Weed had reentered the Moonclan camp carrying a large bundle of moss in her jaws. Now that she had prey in her belly, she had a bit more energy to spare and spent that time doing her duties. Hunt for the clan, gather moss, collect some herbs if she was told too. Even her dark pelt seemed to regain its shine after a brief moment of dullness. Her ribs still poked out of her sides a bit, but she would not regain her well-fed frame for a while. The tortoiseshell initiate headed over towards the nursery with her large bundle before she stopped. The queens would appreciate the fresh moss, and Weed quietly snuck into the nursery to make sure she didn’t disturb the mothers and their children. She cleared out the dirty moss, replaced it with the new, and rolled the old nests into a neat ball that she started to kick out of the den. Weed didn’t spend much time in the nursery den. The mother’s needed the rest, and she knew better than to provoke their ire by waking their kits. She remembered how she would give her own mother a hard time whenever it was time for a nap. Weed smiled fondly at the memory before she picked up the bundle of old moss in her jaws. She took it back outside of the camp, burying it beneath the trunk of an old tree.
The initiate let out a soft yawn before she gave herself a stretch. Weed carefully picked bits of moss from between her toes before dragging it over her ears. She glanced back in the direction of Sunclan. How did it look now after the fire? Was it running amuck with rogues and loners? What of those left in the camp. Weed quickly shook her head. It would do her no good to think of that now. This was the path laid out of Sunclan, set in place for them by the Sun God. He would return soon, or at least she hoped. But for now, she looked up at the sky as the moon slowly began to take the sun's place.
"Hi" Came a warm, muffled voice behind Weed. Turning, she would see Waspnest, a thick marble tortoiseshell tom with gentle blue eyes; a scrawny squirreled dangled from his jaws. He was a rather muscular tom but his thick fur made him look fluffy and soft, inviting even. He dropped the squirrel at her paws. "It's not much but I thought maybe you were hungry? I hadn't seen you eat and you've been working all day so..." He scraped his paws awkwardly over the frozen ground.

Weed quickly tore her green gaze from the sky at the voice. She smiled softly at the tom and dipped her head towards him. "Waspnest, hello." The she-cat said politely. Weed had started to rise to her paws when the tom had dropped a small squirrel at her paws. The former warrior settled back down, her whiskers twitching as she looked back up at him. Now that he had mentioned it, she hadn't remembered the last time she ate. To her embarrassment, her stomach had started to grumble at the sight of the squirrel and she cleared her throat to try and cover the sound. "Oh... thank you. The work is never done it seems." Weed said with a soft chuckle.

Weed had crouched down beginning to dig into the scrawny squirrel. When he asked about Sunclan the mottled tortoiseshell found herself looking back over in the direction of their home. A small sigh escaped her as she looked back down at the squirrel. "I certainly hope so." She said as she glanced back up at Waspnest. "The high priest does have a point... we are safe here... and we have queens with newborns. We shouldn't risk moving them. But I don't think I can stay here another minute."
He scoffed. "The high priest...at a time like this, he doesn't deserve that title." He grumbled followed by a huff. "Well, hopefully we will get back home soon. This territory isn't meant for us. It...doesn't settle right with me." He scanned the surroundings as if expecting something or someone to jump out at him.

Weed let out a soft laugh between bites. She had made quick work of the squirrel and had begun to bury the rest of the carcass when Waspnest had taken a jab at the high priest. "Trust me, Waspnest, I'm not a fan of him either." She said with a shake of her head. "But... like many of us, I am tired of trying to fight him..." Weed admitted as she sat up. "But I know what you mean. Things haven't felt right since the night of the blue moon. I think the moon goddess has made it quite clear how displeased she is with us."
"Yes, and Bloodystar is so thick, he can't see that. Forgive me for speaking so poorly of him, I'm just angry and homesick. I'm just ready to go home and have a full belly once more." He sighed, looking out toward Sunclan territory. "Even if we could go home, the land is probably so scorched that it would take moons to recover. There's even less vegetation than we ever had, if any at all, which drives prey away. It's going to take a very long time before anything is back to normal...Though, none of this would have happened if Bloodystar hadn't-" he cut off, thinking best not to be such a downer. "You know what? Forget it. Are you too tired to join me for an evening stroll? Perhaps we could get all of this negativity off our minds if we can at least find the beauty and peace in the night for once."

Weed shook her head and placed a paw on Waspnest's shoulders. "Don't apologize for voicing your opinion. The Sun God only knows how oppressed we are when it comes to such a thing. If you must speak, speak. Do not hesitate. My only suggestion is to be careful when, and where you do it. Trust me I learned that the hard way." The tortoiseshell said as she recalled her humiliating demotion for speaking out against the high priest. "I feel the same as you do, Waspnest. I want to return home. Visit the sunflower fields, and bask in the warm glow of the sun." The tortoiseshell didn't speak about the scorched lands or the fire. She didn't want to think about it how long it would take for the underbrush to recover. "But I think an evening stroll would do us both good. Perhaps we can even find more prey to fill that belly of yours." She said with a small teasing tone as she rose to her paws.
He gave her a grateful smile with a nod. It was good to hear that someone else felt the same and understood his thoughts. His whiskers twitched in amusement at her light teasing. "That would be wonderful." He purred, falling in step with her as they exited the camp. "I hope your good with directions because I will probably get us lost." He joked with another twitch of his whiskers.

"I'm afraid I won't be of much help." Weed said with a small laugh as she made her way out of Moonclan's camp. "I'm just as unfamiliar with the territory as the rest of us. But I suppose it would be an adventure nonetheless, wouldn't it?" She questioned as she looked back at him, her tail twitching just slightly
"I suppose your right. What fun would an adventure be if we didn't get lost?" He purred, quickening his pace until he was in step with her. "So, what is your back story, Weed? Y'know, apart from being...ehem...demoted."

The mottled tortoiseshell flicked her ears for a moment before a soft smile tugged at her lips. A small chuckle escaped her before she responded. "Well... both my parents were proud Sunclan warriors. I was a part of their only litter. My father died before I was born, and my mother never took another mate. I had one sister, Lilacblossom... we were incredibly close. We looked alike as well. Only she had a bit more white to her. We did everything together, you could hardly separate us... we grew a bit distant after our mother died. We were still apprentices... Lilacblossom didn't take it so well and I buried myself in my training."

“Sadly, no.” Weed said with a simple flick of her tail. “My sister ran off with a kitty pet that she had fallen in love with shortly after we became warriors. I haven’t seen her since.”
