Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
(Glowstar will come back, but for our plot Goldenstar will be the new leader and Berry will call the shots! NO ONE KNOWS GLOWSTAR SURVIVED, she is assumed dead from the fire.)
Autumngossamer looked between Goldenphantom and Leucisticcrow, they were the last two, one of them had to have a majority vote. The air was tense, currently between the two of them the votes were an even split, thirty and thirty. However when she looked at Cloudfur and Buttercupglow's third pick it was Goldenphantom. Placing the remaining two pebbles into Goldenphantom's pile she smiled up at her friend, "The new leader of DayClan is Goldenphantom!" She shouted.
Leucisticcrow grinned at his opponent and leaned back, "Good fight, you'll be a great leader, Goldenstar."
"GOLDENPHANTOM! GOLDENPHANTOM! GOLDENPHANTOM"
Fairytalehunt's heart fluttered hearing the victory go to his mother. Harvestcharm was also on his paws in surprise, but happy that his vote for Goldenphantom helped secure her place as leader.
"So miss leader, got a victory speech? Any big changes you want to share with the clan?" Autumngossamer asked, but paused if Goldenphantom began to talk early before motioning to the pointed stones where Glowstar used to give her announcements.

It was tense. Watching Autumngossamer count each stone, the golden tabby had to hold her paw over her mouth to keep from laughing. Out of every two cats it could be, how did it end up being them? One complete chaos, and the other as ordinary as could be. She expected Windchaser or Burningsummer or even Vixenkismet to be up here. But instead, she was, and her tail thumped against her paws. Her breath still as the last two pebbles dropped into her pile.
Goldenphantom, no, Goldenstar, wasn't expecting this outcome at all. It was Autumngossamer who even nominated her, Goldenphantom was fine to just sit in the back and support whoever won from behind. And now she was here. Goldenstar. Goldenstar. It didn't feel right on her tongue. She was able to take Kasdeya's spot in the immortal council, and now she was taking over for Glowstar. Both cats she looked up to. It brought a pang to her heart and she let out the breath she forgot she was holding.
Even being cheered on, she felt so alone. In the Immortal Council, she has Fia, Windchaser and Yuccablossom. But as a leader, there was no one. But Goldenphantom wouldn't let that stop her. Couldn't. She needed to keep Dayclan safe, no matter what. It was a 51/49 vote. No way everyone was going to like her, or the ideas she had taken inspiration found. They weren't all going to like her. But as long as they were safe and happy, they could hate her as much as they wanted.
"Thank you, Leucisticcrow. And good fight too." Goldenstar purred as Autumngossamer pointed up to the stones. She had never really gone up there until today. Not for this. She was used to standing with Dayclan, not above them. But now the new leader smiled at the once soothsayer before climbing her way up there. It wasn't horribly high, but looking down at everyone made her uneasy.
"Cats of Dayclan..." Goldenstar addressed as everyone fell silent. It let her take a deep breath, steel her nerves briefly. "Thank you for your honesty, your passion, and your votes no matter what side they were on. We all strive for the same thing, to keep the security and prosperity of Dayclan alive. I thank you for letting me step up and lead Dayclan towards healing and greatness." She was always on the more succinct side, not a lot of flowery speech. But she was earnest, and that was enough to keep her going.
"In my original statement, I said I wouldn't change much. However, listening to everyone's ideas and seeing the votes made something clear to me. Some of you seek change, and some of you don't. While I hope to appease everyone, I know not everyone will like the decisions I make. And I ask that you come and speak with me to work it out. I'm willing to speak with everyone and listen to your ideas."

-changes time- i gotta leave in a bit so i'll add more
"The first thing I'd like to address is this election. What we just went through. I believe in what we chose, but it was a time of uncertainty and stress. And I wouldn't want that for us again. For now, I'd like to appoint Fia Cendrillon as my deputy. With two slots opened in the Immortal Council, I would like to invite Burningsummer and Tigerlily in to it. The deputy position will be fluid, letting any one of the members of the Immortal Council to switch out so long as the clan and I approve."
