sooo, if you have kits and want a bit of interaction, bonding, or to learn a bit about the territory and such of summerclan roachie is here to help c; also he's a smol, ugly, lovable boi who likes to feel useful
Roachpelt had noticed just a wee bit of tension around here since Ratstar's decision to close the borders. It was leaking into the day-to-day of the clan, even making the kits a bit unsure. He didn't like to see their little faces lined with worry and uncertainty, it had inspired him to spend more time with the whole lot of kits. If he could soothe their fears it would make him feel more useful.
This morning found him beside the nursery, Guppykit in front of him, as he demonstrated how best to make a good mossball for playing.
Weevilkit wasn't really paying attention to Grandpa Raochpelt's demonstration; the fuzzy, dark-grey little tom wasn't even facing the elder. Rather, the energetic kit was behind the older feline, stalking Roachpelt's ragged brown tail as it swished back and forth behind the elder, his big yellow-green eyes almost transfixed on it. Every so often Weevilkit would attempt a pounce, but every single time he would miss and roll across the nursery, before jumping back up and darting behind the elder again.
Like Weevilkit, Pikekit was also practicing his stalking, but his target was not Roachpelt's tail. He shadowed his grey denmate's movements until he discerned the most opportune moment and, taking his chance, leaped onto Weevilkit, bowling them both over this time. They rolled until they bumped into the elder, and Pikekit jumped up and shook his golden fur free of moss scraps. "Gotcha!" He purred, flashing the cheekiest of grins at his friend.
Iridescentkit hovered close to Roachpelt's paws, almost underneath the tom, and watched as the older cat crafted the perfect mossball, enraptured. Too timid and worrisome to construct his own, he was brimmed with scarcely contained excitement and itched to pounce on the ball.

[ sorry everyone for the wait! 2020 went out with a bang but 2021 is already giving me some good news <3 ]
Roachpelt's tail twitching to and fro was not a coincidence, more of an ability to interact with more of the kits he charged himself with caring for. He heard Pikekit pounce on Weevilkit and stifled a chuckle, pausing his lesson to collect himself. "Anyway, smooth down the moss a bit on the side and there you go!"
He rolled the ball to Iridescentkit while Guppykit started on his own mossball.
Iridescentkit pounced on the mossball as it headed his direction, but he (somehow) did not account for it to be moving and ended up scorpioning himself in the dirt on the other side of it. "Oof," he gasped. Sitting up, he rubbed at his chin a little and knocked off some of the dirt, but his white chin was still peppered with some remnants. He turned to Roachpelt with quivering eyes. "Why did it run away like that, Roachie?" He wasn't sure if he should be addressing the elder that way, but he'd heard other cats do it so he was testing his luck.
"Woah!" Weevilkit let out a surprised squeal as Pikekit barreled into him, sending the pair tumbling across the Nursery and bumping right into an amused Roachpelt. He didn't get up right away, blinking up at his denmate dizzily for a moment as he regained his bearings. Then, his face lit up with a huge grin. "That was great, Pikekit! Ya totally got me! Gramps, did ya see that?!"

Roachpelt chuckled, not minding the nickname one bit. He'd always been called Roachie, it was stranger for him to be addressed as Roachpelt. "It don't wanna be caught, Iridescentkit. But try again, you'll catch the rascal."
Another low laugh from Roachpelt and a nod to his grandson, "I sure enough did, Weevilkit. Looks like Pikekit is gonna make us all proud one day, eh? SummerClan is strong with you lot."
Pikekit stood a moment after Weevilkit did, his friend having been draped across him following their tumble. He beamed with pride at Roachpelt's compliment. "Me an' big ole Weevilkit here are gonna be the clan's best warriors!" He announced to the elder with a nudge against Weevilkit's shoulder. Considering Guppykit's presence and their adventure out of camp, he added, "Guppykit too! Iridescentkit will warn us about all the enemies."
Iridescentkit froze when he heard his name accompanied by enemies, and he checked around the den wildly for any sign of a threat. Seeing nothing, he expelled a sigh of relief then pounced again towards the mossball. A miscalculation had him landing on Guppykit's tail, cupping it beneath his paws. "This doesn't look like a mossball? I-it's a snake!" Hurriedly, he sprang away and took cover behind Roachpelt.
Shaking out his constantly tangled fur as he stood up, Weevilkit grinned broadly at Roachpelt and Pikekit's praise, his chest puffing out slightly with pride. "We're gonna be the greatest warriors Summerclan's ever seen!" He announced confidently, only to be interrupted by Iridescentkit's shrieking. Forwning, he raised an incredulous brow at his denmate. "That's not a snake, that's just Guppykit. Snakes aren't even furry, Papa told me so."
