Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
The last thing Glowstar could remember was an eruption of pain and fire, but waking up these were definitely not her paws attached to her legs. Sleep tugged at her eyes, but she strained to keep them open. Even the light seemed to pour in... Differently, like her senses weren't worn down with as much age as they used to.
For a long moment she stared at her white paws, too exhausted to move or speak as she fell in and out of sleep. Night turned to morning, the change in time was startling enough to make her get up onto her paws, but she immediately collapsed from getting up too fast. The den didn't look familiar at all, nothing like DayClan, SunClan, WinterClan, Renegade Regime, or Primal Instinct, which narrowed things down quite a bit.
"Where am I?" She asked, but it wasn't her voice, "Hello," She said more to herself, testing out the voice. It belonged to her.
Bloodystar had hardly left Glowstar's side since the battle ended. She was his trophy, after all, the only proof that he really did win against the Fire Nation. She was also so much more than that, though. She was his mother, now more than ever.
Hearing her stir, the High Priest entered the den and lowered his head to hers, burshing his cheek against her. Around Glowstar there was no reason to keep up illusions to he let them down. The poor guy was pretty badly singed, half his whiskers were gone as was a patch of fur on his face, and his front right paw was wrapped up so securely that it must be pretty dire. But he'd be OK.
"Glitterfreeze," Bloodystar said her new identity so gently, as if offering up a name to a queen for her new kit, "I'm so happy to see that you are awake. Right now we have set up a temporary camp in MoonClan, but plans are already underway to take back the main camp. How are you feeling?"
The confusion wore away when she felt Bloodystar nuzzle into her face, his touch never startling, but loving. She purred returned her sons affection with a quick instinctive kiss on the cheek. She seemed in too much of a weakened state to object to the name. The stress her body had gone through to alter its appearance had taken enough out of her, not that she fully understood what happened. But as her eyes settled on Bloodystar's injured state she immediately sat up, her paw rushing out to the side of his face, but stopped short of touching. Her vision paw dissolved into darkenss along with the rest of her vision from sitting up too soon. Nonetheless her paw knew where to find its place stroking the side of Bloodystar's face, "You're hurt," She said as her vision slowly came back to her, patiently waiting for the fuzziness to clear.
She looked at the paw extended out to Bloodystar and retreated it back, "I feel exhausted, but... Am I someone else? Am I Glitterfreeze?" Did I take someone else's body? That's what she wanted to ask, but at the same time wasn't sure if she wanted the answer.
"You can touch me, it doesn't hurt," Bloodystar said, acting like he didn't want her to fuss over him, but if that was the case they he would have kept the illusion going. No, he wanted Glitterfreeze to dote on him in ways all other parental figures in his life had failed. When it was just the two of them, he was gentle as a kit, and just as predictable as one.
He placed his wounded paw over Glitterfreeze's snowy white paw and flipped it upwards, revealing the cutest little pink toe beans literally on this planet. It brought a smile to his face which his mother would have absolutely seen as he lifted his gaze back to meet hers, "I thought you were as good as dead, but the Sun God had other plans. The flames consumed your body and from the ashes you were restored in this new form. It's not an illusion, I'm sure you can feel it, your scent is even different, and your voice... But you are more beautiful than ever. Look!" He pulled back and gave Glitterfreeze and good look at the tabby swirls the lined his flank, then pointed at hers, which were just the same, "We match!"
Bloodystar laughed and it really did reach his eyes, "A new face demands a new name, so I chose Glitterfreeze. You have always shined bright and I hope you always stay that way."
Her eyes lit up like starlight, deep in wonder as Bloodystar flipped her paw over explaining that it wasn't an illusion. He was right though, it really didn't seem like an illusion at all. Reaching back in her memory she knew that Bloodystar had hit her with an illusion of fire, but then a second wave of pain came from a different direction, one she didn't know was from Autumngossamer. Maybe she really did perish and come back.
"Thank-you, I love it, Bloodystar," Glitterfreeze purred. Her voice before was more chaotic, hushed with compassionate grace one moment and strikingly tense the next. But now her voice was soothing as a lullaby with gentle heavenly subtitles that made the diction of her words and tone of her voice angelic. "Now I really do look like your mother," She said as she tenderly began stroking his fur back into place with her tongue. There really must have been quite a bit of chaos given his fur was in a bit of a disarray. When she looked pleased with his fur she gave him a small nuzzle on the nose, "There, now you're even more handsome."
Any traces of a warm blue in the sky left by the sun were gone and in the same moment a glowing light emitted from Glitterfreeze's body. The light illuminated her entire figure until she was completely engulfed. With one bright shimmer the light faded completely leaving Glowstar in Glitterfreeze's place.
Glowstar lifted up her paw then the other, one white paw, one auburn, back to normal. "Cool," She grinned, "Can we go freak some SunClan cats out now that they'll think I'm a ghost?" It just made the most practical sense, after all. Bloodystar had already made it clear he didn't want her to return to DayClan after the war, which meant she wouldn't be allowed to leave as Glowstar. But maybe a distraction would help, after all she couldn't let the world believe she was dead.
Bloodystar's first reaction to Glowstar's transformation was to bring Glitterfreeze's glamour back. He felt the familiar tingling sensation that followed the usage of his amulet, yet, when he peered back at his adoptive mother, there was no change in the way she looked. The colors around her were bright and more intense but no matter how hard he tried to make her appear as her new form, nothing happened. He could hear Autumngossamer laughing at him all the way from DayClan. She'd won again. It made the fur at the base of his neck bristle at the thought.
"Absolutely not," Bloodystar growled, his smile dissipating as swiftly as Glitterfreeze's cinnamon roll swirls, "When you look like this you cannot leave this den. The Forest believes that you died and I want it to stay that way. I'll figure out how to fix this so you can stay Glitterfreeze forever... Once that's done, you'll be able to live your life as you have always wanted to do, no strings attached. Reborn. But until then..." He turned his celadon eyes back to Glowstar. He looked so, so tired and, above all, defeated, at least in the moment, "... You'll just have to lay low. OK?"
