Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Those were the words that she had never thought would be meant for her.
Those were the words he had said to others but never to her.
Pygmyprawn was stunned to silence for a good, long moment. A mad blush had risen to her cheeks and ears. Heat flushed over her coat as several eyes stared, awaiting her answer. Well, that was until literally everyone and their kit started to propose to one another. For once, she actually accepted the insanity because it gave her time to process. It was difficult to swallow a proposal she was convinced would never come from the one she had always loved one-sidedly. Was this perhaps some really weird dream? It had all the components.
No, in a dream he wouldn’t have fled the camp. In a dream some beautiful cat would arrive and sweep him away while she watched from afar. She would pad after him to be there, and possibly fight someone, if they hurt him, but never to stand directly at his side.
Pygmyprawn managed to slip through the love-sick crowd and dashed after him. It didn’t take long to track the ginger tom down. It was her specialty after all.
“Chim?” Her voice was hoarse with shock and that annoying feeling of tears burning at the throat.
“Chim?”
He couldn't go far in SkyClan territory. He didn't know where to begin to look for a quiet place, so he just settled down at the base of one a tall tree beside the creek. It wasn't a willow like he was used to, but at least the melody of small waterworks was sweet and familiar in his eyes.
Chim's ear twitched back as he heard his name, and he turned to look at Pygmyprawn. He smiled despite it all. His stomach was churning with nervousness but he still couldn't stop himself from smiling at her. It was a small, stupid thing, but for such a grumpy cat, it made a difference to him.
"Hey," he replied softly, his half-gaze catching on the tears running down her cheeks. "Are you upset? Maybe I shouldn't have done that in front of everyone, but I didn't want to wait."

She really wanted to box him on the ears, so she did.
What in the world just happened? She wasn’t prepared for him to say that, especially in front of everyone. Chim wasn’t the kind to be just up front and open about his feelings, but especially not feelings for her. She didn’t know if she should be angry or glad, but she felt both all in that moment.
As quickly as she had cuffed his ears, she pressed her cheek against his good side and could not stop the purr rumbling in her chest. It was a strange sound coming from her, the broken, eyes-too-big, grumpy feline that could never be loved. “Wipe that goofy grin off your muzzle before I swipe it off myself.” She huffed, but her words were full of emotion and love that she had suppressed for so long.
Pygmyprawn stepped back after a moment and stared in awe at him, a happy Chim. “But why me? Why now? I always thought...” Her voice broke off and she glanced away, embarrassed.
Chim winced as she struck him. He deserved that, but his stomach plunged. Was she going to reject him now? Was she so angry about what he had done? Had he waited too long?
And then. And then she was pressed against him. Always on his good side; she was always so careful about it, and another wave of affection struck him, made his whole body tremble with heat. She was the one cat he wouldn't mind sitting on the bad side, the one cat he trusted to be there - how did he not realize his feelings sooner? - yet she still chose to make him comfortable and stay on his good side. It was a small thing, but it meant so much.
He wanted to lean against her, but then she pulled away, and he gaped at her quietly as she stepped away.
"That's... I know. I know." He had put those doubts in his mind. The knowledge seared him, a different pain than the agony of waiting for an answer, a different heat from the warmth of being near her. "I think it's always been you, Pygmyprawn, ever since the tunnels. I just didn't know what I was feeling." He paused to try and wrap his head around his discovery. "I met someone, one of those SkyClan cats we stayed with. She was nice. And I think," he looked away, embarrassed, "she had a crush on me. But I didn't want her. I wanted you. That... that doesn't make sense, does it? Let me try again."