"The next thing I'd like to speak on are our medicine cats." Goldenstar cast her gaze down, catching Brakewing's. "To be honest, Brakewings. You haven't proven yourself as a worthy medicine cat. Not to mention bringing a demon into Dayclan that would have slaughtered us all if given the choice. I'm sorry, but I cannot trust you after that." It did bring her some sadness, to demote someone right off the bat, but it was better in the long run. "Darkpaw, you don't need to worry your own position. We are blessed with many talented healers, and I'd like to ask Vixenkismet and Ebonygold if they would mind training Darkpaw as well as Fairytalehunt. If you would like to be a council of healers, I'm more than willing to make the arrangements for such."
"I will check in with Commander Shule and Funk E'tan about our alliances with them. I will also reach out to the Mountain Clans and Swiftclan to see if they are interested in one. The only exception is Winterclan."
"A popular topic was branding. And while I'm against branding everyone here, I think Vixenkismet was onto something with branding traitors. We can't keep releasing them as always, or forgiving them. I'd like it to be effective immediately, and I'll let Fia take charge of that."

Fia Cendrillon, naturally, wore a bright grin on her face at Goldenphantom's win, chanting "Goldenstar, Goldenstar!" As loud, if not louder, than anyone else. No matter what, she would always be by her wife's side, there to help with anything she needed, as a mate, and as a member of the Immortal Council. Of course... she couldn't let such an occasion go to waste, and the she-cat slipped out of sight, in search of a suitable gift. Or, well, she would have, but she stopped short, head whipping around to stare at Goldenphantom as she was announced deputy officially, a promotion for sure. Her grin turned a touch more mischievous still at the mention of branding, and she flexed her claws while doing what could only be described as a little happy dance at the idea. Maybe comforting, maybe not.
Senescence, for her part, didn't particularly mind either way, one was her brother, the other, her daughter-in-law, though admittedly, Luc would have been funny. Though she had her own business to attend to, and quietly rose to her paws, heading for Skipstep.
Honestly, Vixenkismet didn't even expect to get as far as she did. Third place. It wasn't a win, by far, she had about 23% of the vote when she'd been eliminated. Still, a quarter of the clan in the end was more than she'd have thought would trust her. It was disappointing, but altogether not surprising, that she'd lost, and she gave Goldenphantom a simple short nod of acknowledgement. She also found herself surprised at being invited to train Darkpaw, and gave another short nod, this time a small smile slipping across her features. Burningsummer in the Immortal Council, and herself training the Medicine Cat Apprentice alongside Ebonygold. Maybe she lost the big title, but she certainly hadn't been given nothing at all.
Burningsummer blinked surprised by the offer, but she nodded. "I would be honored to join your Immortal Council Goldenstar." She meowed. Though she did side eye Tigerlily as she did so. Did Goldenphantom have to select Tigerlily to promote? Oh well, at least with her sitting on the council, along with Windchaser, and headed by Goldenstar and Fia, there was a limit to what Tigerlily could pull.
Plus if perhaps Tigerlily truly didn't wish to be a puppet for her mother. She could be a good member of the Immortal Council for DayClan.
Goldenphantom hadn't been her pick, but Mysteryleaf still nodded in approval. Her ideas sounded good, and she glanced around to see what her mother thought and she noticed her mother's absence. "Mother?" She meowed softly, glancing around for her, frowning when she didn't immediately see her. She went back towards the nursery, able to hear mewling kits from within. She poked her head in, eyes widening when she was greeted with the sight of her little siblings squirming in Crimsonrose's empty nest.
"Mother!" She hissed, Mysteryleaf spun around and hurried out of the nursery. She lowered her nose to the ground trying to pick up her mother's scent, while not disturbing any of the others. Her mother was a maverick and the last thing she wanted to do was clue in someone like Snowthorn of her and her siblings new vulnerability while Crimsonrose was absent.
Skipstep had been quietly observing all this, a frown on his face, tail flicking behind him. He had kept quiet throughout the course of DayClan's election. Though he watched it all go down attentively as whoever won would determine how much of a help DayClan would be in stopping Bloodystar and saving Littlestar.
