Anemoneshade really didn't wanna give birth out here, away from home.
The camp was nice, but it wasn't the same. She missed her dad too, who seemed to go missing after the fight. Even if she began wondering where he was, sharp pains would take her out of that moment. Anemoneshade didn't really know what to think, so she kept to herself against the back wall of the nursery. An oddity for such a social she-cat.
There was no such thing as kitting in privacy. The scent of blood was enough to draw the whole clan. An odd part of her wanted to be alone for this, but also knew she'd barely make it by herself. When all was said and done, seven little bundles were by her side.
The first one was auburn and white, with tiny black spots on them. She couldn't tell if they were rosettes or not. He reminded her of sweet fruit from summer days gone, so she named him Watermelonkit (sugar) - Jadie
The second was a much darker red than she expected. Maybe a mix of her father and Bloody. Almost dark enough to look like he was injured, but the way his stripes swirled reminded her of snow. So she named him Peppermintkit (kiss) - berry
The third was creamy, like a warm beverage. She could even make out some lilac on her pelt, the first one that reminded her of herself. Wispy traces of black and cream were in there too. So she named her Nutmegkit (freckle) - MorteAutumnal
The fourth had smooth markings, even for just being born. Ginger and white, another off white one that made her look like her sister Nutmegkit. But instead of multiple colors, her face was splashed with a slightly darker ginger in such a delicate pattern that it looked planned. So she was named Butterscotchkit (drip) - stardance
The fifth one seemed to come from her entirely. His stark lilac pelt was almost a shock against his warmer siblings. But she could see peaks of cream and white in his pelt, as well as a large white spot on his chest that looked like a clover. So she named him Shamrockkit (smoke) - @samiam
The sixth one brought it right back, reminded Anemoneshade of who the father was. She was a light ginger, a delicate color that almost made her worry she would rub it off. The color slowly left her the further down she looked, until her paws were a stark white. A few faint marks on her were intertwined, and reminded her of flower petals. So she named her Sunflowerkit (patch) - Phantom
And the seventh one was lilac all over again. It made her a little glad that she shined through some of these. Where Nutmegkit has little bits of lilac, his was all over, only a few bits of cream and white that almost circled over the lilac. Like he was a berry bush. So she named him Boysenberrykit (bite) - @atomheart ~~~ So jadie and I like rapid fired the designs, so feel free to change them if you don't like them. They're eyes are all closed now, but all of them are some shade of green except for Nutmeg's who's are blue and Sunflower's who's are a dark brown. You all know the usual. Please be active and we hold the right to re-adopt them out.
Despite being pretty much the only healer in SunClan these days, no one had alerted Bloodystar of Anemoneshade's labor, so he didn't actually arrive until word got to him that the kits had been born from a third party. Naturally this put him in a foul mood when he entered the makeshift nursery.
"You should have called for me," He said sharply, nosing at one of the kits. These were his first blood-kits, but nothing about them were living up the dream he had of fatherhood. Anemoneshade was pureblood SunClan but she was a nobody, hardly the royalty that Satinlights and Jetfire had been. She wasn't his mate or wife and, perhaps most glaring of all, these kits were born in MoonClan. He could picture Selene laughing at him, a twist to the dagger she'd left in his heart from the last time he saw her.
"Seven kits. An ominous number." The number of rightful Clans minus one. It was just like Bloodystar to stretch reality to fit his narrative, he didn't always have to use magic to do that. He turned his burning celadon eyes on Anemoneshade, "Did you name them already?"

It was disconcerting.
It wasn't like she was trying to hide it. Anemoneshade honestly expected someone to smell it or hear it and go get Bloodystar. But that didn't happen until they were born. And she didn't know how to feel. It felt like a wedge was placed between her and the rest of the clan. Maybe her dad was right and they should have left.
But that wasn't the way for wide-eyed optimism, and even though she was exhausted, her eyes did light up when Bloodystar entered the den. A little late, but better than never. "Sorry. Was a bit busy here." Anemoneshade laughed. It definitely didn't feel right. Or look right. How he didn't even care, only touching one of the seven kits. They didn't care, now either drinking away or sleeping. But she did. It was like they were up for evaluation before even doing anything.
The sorts of twists in his mind weren't in hers. This was her first litter, the first step towards the dream of supporting Sunclan. With the cat she was still in puppy love with. He shined greatly through the rose tinted glasses she wore. They were starting to crack as she frowned at his next statement.
"I think it's a lucky number." Her tail draped over some of them, trying to give them as much warmth as she could. "Like the seven colors in a rainbow. And I did, I hope that's okay."
