Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Days always moved slowly, crawling by even slower than a snail's pace. It was like he was but a phantom, spectating the world through another's eyes. Life and death had always been a grey zone for the pure black tom, ever since the day his wraith of a mother vanished. Now, doubts sprang into his mind as he watched the caves through narrowed yellow eyes, where he knew the one who stole his sister's life was being held. He had known, back when they first became apprentices, that there was something between the two of them, but he had chalked it up to a crush. Oh, how wrong he was.
If Legendarydemise had known better, he would never have let Fabledpaw out of his sights. Now, he felt so alone in the world. Part of him knew that he should turn around and head back to camp, try to move on with his life, but the memory was too fresh in his mind. It was enough that he had forced himself to forget for one night, for the Celebration of Lights, but it had been difficult to do. He let out a sigh, his claws digging into the dirt beneath him, his eyes never once leaving the caves.

Vixensong had left camp for a little bit, wanting nothing more than to stretch her legs. The russet pelted warrior had started to grow more comfortable coming and going, wandering through Fallclan's territory with more confidence. Though she still felt a bit anxious and awkward living within a clan rather than on her own, she was starting to open up a bit more. The celebration of lights had seen to that. She had never seen so many cats enjoy themselves together in one place. Her brother had even teased her when she cracked an awkward smile or two.
The she-cat paused for a moment when she caught the scent of one of her clanmates. She wasn't sure which one it was. Vixensong was still learning to identify her clanmates by scent. The warrior started to follow the scent, staying cautious, and aware of her surroundings as she moved through the territory. She twitched her whiskers when she saw the silhouette of Legendarydemise. Vixensong tilted her head. He was one of the first cats she ever really interacted within the clan. He was nice and they had spent time together at the Celebration of Lights. But even she had noticed the change in him after the death of Fabledpaw, and she couldn't fault him for that. She wondered if she should turn back, but Vixensong didn't want to leave him alone. She cleared her throat briefly before calling out to him. "Legendarydemise?"
It seemed that Legendarydemise had been too distracted with his thoughts and the caves, as he hadn't even heard Vixensong approach until she called his name. Even then, he wasn't sure if he actually did hear anything, or if it was just his imagination playing tricks on him. Lately, it tended to do that quite a bit. Perhaps it was his lack of sleep that was causing him to hear things. He was ready to write off the voice as another instance, but then he actually noticed the scent. The figures of his imagination didn't have a scent.
Tearing his gaze away from the caves was more effort than he would ever like to admit, and he was only able to meet Vixensong's gaze for a moment before turning his head back. As if he would come out the moment that Legendarydemise looked away. Deep inside, he actually feared the moment that he saw the monster again, but he was also afraid of letting him out of his sights. It was a weird and contrary feeling. He let out another, deeper sigh and turned back to Vixensong, doing his best to give her a smile in greeting. Ignoring her would only hurt him, and he knew that. She was perhaps the only one that he would consider a friend anymore, with how often they seemed to run into each other. "Something wrong?" he asked, rather ironically.

Vixensong twitched her whiskers as she watched him. He had briefly glanced over at her before quickly focusing back on the caves. Her green eyes glinted with worry as she observed his movements, and she found herself straightening up when his gaze landed on her once more. "I should be the one asking you that." The warrior responded as she made her way towards him. The russet pelted she-cat settled down next to him, not terribly close but not too far away that there was a large space between them. It was a comfortable distance for the she-cat. She glanced over at the caves. Vixensong couldn't know for sure, but she had a feeling she knew who he was here for.
"Are you alright?" She asked softly, glancing back up at Legendarydemise. "I know... well I don't know... but well... I can only assume that this whole ordeal hasn't been easy on you." Vixensong said before dropping her green gaze from the tom. She had known death before as well, losing both her mother and father. But she wouldn't dare assume that what Legendarydemise was going through was the same thing. She would never assume such a thing. Still, she found herself stumbling over her words in an effort to help her friend during this trying time
The smile on the black tom's face twisted for a second as the question was shot back at him, but he soon relaxed as she continued talking. It really wouldn't help to be so on edge around Vixensong, especially when it seemed she was only trying to help. While normally he would say he was fine and move on, his rather comfortable friendship wasn't something he was willing to risk by lying about this. Though, what if his thoughts scared her away, made her think that the death of his sister had driven him crazy? It had certainly already driven a wedge between him and his remaining family, causing Lorepaw to leave, though Mythbreaker had always been rather distant.
With one more glance at the caves, Legendarydemise now fully turned his attention to Vixensong. The smile completely wiped from his face, he let down as much of his shields as he dared. "No, it really hasn't," he replied, his voice sounding more tired than he had meant to let on. "As much as I blame him for it," he motioned towards the cave, but kept his eyes locked on the she-cat next to him this time, "I can't help but feel like I should have known something was wrong." No, he should stop. Opening that floodgate wasn't something he wanted to do right now.

