Flickeringflames was not an unreasonable she-cat. Though she wouldn’t say it out loud, she wondered if the gods had made a mistake when they arranged her marriage with Cloudywinter. The russet colored she-cat didn’t hate her wife… she actually enjoyed her company and enjoyed spending time with her. But she was a pure blooded Winterclan warrior who wanted to bring pureblooded Winterclan cats into the world. Something that Flickeringflames couldn’t do for her. But wouldn’t the gods have known that about Cloudywinter? And wouldn’t they know that Flickeringflames never thought about something like that? She didn’t like the idea of having kits or giving birth. Just the thought made her lip curl a little bit. They were cute… but were they that cute? Cloudywinter seemed to think so, and if Flickeringflames was honest her mate would probably be a good mother. A great mother even.
The other problem was that.. Flickeringflames wasn’t a pureblooded Winterclan cat. Her brother, Talonstrike, had revealed the truth of her birth the night that Flickeringflames became a student. Her brother was a full-bloodied Winterclan warrior, but Flickeringflames wasn’t. She was too scared to tell anyone, and her brother felt the same. She hadn’t even said anything to Cloudywinter about it. The dark coated she-cat let out a soft sigh as her thoughts distracted her. She had to focus… but most of these tomcats were just so… rigid… and she still needed to talk to Cloudywinter about this idea of hers. But surely her mate would be okay with a surrogate… or potential future mate.
(Ok so this plot is about Icedragon fathering their kits, and then later the reveal of Flickeringflames only being partial WinterClan blood. This reveal throws Cloudywinter for a loop for she likes her mate, as good almost best friends but not as lovers and was enjoying being her mate. But she holds blood purity to high to stay with the she-cat. It's out of stubbornness that she tries and during this time, Flickeringflames is trying to set her up with pureblood toms, one of which is Icedragon. The she-cat is doing all of these interrogations on toms for the sole reasons that she knows her mate and wife and knows that Cloudywinter values pure blood, wants full blooded wic kits, and doesn't swing towards she-cats no matter how much she tries. That cover everything? Writing it down here or I'll forget later lol)
Cloudywinter had expressed her desire for kits a few times, not openly but in varying moments such as "must be nice being a mom to such strong kits," when speaking to Dottymask. Or when she constantly offers to babysits her sister's children every chance she gets. Or even just the fat the longingly watches the nursery, hoping for a day that there are kits born that need a mother. But her hopes were crushed when she was given a she-cat as a mate by the Gods. It was arranged, planned and gifted to her, and she was happy. Enjoyed the she-cat she was paired with, found them fast and close friends. But that did not stop her from longing for kits of her own, pure WinterClan kits to make the clan stringer. But it wouldn't happen. Not unless some unfortunate accident happened to the parents of a litter, and she doubted that would be the case any time soon.

(Excellent sum up lol that covers it all pretty much!)
The dark chestnut warrior had seen her wife from the corner of her eyes. Alright... Flickeringflames could do this. She just had to ask as gently as possible. She couldn't be abrupt. This was a delicate topic that should be treated as such. She just had to do what her brother would do in a situation like this... yes, that would work. Flickeringflames rose to her paws, gave her long pelt a quick shake, and made her way towards Cloudywinter. She went over in her head how she would bring the subject up. Eventually, the warrior shook her head as she quickly touched her nose to her mate's cheek. "Hey there." She said with a quick smile. "I have a question for you."
Cloudywinter had been spending the last hour lounging by the water's edge, her eyes lazily and longingly watching the nursery as she so often did. When would it be her turn? Her heart wondered this innocent question each day and every chance it got, only increasing the heartache when she was reminded of the difficulties of getting to that point. She was proud of her mate, Flickeringflames was strong and kind, even if she was a little odd sometimes. They were a strong couple, a cute one, and yet they could never be parents in their own right. It startled her out of her sad thoughts when she heard her name called by the she-cat she'd been thinking of. A soft smile was on her lips, love in her eyes, though the love would never be stronger than that of best friends but it was there. Cloudywinter just couldn't get past that barrier either or work up teh courage to ask for a divorce when they couldn't even have that with no kits to raise or future mates planned. IT left them at an odd stand still, but they'd made the most of it. "Yes?" Curious, she tipped her head and flicked her tail in a lazy fashion.
Flcikeringflames sat down next to her mate, curling her tail around her paws as she cleared her throat. "Well... let's see... hang on I had this planned out in my head." The dark-coated she-cat said as she scratched her chin. The warrior never thought she would have to bring something like this up ever. Nor did she think she would ever have to have this conversation. Maybe being blunt would work? No, that didn't seem right. Flickeringflames cleared her throat as she glanced sheepishly at Cloudywinter. "Well... I was just thinking... See, I know how much you want kits... and you know that I'm not entirely crazy about the idea... and well... I know that you're not into she-cats the way that I am and well... okay here's what I'm trying to say." She said with a shake of her head. "I was... thinking that maybe I could find a tom for you? Maybe... set up some dates and things like that? Or maybe just a tom to act as a surrogate father?"
Cloudywinter was noting if not patient, and curious. So she waited, calmly watching her mate struggle for words. But at the word kits, she perked up, curious where this was going. None had bene brought in that she was aware of. Had a litter missed her keen eyes? But at the idea of betraying her mate and going on dates she became frustrated. Didn't Flickeringfalmes understand how devoted she was? How loyal! "You're joking right? I would never date another while with you?!" The idea of kits was tempting but going on dates with another while married was...was just appalling to her. What would her siblings say! She completely missed the she-cat's follow up idea of just having him as a surrogate, to focused on the applied betrayal.