Goldenphantom... wasn't a bad pick for stopping Bloodystar, but she certainly was more focused on DayClan. Meaning she likely wouldn't be giving many cats to searching and rescuing Littlestar. He let out a sigh lowering his gaze to his paws, heart aching with the loss of his mate. At least Brilliantbeacon was hopefully going to recover and he could visit her. But without Littlestar, or Jetclaw, everything felt empty. He'd miss his sister dearly, but knowing Littlestar was somewhere out there... but just out of reach made his heart ache with longing. His world would be devoid of color until he saw his wife again.
Rubyflame felt like a weight had been eased off her chest. "Congratulations Goldenphantom!" Truthfully she'd only run because she didn't want to let Vixenkismet take over. But with Goldenphantom taking over, a cat she knew would do well. Rubyflame knew she didn't need to worry. And in truth almost coming in fourth, (admittedly behind Vixenkismet, showed how much clout those former SunClan cats had), wasn't too bad and left Rubyflame feeling rather giddy with excitement and anticipation.
She moved back over to her mate. "Hey Fang, what do you say we, leave all the chaos and go have some alone time?" She asked her mate pressing up against him. "Y'know, ride out all the excitement and adrenaline a bit more... privately?" She said lightly with a purr.
He approved of their choice of leader, and the dark ginger tom rested nearby. He was tired after a long day of treating injuries from the battle, and he lay on his side with one eye open to watch his clan. Tonight, he would take the new leader to get her lives, and...
Brakewings felt eerily calm as his demotion was announced. As his livelihood was torn to pieces around him, as his destiny crumbled at his paws, as he saw his life as a warrior again for the first time.
The dark ginger tom propped himself up and wove through the crowd to stand before the rock, his head tilted back to look up at the leader with a clear gaze.
"Goldenphantom, you're making a mistake," he called. "I haven't proven myself worthy? Tell me, what do you consider worthy?" His head tipped to the side. "I've delivered kits, I've healed wounds, I've guided my clan to the best of my ability. If you're asking me to apologize, I won't; I have done nothing to wrong this clan. It is true I could not save all of my clanmates, but ask any medicine cat, and they will all tell you the same thing: sometimes the power is simply not in our paws."
Lioningsnarl had died of his wounds from the twoleg attack; that was still a raw wound in Brakewings' belly. The medicine cat had few him the best healing berries he had, but they had been fruitless.
"The demon you mention," his ear twitched, irritated to hear his oldest friend referred to that way, "did more for this clan than most cats. She had some poor inclinations, but she had no real power most of the time, and I was there to take her good advice and leave the rest behind. I hardly think she could be worse than asking a known poisoner to be your healer," he scoffed. She must be joking to ask Vixenkismet of all cats to help them. He had been the one to treat Funk E'tan's wound all those moons ago, not her. He hadn't succeeded, but that was beside the point, the fox-hearted feline knew nothing of saving lives, only taking them.
His voice sharpened with scorn as Brakewings forged on. "I wished for Fairytalehunt to be my apprentice, but to do so would have been disastrous. He was suffering in his training and in the end, leaving him behind was the only way to save his vision. Would you rather I let a happy cat go blind for no reason? It is against a medicine cat's nature to do harm by allowing unnecessary injuries. He will bring ruin to this clan if you let him stay." His hackles stood on end as he stepped forward. The edges of his muzzle lifted and curled back, the muscles rippling waves as he snarled up at her, his fur tensing on end as his back arched and he shook out his fur like a coat of nettles. "I was destined to become the medicine cat here, chosen by StarClan themselves. You have no power to remove a medicine cat, no leader has that authority!"
Ebonygold was surprised to hear he was invited to be a medicine cat again, even if only to train. He opened his mouth to reply. but was interrupted by Brakewings, and closed his eyes with a great sigh.