Vixensong tilted her head slightly as she held his gaze. It seemed at first like he wasn't going to say anything, and though she wanted to help him any way she could the she-cat wouldn't push him. She was pleasantly surprised when he seemed to finally let down some of the walls he had put up. The warrior stayed quiet, never dropping her gaze as she listened. Her heart went out to him. She curled her tail around her paws, licking her lips and hoping she'd be able to say the right thing.
"Do... what I mean to ask..." She began. "Do you blame yourself? Because... and please, I hope you don't take this the wrong way... well... It's not your fault, Legendarydemise. How could you have known that this would happen?"
Was that pity in her voice? Or concern? Sometimes, Legendarydemise couldn't tell the difference, but at least she didn't break their locked gazes. He knew that if she were to look away, he would immediately go back to staring at the cave, and that darkness that seemed to squeeze his heart would grow again. No, he had to focus on the she-cat in front of him, and so he hung on to her words as she spoke, despite his gut telling him they were words of pity. A flicker of anger rose, but he immediately snuffed it out. He didn't want pity, but he also couldn't be sure that was actually what it was.
"How could I not?" he responded the moment her question registered in his mind. "I had thought his obsession with her was some sort of... some kind of childish crush. But, the looks that he gave her-" he stopped, shaking his head, the words leaving a foul taste in his mouth. With his claws digging into the ground, he started again. "He had murder written all over his face, you would've had to be blind to not see it. Blind, or stupid." And he was definitely the latter, to basically allow this to happen. He was shaking, his paws trembling from the amount of force he gripped the dirt with.

Vixensong quickly glanced down at his paws after noticing the way he shook. Oh her poor friend... she wanted to comfort him in some way, but she wasn't sure what would work. Her whiskers twitched as she lifted one paw and stretched it out towards him. The she-cat hesitated for a moment, her limb shrinking back against her body. Would he push away from her? Would she drive him away? Was it too forward? When her father died, her mother had receded into herself. Vixensong could hardly get a word out of her mother, not unless it was criticism. Should she share her experience, or would he think she had turned the situation around to be about her. Her paw hung awkwardly in the air as she slowly looked back up at him.
"You're not stupid." Vixensong said softly, her tone laced with worry as she spoke to him. Before she continued, she swallowed thickly as she gently placed her paw over his. "Please don't... well... that is..." Vixensong took a deep breath before continuing. "Don't blame yourself. Don't put that on your shoulders. Its easy to do so... easy to blame yourself for what happened. But the real criminal is in those caves. He'll never reach Starclan... he'll never be forgiven. But you? You're blameless, Legendarydemise..."
At first, Legendarydemise flinched at the warmth of her paw on his, nearly tearing it away. He certainly didn't deserve the gentleness that Vixensong was treating him with, and while his mind still doubted her words, he found himself wanting to believe in them. Ever so slowly, he loosened his grip on the ground, easing into the warmth of Vixensong's paw. Would it really be so bad to just trust what she was saying? He hated himself, almost as much as he hated that imprisoned monster, so much so that her belief in him almost hurt. Would Fabledpaw be saying the same things, if he could see her one more time?
Swallowing his thoughts, he softly shook his head, his body relaxing as his anger faded to grief once more. "How do you know?" his voice was distant, barely above a whisper, as if it was taking all of his effort to not shatter then and there. "How can anyone know? Perhaps I also belong in those caves. It was anger that drove him that point, wasn't it? It could easily happen to me then, too, couldn't it?" He was the spawn of a reaper, after all. From what he had heard, his father had taken many lives. Perhaps the sin had been passed down to the son as well.

