Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
"Must we do this much walking, the ground is so hard," Lionpaw moaned. Having come from WinterClan he was used to not feeling his paws most days and even when he could the snow was plush, soft, sometimes even squishy from the slush.
Tigerlily rolled her eyes, "Not that you would have anyway of knowing, but SunClan's been a menace lately. We need to ensure that they aren't becoming territorial or hostile towards us after defeating them. Now how about scouting up over those hills to check for prey while we carry on to the border. We can catch some fresh kill on our way back."
Watching Lionpaw leave she carried on with the patrol, but turned around when she felt everyone was slowing in pace. "Or does anyone else have anything they want to moan and groan about?" She asked turning towards the patrol. But with her back turned they could hear Lionpaw yelp and then something large with wings flash past them through the sky, over their heads and down towards the Everbleeds. It only took moments for Lionpaw to come running over the hills in panic, of course Tigerlily's back was turned and hadn't even seen anything.
"Not particularly. DayClan is a nice place to live," Creeksong replied, his eyes taking in the forest not the sky. Whenever he compared DayClan to the League, the dichotomy was almost as stark as life and death. The forest breathed, it had cycles but was just as strong as it was weak, in perfect balance. The city, on the other paw, was like a casket, the thick concrete and asphalt almost suffocating... yet he still missed them at times, "Do you have something stuck in your fur you'd like to discuss? I understand you a new to this Clan, too. Let's---" But before he finished talking, Lionpaw came stumbling back, and he trained his stormy blue eyes on him, instantly fascinated, "Why the hurry?"
Pandora didn't usually patrol. Rather, the she-cat sort of flitted in and out of DayClan's lives at will, like a mysterious wizard who appeared at random moments to over random bits of sage advice. Most recently, she'd participated in the election, and shortly before that, she'd given Autumngossamer her powers, entrusting them to the she-cat. She'd been fearful about it in the moment, but the ex-Soothsayer had given the power back as promised, and from the accounts, and the fact Bloodystar had the other half of the accompanying power she carried, it seemed she'd done the right thing.
Of course, she was significantly more calm in having her powers back, though her heart was still grieving for the loss of Glowstar.
It seemed like the others didn't care, seeing as between the three adults so far, Pandora had been the only one to keep watching Lionpaw, to notice the flash above their heads, something heading for the mountains, and her ears pricked in surprise. "There's no way that was an eagle." She murmured more to herself than to her companions, though she was distracted in the next moment by Lionpaw running back.
"IT'S TRUE!" Were the first words to explode from the apprentices mouth, "My mother always told me there were griffons in the Everbleeds and there are! I saw this massive creature fly past me, it had big wings like a hawk, but the face was furry!"
Tigerlily face palmed herself, after all she hadn't seen it, "So, is this what we're doing instead of patrolling?" She asked looking at the rest of her patrol, but her ear twitched in annoyance when she saw each of their heads turned towards the mountain before she had even finished her sentence, "ARE YOU KIDDING-" She let out a deep sigh, "Yeah, alright, let's go. That seems to be just a thing we do in DayClan. Go on ordinary errands that turn into misadventures."
Lionpaw was practically skipping ahead, "Excuse me," He said politely as he walked backwards in front of the adults, "Do you think we can tame it? Like give it to an Animal Whisperer to harness it's power of flight to take us places?"
"No. Cause it's not real," Tigerlily said to her cousin, who at this point was her adopted son that Snowthorn and her were raising.
"I saw it too." Pandora answered instantly. "That thing was definitely not a normal bird." She watched Lionpaw skip ahead, hoping for the Animal Whisperers to tame it. "Guess it depends on what they're like. Maybe it's too dangerous to tame." The auburn and cinnamon swirled she-cat wrinkled her nose slightly at Tigerlily. "We have elementals, and cats who have killed or cursed gods. Would this really be the craziest thing the clans have seen at this point?"
"What about it wasn't normal, Pandora?" Creeksong would trust Pandora before he did Lionpaw, although it had nothing to do with age. He knew that she had half the power of a God. This meant that her opnions held more weight, espeically given the limits of a natural cat's eye. As a rule felines were nearsighted; a bird two or three hundred feet in the air would be too blurry to make out much more than the a general shape, "I'm doubtful that this is anything more than a large bird, maybe an eagle, we are close to the mountains after all."
"So... has anyone decided what we are going to do once we find this thing?" Heatherpaw wasn't so sure about following after this mythical creature. Griffon or eagle, it didn't matter to her, both were threats from above that she'd never see coming. As her heart rate increased she felt her squirrel's paw against her back, patting her down much like how he'd bury an acorn but it calmed her down nonetheless. That's right. He'd certainly warn her if anything swooped down, maybe even protect her, he had sharp teeth after all.
