Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Catriona tapped her tail on the dusty ground. She was growing impatient with Nera. He should have been here... she paused in mid thought to look up at the sun and measure its distance in the trees from last she looked. Well he was late and that was all that mattered.
The white angora blinked pale green eyes and took a deep calming breath, by Devonei she would have him walk backwards around the camp four times with his eyes closed before they actually started some training.
"Sorry, boss," he meowed with a shrug as he padded up. Nera looked unbothered by the fact he was late, but, in all honesty, he didn't expect this mentor to last any longer than any of his others thusfar, so what was the point in trying to impress her? She was his forth mentor, and he doubted that she would be his last. At this point in his life, he was convinced that Kerrigan was going to make him stay a Kadet for the rest of his life, so, really, why bother?
His nose twitched slightly. "I'm sure you can probably figure it out, but I don't think we have to waste time with basics. I have been a kadet for four moons now." His tail twitched. "A personal hell to punish me for the sins of a previous life, I guess. We can probably just cut to the chase, then."

The white feline lashed her tail and raised a brow. "Yes Nera for sure. Lets do just that." Honestly the idea of having him walk around the cam backwards had been just that, a passing idea to ease her own tensions. But now as the snarky tom made his case or rather demanded his mentor move him up in the world without having assessed him herself... her lips curled in a small secretive smile.
"I think if you are ready its time to strengthen your awareness and balance. You can already walk. You can already run. Maybe even manage to catch a mouse here and there." she rose to her paws and out of her seated positions. "Lets make it so that in nearly any condition you can still manage to get from point A to point B."
She looked out into the forest and gave a sharp nod. "Follow me. Backwards. We will walk first. Dont trip or we start over."
Nera raised his brow, offering a bit of a laugh. "Oh, really? This is how this is going to go?" There was an incredulous nature in his voice, and it was tempting to the tom to deny her altogether. It wasn't like he particularly cared about being in the situation, or making a good impression on her, after all. "Out of all things that we could waist our mutual time with, I think that this is a particularly bad choice," he then meowed, before muttering something else under his breath. "How am I supposed to know where you're going? Are you really that noisy that I could hear your steps?"
He turned around, his ear flicking. Although he was already not particularly a fan of this other cat, he was going to end up listening her (even though he wasn't sure it was even worth it since he was sure he'd be a kadet for fifty years either way). Which meant he was now in position to go backwards.

"That is the point." she meowed ignoring his previous complaint. "I am actually quite light on my paws and expect you to both focus on whats around you as well as on your steps. Don't get so distracted with either or you will fail the other." she started to walk doing as she promised to keep her steps light but not ghostly. She glanced back to watch his progress. She would give this young bull headed tom plenty of seemingly useless tasks to do and eventually he would thank her for them. When they saved his life or a clan mates.
He rolled his eyes at this, but luckily for him, she woudln't have been able to see it. This was dumb and also stupid and quickly the tom was beginning to wonder if it was even slightly worth his time to even bother. It probably wasn't. It never was.
"Aren't you supposed to give me some instruction how to? Or are you just a lazy mentor? Not the first one I've had that can't do a job," he grumbled mostly to himself, before easily sliding through his first few steps backwards. He was light on his feet, which was maybe unsurprising because he was mostly leg. It was as if he had done this before, never letting his feet quite lift from the ground as not to trip.

"You're pretty reclusive for a cat who talks so much." she shot back. "And if I gave you all the answers I'd be telling the Tsar to promote a useless Poda to a Viony. No sense in that now is there?" She kicked a pebble under his feet with a hind paw. "Watch it kitten fluff or you'll fall." she turned course into the brush and off the easy trail. The stream her destination. The next task would be waiting for him there.
"Getting involved with others has never gotten me anything but trouble." He thought about Softkiss He hated to think about her, about how she was happy now without him. Perhaps he should have expected that, getting involved with a girl from another group, but there had always been a selfish part o him that thought that they could make it, that when she said she was pregnant they could ride off into the sunset together. Life hadn't been so kind to him, and she told him with a tight smile that this was for the best. And then there was Ivyblast, his first mentor. He could still see the blood sometimes when he closed his eyes. Trailwalker had deserted the group. All three of the cats who had ever come close to him were gone. There was no point in letting anyone else in...
"Dammit," he hissed as he caught himself before falling completely down. Unfortunately for him, this train of thought distracted him. It caused pain to well in his eyes and hurt to appear in his chest for just long enough that he would stumble.

[aw what a sweetie DDDD':]
"You are distracted." She said pointing out the obvious as she stepped easily over a fallen log and turned to watch the young tom do the same... backwards. She didn't know what could be running through his mind but it was something he obviously needed to deal with. "Sometimes it helps to get over things if you talk about it." she turned to continue to walk.
The tom closed his eyes as he pulled himself back through the task. "Who says I have anything to get over?" the tom meowed defensively. He didn't want to talk about it with anyone, especially not this cat. He didn't trust her, would probably never trust much of anyone, and even if he did, this was pain he had to deal with himself. It wasn't something that was meant to be broadcasted; his secrets were fatal.

"You didn't have to say anything. Your pain is written all over your face and your movements. Your like a sulking owl caught in a storm." she weaved under a briar bush and popped out the back. "You can turn around now. We are at the stream." She padded out of the lush growth and onto the flat moist earth of the streams bank. Ahead was a small tree that had fallen across it. Its bark stripped bare from extended time exposed to the consistence pull of the water. Its bare skin smooth and slippery. "try to get to the other side without slipping." she said flicking her ears towards the log.
He bristled at the observation she made. He didn't like it, didn't like being read. He didn't like vulnerability or being called out, and most of the time, Nera wasn't. The last time that he had been, it had resulted in a fight, but he was pretty sure he couldn't fight the high priest's sister. "We all go through things," he muttered sullenly before following her instructions. "It's part of life." He was a dedicate of Cauil, so it was a normal part of life.
He glanced at the bridge made by the rock and blinked twice. There was nothing to hold onto really, but if you walked slowly enough across it, you'd be able to prevent slipping, right?

"I promise I won't let you drown if you do slip. Though I think you could stand up in it." She meowed with a glimmer of amusement in her gaze. "At best you'll look like an over grown wet squirrel."
"If I requested in an extra-nice tone, could I convince you to go back on that promise?" he meowed with a blink. Of course, he didn't think his mentor would say yes; it would probably look back for her if her only assigned kadet died in their first day of training together. With that, he found himself stepping on the slick wood. He would have to be incredibly careful if he wanted to get across it, he decided, before taking another step or two forward.