Flickeringflames recoiled just a bit when Cloudywinter suddenly snapped at her. The dark-coated warrior pinned her ears back, fighting the urge to roll her eyes. “I’m not saying to date someone while we’re still married...!” Flickeringflames said quickly. “And I’m definitely not questioning your loyalty, trust me I know how loyal you are! But what I’m saying is... you know maybe we can find someone to be a surrogate father. You know... so you can have kits...! And then, maybe... well you know you’d finally have kits” pao
Pausing for just a moment to hear her mate speak, she heard an appealing argument....but what would her siblings say to that? They' probably accuse her of cheating on her mate, drag her name through the gutter and even disown her. "I..I don't know Flikeringflames...what will cats say?" It wasn't exactly a common thing to do, most she-cat just adopted kits, and most couples like their would take in any litter to claim as their own or one of them ended up cheating on the other and then just claimed to have found them. She knee the rumors, knew how things worked, and her reputation was a lot to think about. Cloudywinter shrink back, basically deflated. She couldn't bring that type of questioning on herself. It be like social suicide. Her siblings would probably tell her the same thing. Though...even they knew how much she wanted kits, to carry on their pureblood line. But would they agree that this was the way to go about it?

Flickeringflames twiched her whiskers for a moment. She had never really cared what others said about her, but she knew how much Cloudywinter cared. The russet-furred warrior stared at the ground for a moment. She understood where her wife was coming from. But, she also know how much Cloudywinter wanted kits of her own. Flickeringflames crouched down next to her, pressing her coat against Cloudywinter’s and tucking her paws under her chest. “Cloudywinter? What if... well what if the gods didn’t mean for us to be mates?” She whispered softly. “They plan everything, right? They know everything about us. I mean... they are gods after all.” She began. The warrior fixed her hazel eyes on her wife, sincerity dancing within their depths. “Well... what if they brought us together... so we could be in each other’s lives? To help each other and support each other? Not necessarily as lovers but... I’m screwing this all up...” pao
Cloudywinter jumped to her paws. "No! They paired us together, it was their divine blessing that allowed us to be married." Deflating, the she-cat broke eye contact with her mate. "Maybe...maybe I just wasn't meant to be a mother." It was a harsh blow to her, to think that the Gods didn't want her to mother and children, and an even harder one to think that she wouldn't be allowed to continue their family line. But she'd been paired with Flickeringflames, therefore, that couldn't be a mistake. Could it? Maybe they should speak with the Witch and Knight of the Stars. Between them two and Wintrystar, they were the most connected to the Gods. "Maybe...." She didn't love the she-cat before her, and looking her over, taking her in, Cloudywinter could admit that. But she was a devote follower of the Gods and couldn't see them being wrong about something. So she tried, tried to force herself to love the cat before her. Her siblings seemed to have successful marriages, so what was she doing wrong? Should she ask them? Would they know? Had she displeased the Gods and that was why no kits had been born for her to care for?