Senescence hardly concerned herself with what was going on. Her daughter and daughter in law would run the clan just fine, so she didn't really need to pay much attention beyond that, grabbing Skipstep by the scruff suddenly when she neared, and dragging him out of camp without so much as a word, or an explanation to anyone in the clan, though she expected most would be far more concerned by Brakewings outburst than the random Maverick. Jetclaw
Fia Cendrillon would have loved to be going to get Goldenstar a present right now.... she deserved it, for her win. As it so happened, they were already facing troubles in their leadership. For good and bad, the newly named Deputy was quite different from her mate. The ashen colored she-cat was significantly more violent, very obviously of the Eerie line, and copper poured over her amber eyes for a brief moment as she stepped up to the now ex-Medicine Cat, though in the next moment, her eyes seemed normal once more. She was calm as could be, though any cat in DayClan would know full well that if he made a move to hur her wife, Fia would have not a single issue with ripping him limb from limb, and the paw she laid atop his was all the warning he would get to calm down. "StarClan are guides, they are our ancestors, not absolute authorities. If we hold them to a standard of infallibility and are required to obey them, then we are no better than SunClan themselves, following their God unquestioningly, rationalizing even horrific abuses. That being said, if they take issue with your demotion, they are welcome to send a sign, and we shall take that into consideration." The deputy glanced at Autumngossamer for a moment. The she-cat had been getting much of StarClan's communication, and well, Fia expected the ex-Soothsayer would let her or Goldenphantom know if something came up. Then her eyes turned back to Brakewings, waiting. Cleaver
Skipstep let out a gasp of surprise. The tom hadn't expected any trouble when Senescence had approached. Absorbed in watching Goldenstar's victory and the changes happening in DayClan.
Thus he didn't fully realize anything was wrong until the teeth were already in his scruff and he was dragged away from the crowd.
"What are you doing?!" He hissed, trying to pull free, paws flailing back towards the group. Before he ceased his efforts.
Everyone was focused on the new leader and Brakewings. None of them even realized the tom had been pulled away, and Singedwolf, arguably one of the few cats who might notice Skipstep's absence had not been by Skipstep when he was grabbed.
Skipstep grit his teeth, twisting trying to see who was dragging him, and got smacked in the face with some of the undergrowth for his efforts. He spat. Ugh DayClan and their different plant life. If this was the desert he'd have been able to not only see his assailant but come up with a way to fight her off.
As it were it felt like the cat had picked the most aggravating undergrowth to drag him for. Because every time he tried to twist and see who had him, he got smacked with various flashes of green.
Well, she couldn't drag him forever. So glaring at the sky as he was dragged along, he waited to see where they took him.

Goldenstar's breath hitched in her throat. She knew there was going to be conflict in this, knew Brakewings wasn't gonna go down without a fight. There was also a reason Goldenstar chose Fia and not just because the two were mates. It was because Fia could be that reckless, could be more aggressive and say the things Goldenstar would fear saying. They balanced each other out, and Goldenstar trusted Fia enough to let her do this.
She came down from her place on the rock, a few other ideas she had rattling around, but she wanted to get the most important ones out of the way. Because only Golden could approach Fia like this, and place her paw on top of Fia's other front paw. "Brakewings..." She started, pausing as she looked to the ground for a moment before up at him again. "I apologize for the sweeping statements I made about you, but I will not back down from my decision. I will hear you out on these matters, but I believe no matter how long we've been at something, there will always be more to learn. We have great healers and apprentices who want to learn, so why not pool everyone together and become stronger from it. You are more than welcome to join them as well. Autumngossamer and I will keep our ears and hearts open for any signs from Starclan about this, and I'll have no issues giving it back to you if that is what they desire." It was, admittedly, a very fancy way of saying she didn't trust him. Every medicine cat made mistakes, she expected no less. But everyone knew how... poor he was at his job.
So her moms were the leaders of the Clan. For some reason it made Divinefavor sick to her stomach. It wasn't that she didn't think they were good for the job. No, her problem was that having high profile parents - Autumgossamer included - made it harder and harder for her to avoid the conflicting emotions she'd been fighting since she found out the truth of her "adoption." Nothing felt resolved... but at least she was getting better at hiding it. She cheered Goldenstar along with the rest of them, then for Fia as deputy, then wrapped her tail around her paws and fell absolutely silent.
Brakewings stared hard at Fia, and there was something dark and unfriendly in his gaze. The russet tom was not prone to violence, and he was not going to change now, but the way she flagrant dismissed their ancestors, pretended they were at all similar to SunClan, made his blood boil. And no other cat questioned her! He whipped around, glaring at the cats around him. Did none of them treasure or trust their ancestors? How could they truly believe what she said?
