Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
As a child of the Jin sect, he had never wanted for anything. Any desire he had, any fleeting thought of a want, it was fulfilled. When he was young, it was his mother and father that fulfilled such desires. When he grew to the age of starting his cultivation training and becoming a disciple of the sect, it was those who served him that saw to his whim. His relationship with his father fell away, while his mother focused all of her energy on securing an alliance with the Jiang sect through the arranged mating of himself and Jiang Fengmianβs daughter.
No matter how he whined when he was at such a tender age of his youth against the idea of becoming eternally mated to someone he didnβt know, nor how he defied his motherβs wishes for him to properly court the princess of Lotus Pier now that he was older, she did not relent. She was adamant it would be an advantageous match for everyone β that he would fall in love with his arranged mate one day and the two of them would be happy.
He saw through her desperate attempts at changing his mind as though she were transparent. Her driven actions were selfish; a desire to bring her friendship with the Madame of Jiang to a higher tier. For that, he resented her.
Still, he loved his mother dearly, even as he verbally bashed the princess of Lotus Pier as often as he could risk. Surely, if it was evident that it was an unsuitable match, the arrangement would be called off and he would be free to live his life the way he wanted. He was a romantic at heart, he knew; he longed to choose his own love and court them at his own pace, not jump head first into a relationship with someone he barely knew.
It was only another thing to add onto the weight on his shoulders. After the fall of their realm, where only the five great sects managed to get out alive, and they found themselves displaced and only barely hanging on thanks to the generosity of SwiftClan, he couldnβt even find peace in Koi Tower, the land that the Jin sect had called home.
It wasnβt the same. It held the same name, it carried the same air, yet it would never be the Koi Tower of his birth. The silver tabby tom scowled at the waters beneath him, the only time he was allowed to pull an expression that wasnβt cultivated blankness. Golden eyes gazed back at him from the reflection. The distinguishing trait of all born to the Jin sect. The distinguishing trait of the Jin commanding line.