When he flinched away from her touch, Vixensong nearly pulled away herself. Nearly. Instead, she stayed where she was, her paw over his as she waited for him to try and relax as much as he could. "Because you were my first friend here." She said softly. "There's kindness in you. I've seen it Legendarydemise... and it's not a fake kindness... not a show put on to trick people like him." Vixensong said as she motioned to the caves with a slight tilt of her head, never taking her eyes off the tom before her. She feared what it would do to him if she broke eye contact with him.
"You don't belong in those caves. You never will. I... well I believe that with all my heart..." Vixensong gently brushed her nose against his cheek, hoping that it would give him some sort of comfort. "It's okay to break down sometimes... It's okay to fall apart and feel the hole left by those that were taken from us... and if you need to do that, need a chance to mourn, you're allowed to do that."
This time, when Vixensong brushed against his cheek, it took very little effort to not flinch away again. She was warm and comforting, something that Legendarydemise seemed to lack in his life. It was a weird feeling, but one that he found he was slowly beginning to enjoy. Which was probably why he leaned into the touch, although he didn't realize he had done so. The more she spoke, the more of him was chipped away. All the anger and hatred, until only the broken shell remained. How could she believe in him so much? What had he ever done to show her any sort of good in him?
But, she had been his friend. Was his friend. Perhaps the only one that he could truly rely on, both now and ever. Vaguely, he realized this was the first time that either of them had spoken of their friendship aloud, but that didn't matter. They both knew it existed. And if she said it was okay to fall apart, then he had to believe her, didn't he? It was scary, he realized, just how much she seemed to mean to him, and suddenly a new fear gripped his heart. He had already dealt with the pain of losing his sister - still dealing with, actually - what if something were to happen to his one friend? Ever so slightly, he shook his head, trying to bury the thought. Focus. After a few more moments of silence, he whispered, "I'm terrified." And he was. He fought the urge to glance back at the cave, focusing on Vixensong's eyes. Gathering whatever bit of bravery and rationality he still had, he spoke again. "He can't stay in there forever. Eventually he'll be released, or escape."

(lavellan so sorry! I got caught up with IRL stuff >.<)
“And he’ll be punished for his crimes.” Vixensong said quickly. “He’ll be punished for what he did... that cat in those tunnels... he will be haunted forevermore for what he did...” The russet-pelted she-cat wondered if there was a way to block his gaze from the tunnels, to ease his mind somehow. Instead, she shuffled closer to him and sat back on her haunches. Vixensong hesitated for a moment, wondering if he would push her away. If he did, then that would be fine, but she very slowly wrapped her paws around him. The young warrior pulled him close as she hugged him, testing the borders for both herself and for him.
“But it’s okay to be terrified...” She whispered to him. “Just like it’s okay to fall apart... it’s okay to be terrified... but justice will be done... Starclan will see to it... we have to believe that... and I do believe that... I’ll believe it for the two of us as well...”
(it's fine, i also neglected this for a while oop!)
Once more, Legendarydemise's paws dug into the dirt, much more gently then previously. His shaking had resumed, a soft and barely noticeable motion, but it only lasted for a little bit before Vixensong's paws wrapped around him and before he could piece together what was happening, he found himself being pulled towards her. It took him a moment, his mind momentarily forgetting what he had been scared of, but his worries slowly creeped back, soothed by the soft words being whispered in his ear.
Carefully, he dug his head into her shoulder, not knowing what to say anymore. He didn't even know how he felt anymore, it was just all too much and too confusing now. So, closing his eyes, he just let Vixensong comfort him, and gave a small nod. "Okay." It was all he could manage. He just needed a little bit more time to pull himself together, and then perhaps a distraction. Like a walk, or even hunting. He was exhausted from his mental battles.

(no worries at all!)
Vixensong let out a soft sigh as Legendarydemise seemingly relaxed against her. He hadn’t pushed her away, which must have been a good sign. Still, she worried that there was only so much she could do for him. The young warrior glanced around for a moment while her ears flicked back towards the caves. Staying here wouldn’t help things. She wasn’t sure if he was ready to leave this place just yet, or if he would be too afraid to move from this spot. It seemed as though Legendarydemise was worried that Fabledashes would somehow escape when he wasn’t looking. Vixensong slowly released her embrace, silent falling back to her paws while she looked up at the tom before her.
“Why don’t...” She began, doing her best to choose her words carefully. “Let’s leave here for a bit. We can go anywhere... perhaps somewhere that’s quiet. Like... maybe the lake? It’s quiet enough there... or maybe the area near the shallow pool. You can rest there for a bit... and... well, maybe I can track something down? T-to eat of course. Well that is if you haven’t eaten yet. We can go wherever you’d like. Even back to camp if that’s what you wanted.”
Just as Legendarydemise had been beginning to think that he could get used to this new warmth, it was torn away from him. For a moment, he was just left in confusion, as reality slowly set back in. But then Vixensong spoke, as if reading his previous thoughts. It wasn't that much of a struggle anymore to keep his gaze off of the caves, but was this just a temporary peace? He wasn't sure, and didn't want to test just how long it would last. Instead, he tried his best to give Vixensong a grin as she stumbled through her words. It seems like crying had done him wonders, or maybe it was having someone to cry for him, but his shoulders were lighter than they were even just a few minutes ago. Yes, he should get away from here, before the dark clouds settled in his mind again.
"I... would like that," he said. This awkwardness was new to him, but he didn't seem to mind it. In fact, some part of him found it endearing. Was that even the right word to describe it? "The shallow pool sounds nice," he added, a few moments later, pulling himself out of his thoughts once more, afraid of where they might lead. "I don't think I've had anything to eat, either."

