maggot and black thread @atomheart Oh he should definitely not be here.
Maggotpaw was nearly a warrior, though he was still the runt of his litter. He never really caught up, and now his feathery tail was about as big as he was. The one positive of having all his siblings was that it was hard to keep track of them all at one point. It was the only reason he was able to sneak off the mountain and look out the world he only heard of. One that supposedly feared him as a demon. The idea made the sunny field feel dreary.
It was still cold, winter setting in for everyone. But it was nothing compared to Winterclan. Maggotpaw snuck out for one reason, to eat. The scraps he got were stripped clean, and even then he'd have to fight over them with his family. It was better to just give up. But today Maggotpaw dropped into a hunter's crouch, not even thinking about where he was. If he was trespassing. It didn't really matter in his mind when only thoughts of Winterclan pervaded his mind. The mouse that snuck out to collect seeds was suddenly jumped on, neck snapped mercifully. Swiping it up, Maggot whipped his head around to look for a hiding place to eat when--.
Blacksky had been hunting the same mouse and been nearly ready to pounce. Maggotpaw got there first though. So she stepped back to watch the skinny, one-eyed tom for a second. She debated challenging him after all he was technically on SwiftClan territory. But then again there was a reason she was a scout, she was a poor fighter. She really just flailed around. Slowly she circled around so she would approach him head on.
“Um, so this is SwiftClan and I don’t recognize you.” Her voice trembled slightly, afraid that the scarred tom might attack. Yet she tried to stand as tall as she could and look imposing. Of course she was a smaller cat and rather slim, but she was well fed. It was a far cry from the state she was in when she joined.

He didn't need to whip around, she was right there. Great, he was caught. But she didn't smell like Winterclan. A small relief. If she killed him here, it'd be better than Winterclan killing him. Maggotpaw had dropped the mouse when she came out, but now he looked between it and the way back. He wasn't much of a fighter either, not that he thought he would stand a chance against this cat.
"Swiftclan..." He paused, the word odd on his tongue. Like he was this old and didn't even know if Swiftclan was a real place. It wasn't like anyone went out of their way to talk about them. In his mind, only Winterclan and Dayclan existed, the rest more a concept than a reality. "yeah, guess so." Maggotpaw had stayed low to ground, taking a small step back to make it look like he was gonna run. He dove forward suddenly, grabbing the mouse and then charging off the way he had came.
“Oh you don’t have to leave.” The scout was really a poor warrior. She had no desire to chase off intruders and would rather make friends with them, which was probably why she was a scout. That was why she was just supposed to watch for trouble and report back. Blacksky was really a product of her breeding, she had been born in a twoleg nest. Yet it had not been the pampered up ring commonly thought of by clan cats, instead she had been borne in a hoarder’s house. There she had learned to get along with everyone just to survive.
“If you want you can come back with me to camp for more food and medicine if you need it!” The tortie called out after the fleeing tom. She was pretty sure Firetooth would help, maybe. Otherwise she knew for certain that there would be enough food to share, Blacksky always thought there was enough to share.

Maggotpaw should have kept running, it would have been easy to keep running. To eat the mouse without even tasting it and then head back to Winterclan, but he stopped and looked back at her words. How could she offer help to him, just like that? She must now know who he was, one of the demon children. His gaze flicked around, like he was looking for something he expected to be there but wasn't before slowly approaching Blacksky again. "Okay, but I can't stay for long." It'd be less dangerous to go with her, but Maggotpaw was already plotting his route back and how best to cover up the Swiftclan smell on his pelt.
"That's fine, I don't think anyone will mind." She perked up slightly, glad that this stranger was no longer as skittish. Blacksky knew nothing about the demons and frankly wouldn't have cared if she did. She was not a religious cat and all these gods cursing kits made no sense to her. The torite was after all born in a twoleg nest even if it was a crowded one. A little bit of StarClan had worked into her mind though, it was a nice thought to have your ancestors watch over and help you.

Maggotpaw kept his one eye on her, body still tense as he picked up the mouse. He still kept a bit of distance between them, wanting to at least give himself a moment to react if she chose to turn on him. He was trained to not trust anyone, but he kept holding out a hope. Maybe he'd find a relative here, or at least have an okay meal. If he put on too much weight, it'd be suspicious. "It's winter though. Food is scarce." If she wasn't gonna bring up the demon point, he wouldn't either.
