched more. Luckily someone, he wasnβt sure who, had made it mandatory for a shadowhunter to accompany him anytime he went out of the city of ashes. Most of his adventures so far had been wandering the territory trying to adjust to his new home.
βItβs kind of dark here, but I like all the green.β He had of course only known MoonClan territory having been born in the camp when SunClan took over. He knew nothing of the sunny and arid home of his birth clan. Still he did have an inborn love of laying in the sun, but that could just be because he was a cat.
Zes nodded his head slowly. Why was he given someone to take care of again? He was already getting bored with the small talk and couldn't think of a single thing to set Boysenberry loose on.
"Right. Well. What do you not like doing? There has to be something. Have you looked through the nests of the old buzzards in the clan? Made sure they're free of ticks? Have you gathered moss for everyone else's nest? Have you visited the nursery?"
Yes, if Zes was to compose a list of things he didn't like, children had to be one of them.
Boysenberrypaw did not know if the clan even had elders, he was still new and with this split of two camps, he was even more confused. It wasn't like SunClan where there was a separate camp for a certain rank, MoonClan had that too, but rather two camps for the general population. So far most of his time had been spent around the City of Ashes because he was just too young to wander around, not to mention the time spent recovering. "I mean I have checked the nests around here, but I was told by Marvelstar that I wasn't allowed out of camp yet without an older cat. Apparently, even though I'm fledging I'm still too young to do things by myself." The sass was clear in his voice. Clearly, he was the opposite of Zes though that was perhaps a good thing. Boysenberry could be the face of the camp and healing while Zes did his job undisturbed.