"That's not true...!" Flickeringflames said quickly as she rose to her paws. "Cloudywinter you'd be a great mother! I know you would!" The dark-coated she-cat let out a sigh as she glanced down at her paws for a brief moment. "I know you don't love me..." She said quietly, dragging one paw through the dirt before she glanced back up at her mate. "Not romantically that is, and... you shouldn't have to force yourself to love me like that. That's not something either of us could control. But... I love you... not romantically that is!" Flickeringflames said quickly. "I love you because... well you're my friend... probably my best friend if I'm honest. With that being said... I want you to be happy. I want to see you have a family and to have kits of your own. I want to see you be with someone that you actually love."
racerJadie psst bring in the sibs of Cloudywinter for drama and advises lol Nova
Cloudywinter frowned, she couldn't believe what she was hearing. Tears were springing to her eyes, was...was this Flickeringflames way of breaking up with her? She couldn't face that kind of ridicule! Didn't she understand? She thought Flickeringflames understood! The two of them couldn't have kits together, that was true, but it was also a part of the means of divorcing and thus, even if Flickeringfalmes didn't want to be with her anymore, they couldn't part, so shouldn't they at least fake their marriage? The Gods would be so displeased with them, with Cloudywinter!"And how do you suggest that? We can't divorce, we have no kits between us to call our own nor mates for ourselves to leave for." Unless Flickeringflames did. And the thought of that pained Cloudywinter, the betrayal of that affair was deep even if it was only a thought in a whirlwind of possibilities. "If..even if there is no love between as a couple, we still care for each other, no? We're best friends, and even if I want a family, and kits, and..and all that you speak of, I couldn't displease the Gods by leaving you! They gave me you and I will honor their choice for me!" Didn't Flickeringflames get that? Frustrated and upset, the she-cat squared her shoulders and raised her head to lock her teary eyes on the eyes of her mate. "Come. We'll ask my siblings how they do it." It was no silent matter that there was love loss between her siblings and their mates, but she didn't get how they did it, how they managed face value and made it seem like it was working. At least maybe her siblings would have some advises on how to go about all of this. They couldn't divorce, not if they both wanted to keep a good social reputation, and that was important to Cloudywinter. Her siblings would know what to do to keep them together and to solves this matter of kits and what to do about it. Maybe Flickeringflames would explain what she was offering to one of Cloudywinter's siblings and they could help the couple navigate the idea of finding someone to help them have kits. It seemed like cheating to Cloudywinter, but maybe her siblings saw otherwise? If her siblings couldn't help them, then maybe...maybe it was time to seek guidance with the Knight of the Stars.

Flickeringflames hated it when Cloudywinter cried. The she-cat forced herself to look at her mate, and not at the ground. She really, really hated it when she cried. The ginger pelted warrior swallowed thickly, trying to find the words to respond to her but everything fell short. Especially after she suggested getting her siblings involved. Well, that was just great. Flickeringflames couldn't help but pin her ears back for a brief moment.
"Cloudy, they'll just take your side..." Flickeringflames muttered softly. She hadn't interacted with her siblings all that much, but there was no denying how intimidating they could be. Especially Cloudywinter's brother. "What if we sought the witch? Or even Wintrystar! They would know the will of the gods better, wouldn't they? Not that I don't think your siblings wouldn't understand! I'm not saying that! But... uhm... Well..." pao
( OK I am reading only the last two posts so if I missed something please forgive me xD )
"What are you two crying about?"
As if on cue, Silverfury approached the two she-cat's, blood from a fresh kill still speckled across his muzzle and white chest fur. The massive silver tom always made bigger messes than he needed to, it had always been his way. Yawning, he sat down across from the two of them and began to lick the blood from between his paws.
"WinterClan is thriving and newleaf is upon us. You aught to be rejoicing and praising Lord Borealis for his benevolence."
Cloudywinter, you gets of her siblings, had always looked up to her strong older brother and wise older sister. So in all honesty, she sought their advise and held their words and options far to close. Many would say she’s trapped under their paws or needs to grow her own two paws and stand up for herself but she’s always taken comfort in their guidance, especially now. “Silverfury!” Sniffling a littleand with Geary eyes that hadn’t yet spilled over, she at least a smile that made it to her face at the soft of someone who could’ve in her mind, help them with their problem. Or advice her if it’s a wise decision for their family. Family, status, reputation, and the like shave always been important to the three siblings, especially so to the youngest, Cloudywinter. So bloodlines and kits were a must in her eyes she was just lost has to how to do that and still please the Gods and not betray her mate, clan, reputation, or family.
"Yes?" Silverfury asked, cocking his head slightly, caught off guard by Cloudywinter's sudden display of emotion toward him. Was she happy to see him? Sad? He wasn't good at interpreting matters of the heart, that's why Dottymask and him were such a good pair. They both knew what they wanted from one another and were clear and concise from the start. Love, for him, wasn't the same as it was for Cloudywinter and Flickeringflames, "Is there something I can help you with?"

“Nope!” Flickeringflames said quickly as she shook her head. “No no, everything is just fine, thank you very much.”
The russet-pelted warrior did not want to bring any of the siblings into this. Flickeringflames wanted to work this out with Cloudywinter on her own. But maybe...
“Actually... we were discussing having kits and I proposed the idea of finding a surrogate tom.”
"I see." Silverfury replied, his expression blank as always. He didn't seemed alarmed or even slightly concerned about this development, "I was beginning to wonder when you would start looking for a tom. Cloudywinter, as the pureblood, I assume you'll be carrying them? Meaning it's extremely important that you find a pureblood tom to father them. I can help you find one if you'd like. It's not so hard."