"I agree, there have been many supernatural things, but what do they all have in common? No matter how almighty a being is, even a God, they all hold the same form of a cat. There has never been any wild creatures or odd transformations, that is unheard of," Tigerlily reminded her, but moved forward nonetheless, "I can tell your interest is captured so we may as well continue after it."
"We're going to have the animal whisperers tame it, duh. Better get ready Heatherpaw," Lionpaw said, with a teasing smile, "You're so lucky, I bet the other animal whisperers that chose to be prey experts are going to regret it now. You'll be able to go home and be like, I am the griffon tamer." He laughed after using a deep voice, but was immediately nudged harshly by Tigerlily.
"Keep your eyes forward and your jokes to yourself," Tigerlily said as he continued her lead. Lionpaw was constantly an embarrassment to her and Snowthorn, but he knew better than to continue his antics after a warning.
Lion went quiet, but kept in stride with the rest of the patrol rather than with Tigerlily. He seemed happiest when he could joke around and be himself, but that hardly ever showed since Tigerlily or Snowthorn were always by him.
"Yeah that's what we're do-" Lionpaw was about to explain to Divepaw how they were headed to find the griffons right now, but unbeknownst to him and noticed by everyone else, said griffon was hurling right towards him.
"Li-" Tigerlily began to warn, but it was too late. The griffon plowed right into Lionpaw sending him off his paws and skidding across the fields.
Tigerlily's head swerved to look at Lionpaw, but instead when she felt the predator looming over her she looked back just in time to see its large talons dash in front of her. Leaping back she snarled only to realize that this griffon was... Not what she expected. It certainly had the head of an eagle because it was an eagle. As for its supposed body it was carrying a small brown dog with brindle markings.
"Huh," Tigerlily said right before narrowly missing the eagles second strike at her. It might not be a griffon, but it was a giant eagle. In fact the only griffon here was the dog. She recognized it as the griffon dog breed, they were a popular pet in one of the locations her and her mother traveled to.
Heatherpaw felt the air shift as the eagle swooped toward the group, "Squirrel, heel!"
Squirrel stayed close as he was directed but started yelping, although it wasn't his alarm sound, no, it was... friend?! The griffon hadn't swooped toward them in a little while and Squirrel kept nipping at Heatherpaw's paws, his way of saying 'Move' whenever she was stalling out. She was terrified but emboldened both by her squirrel's support and the patrol with her. She surprised herself by taking a tentative step forward, Squirrel in light with her, and approached what she soon realized must be the griffon.
"We mean no h-harm..." She said feebly but it was overshadowed by Squirrel who kept giving off excited yips, his tail shaking from side to side like when she gave him his favorite treat or belly rubs. Remembering how she had won over her squirrel, she offered the magical animal a small mouse she had been conveniently carrying, "... For you."
"Tigerlily. Ever killed an eagle?" Creesong asked, the bird had been targeting him for the last few minutes and he was growing annoyed with it. He unsheathed his claws and stretched, getting ready to do battle should the patrol leader agree.
"No, but I saw one pick up a fox before so let's just say I'm intimidated," Tigerlily said, watching the massive creature with wide eyes. In the sky it looked big, but here it was even bigger. Spotting a nearby hole in the wall of a rock Tigerlily nosed Heatherpaw in the direction of the makeshift cave, "Walk forward and feel the rock ceiling wall and go inside," She ordered before running to Creeksong's aid, ramming into the massive eagle, "Run to the cave opening," Tigerlily told the rest of the patrol, backing up as she made sure everyone else moved forward to the cave. She had multiple lives now, which meant being expendable for the sake of the clan. She hadn't realized that was what this position meant until this very moment, staring into the bird of preys eyes.
Pandora, for her part, wasn't so willing to listen to Tigerlily and hung back. Mostly because she actually had the abilities to fight back. "Are you trying to get yourself killed!?" She practically yelled at the Immortal Council member, standing only half a pace behind the she-cat as she grabbed at her, trying to shove her back along with the rest. "Just let me handle it!" That wasn't arrogance talking, she had nearly burned down SunClan and DayClan once, something like this would hopefully be no problem.
"Fine, I didn't see you stepping up," Tigerlily scoffed, walking back over to the cave. "When you roast it let's bring it back to camp!" She called out with a sly amused grin at her own comment. She had only heard stories of Pandora, a little rumor here, some conversation there. But from all accounts they seemed reliable.