"I am not an apprentice," he told Goldenstar icily, turning back to her with his head held high. He had lived that life twice; wasn't that enough? "If I have more to learn, then so does every other medicine cat here. What makes them more qualified than me? Cats have died on their watch, so many more," he accused, flashing a look at the elderly ebony tom. He had been a healer for a long time, he must have seen countless deaths. "And if you're so concerned that we're like SunClan," his attention shifted back to Fia, "then why would you allow SunClan cats to be your medicine cats? If you hate their guidance, you shouldn't want them to be interpreting prophecies for you. Being a medicine cat is far more than just healing."
His lip curled and he took a step back. "I see that you hate me," he meowed solemnly, "and for no good reason. Every excuse you try and come up with makes no sense. But if you truly wish to turn your back on the stars, to go directly against their wishes by demoting me and promoting Fairytalehunt, then you have no one to blame but yourself when the ground turns to a mudslide beneath your paws."
Knightrunner stepped forward. "If you haven't forgotten that the cat whose curse turned everyone into kits, stated that she worked with you." The dark tom meowed. "Perhaps it is you who should question where you have been going to guidance."
Illuminatedpath tilted his head eyes narrowing. "Knightrunner brings up a good point. Back when DayClan had spirit guides, apprentices weren't always consulted by StarClan, but opened themselves up to those down below. Who has guided your steps closely Brakewings?" The ginger and white tom queried. "If you cite who has spoken to you, who has guided you, perhaps that'll provide some support to your fitness as healer."
Brakewings considered ignoring the pair entirely, but Illuminatedpath was a respected member of the clan, so with a hint of frustration, he turned to face them.
"I haven't forgotten anything," he replied. "Yellowmoon cursed the clan, yes - but only after moons of service. She has helped all of you in so many ways without you knowing. It was just her cover, of course; she had to appear friendly so we would let her get close enough." His smile was cold. "But I am not a fool, Knightrunner. I could sense which of her intentions were genuine, when she was truly helping us, and when she only wanted to cause chaos. She would have so many of you dead if I hadn't intervened." His neck fur fluffed. "Besides, she was not the only cat I spoke with. StarClan has always whispered in my ear. They have guided by paws, and when Yellowmoon grew too restless, they told me how to handle her."
His voice was so strong and confident, it was difficult to detect exactly where he was lying. That was the benefit of falsifying every word out of your mouth: there was no detectable falter in his tone to suggest he was being untrustworthy.
Post by Honeystorm on Nov 25, 2020 18:37:50 GMT -5
"Maybe I'm wrong, but I think Yellowmoon's history speaks for itself." Laughingsky stepped forward, the young imperial blinking at Brakewings with amber cored cerulean eyes. In so many ways, the tom resembled his father, Eternalstar, though his smile was not carved, but genuine. Even in this moment, he seemed to be trying to be kind to the medicine cat. "She's never been a friend to DayClan. My father is proof enough of that. She mutilated and killed her own children." He shook his head slightly. "Perhaps you should take this time to really reconsider whether you really understood her intentions, or if that was simply her way of manipulating you." The Bright Brigade tom came from a place of genuine concern. Based upon all he'd heard from his grandfather about his father, his grandmother, Yellowmoon was not to be trusted.
Vixenkismet cleared her throat. "That bit about StarClan speaking to you is a lie, Brakewings. A few moons back, Autumngossamer received a string of prophecies from StarClan. She said that because of the demon bonded to you, StarClan couldn't speak with you. That's why she ended up with the prophecies. I'm going to suggest that demon was Yellowmoon." She didn't really expect anyone to trust her, but Yuccablossom had been there, in addition to Autumngossamer. The rest of the Immortal Council, and even Darkpaw, had shown up eventually too.
"Then I believe that speaks for itself." Illuminatedpath said with a sigh shaking his head. "Goldenstar I think you should stick to what you stated first. That Brakewings be demoted and cease to be responsible for the faith and healing of our clan. Lest through him Yellowmoon causes more damage than she had already."
"Agreed," Burningsummer said nodding. "I also would recommend sticking to your first decree Goldenstar," Her gaze softened. "Your instincts are correct." She added, hoping to encourage the cat to stick to her guns and take charge in the way her position allowed.
