Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Wailingkit stumbled out of the nursery, her one paw having no feeling whatsoever today. Luckily she could feel all three other paws. So she was considering that a win. She glanced around the oddly empty camp, it was midday so everyone must be out for the day. She settled among the tree roots, not feeling like climbing today. Plus last time she did that she had been yelled at. Frankly she was tired of always being told no, she can't do that for some reason or another. Honestly she wouldn't be surprised if one of the queens stopped Hystricstar from promoting her. They always seemed to be out for her and her siblings for being too loud, too messy, just too much.
With a huff she set her head on her paws, watching for something fun to do. The leaves skittering past did not interest her at the moment, chasing them was a bit old. She was nearly ready to be allowed out of camp and was more than ready for it.
To some chasing the leaves was a trivial nursery game for newborn kits. Not big, soon-to-be-apprenticed kits like Breezekit.
And yet, he never got tired of streaking around camp and batting at the fleeting leaves. Hailing from WinterClan, the small things of living in a clan not frozen in time were still marvelous and astounding to him. He was still struck with wonder, especially as his prey crunched and crinkled underneath the weight of his paw. He released a joyful purr before sweeping a gaze imbued by starlight across camp, noticing Wailingkit and deciding to venture over to her. "Hey, I'm Breezekit. Whatcha doin'?" He glanced curiously at the roots bundled around her, like a little bed perfectly made for her.
Wailingkit was at that point where she was trying to act mature and the dismissal of games she enjoyed only last week was part of it. Not to mention that she could so easily trip and land flat on her face which would not help her argument that she could be an apprentice. Every single action she had been making lately had rested on that idea. Of course her siblings had their own problems but nothing that would truly affect their dirtier chances. She was broken out of her self pity party by Breezekit.
“Oh nothing, just thinking about stuff.” She stood up to stretch and wobbled slightly on her paws. The calico would be no amazing climber, though there were other options for a cat like her long term. But for now she was determined to only think of the best outcome. It would do no good to worry more than she already did. Not to mention half the time she struggled to keep her emotions in check.
"Thinkin' about what stuff? How awesome and handsome I am, I'm sure." His svelte words were joking but only just. To say he had an inflated ego would be an understatement, but Breezekit practiced what he considered to be a healthy amount of self adoration. He wouldn't call himself vain, just...confident.
He was not perceptive like his sister, Ghostkit, and did not listen to the nursery's rumor mills, so he had no idea about any curses or any afflictions or really anything that would pertain to anyone that he'd never met before. It made his judgment pure and untainted, unlike many others in FallClan. He gave Wailingkit his signature cocky smirk before taking it upon himself to clamber onto the roots, settling down into a sitting position right as she stood to stretch.
“Oh just about getting promoted to an apprentice, I can’t wait.” She really did want to learn new things and see more than just the inside of camp. There wasn’t an inch that she hadn’t explored on good days. “I just want to see more than just this place.” While she had heard of other kits escaping to explore the territory, she just had too much worry. What if she collapsed or something attacked her. It would be much safer to wait until a warrior was paired with her and could safely venture out.
Looking him up and down she acknowledged the tail end of his statement. “You aren’t bad, though I have seen better.” Her tone was teasing and her voice was edging on laughter as she spoke. It was nice to find someone who didn’t look at her sadly or straight up avoid her.
He placed a paw across his heart at her preposterous claim. "Better than me? Oh, how you wound me, Wailingkit." With the dramatic flair, he gasped and allowed himself to tumble to the earth, rolling onto his back and sticking all four feet up in the air. Only a moment passed before he peeked open a beautifully golden eye. "Are you sobbing yet? Feel free to start anytime."
Breezekit flopped himself back onto his belly, pelt askew with leaves and dirt, but he didn't seem to mind at the moment. "Why wait to be apprenticed? There's a whole world waiting to be discovered. I've already seen it all," he claimed, lying smoothly through his teeth. He had certainly seen a lot in his short life, trekking through one territory to settle in another, but really he just wanted her to be impressed by him.
“Oh well I guess a lot of the queens like to tell me I can’t do this or that.” She shrugged, used to being discouraged and sometimes accepted it. At times she rebelled against those who told her no and other times she listened to them. Wailingkit was really trying to figure herself out, it was kind of hard when your own body rebelled against you. Right now it meant she could decide if she wanted to be angry or depressed.
“What’s out there?” She asked, curious about the world that was just out of reach. There clearly was something exciting out there otherwise why would the kits be kept inside. Plus she heard that there were tunnels somewhere around the territory. Tunnels had to lead somewhere exciting, because if something was kept secret it had to be good.