Vixensong flicked her ears before she turned her body, back towards the caves, as she looked back at him. "Come on then," She said softly, her tail brushing lightly against his pelt as if she was subconsciously telling him that she was still there even as she started walking away. Vixensong would pause every now and then, always looking back as if to make sure that Legendarydemise was still following her. The shallow pool was probably the only part of the territory that she was completely familiar with. She was able to travel back and forth without fear of getting lost in Fallclan's vast terrain. There was just something serene about it. Vixensong enjoyed laying by the bank and watching the ripples on the water's surface, and she hoped that Legendarydemise would feel a bit more relaxed there as well.
She padded along the bank, taking him to her favorite spot. It was a little cluster of sunning rocks shaded by a few branches of a weeping willow tree. The ground near the trunk was soft, perfect for just relaxing. "Here. You'll be comfortable here. I'll go try and catch a fish for you. You just rest... okay?"
The walk to the shallow pool was both the shortest and longest journey, with how often that Legendarydemise's mind wandered or he spaced out. He was sincerely grateful that Vixensong took it slow, and would wait for him to make sure he was still there. Somehow, that simple action would snap his mind back to the world, and it wasn't too long before he would attempt a smile whenever she looked back. He was still in shambles, but at least he could hold himself together now. The support that Vixensong offered him had a larger affect than he would have ever expected.
When they finally arrived, Legendarydemise followed her instructions without complaint, and immediately laid down. "You can fish?" he asked, a little impressed. "Honestly, that's probably the thing that I'm worst at."

Vixensong nodded, a bit sheepishly as she offered him a little smile. “I used to travel a lot when I was younger, before I joined Fallclan.” She admitted. “I was responsible for all the hunting since my mom was talking care of my brother. I had to learn fast if we didn’t want to starve.” It had been a while since she thought about her life before Fallclan. It was an odd sensation, and she quickly cleared her throat as she headed towards the shallow pool. It wasn’t really the time though, and she had something else to focus on instead of the past. She looked up at the sky, staring at the sun for a bit before she began to slowly make her way into the water, moving slowly until she was submerged up to her legs. With the sun behind her, a dark shadow stretched out before her along the water’s surface. The water skimmed the fur along her stomach as her tail moved with the current of the water, but the she-cat remained frozen as she gazed at the shadow she had cast.
It almost seemed as though she was frozen in place before she suddenly drove her head beneath the water. When she resurfaced, water fell rolled off her whiskers in thick droplets as a fish thrashed and struggled between her jaws. Vixensong tightened her grip on her prey as she quickly made her way back to the bank. The she-cat dropped the fish onto the surface before quickly incapacitated it with a swift strike from her paws. She gave herself a quick shake and took a few deep breaths before she picked the fish back up. Vixensong made her way back towards Legendarydemise and placed the fish down before him as she sat down. Her ears twitched for a minute before she was struck by a thought. “If you’d like... I could teach you how to fish? It’s not so hard once you get used to it”
In all of the moons that Legendarydemise had known her, he had never asked about her and her brother's past. All he had really known was that they had lost their parents, and although that was something that he could relate with, he didn't think it was his place to ask. So, he was surprised when Vixensong willingly shared a bit of that past, even though he hadn't meant to ask anything related to it. It was just a small glimpse, but it was more than enough. Instead of pushing for more information, he simply watched her movements and the glimmer of the sun on her wet pelt. When she submerged under water, his breath caught in his throat, and he hadn't realized that he had been holding it until she resurfaced.
It took him until the fish was placed in front of him to relax again, but her next question surprised him just as much as the glimpse into her past. "I, well," he hesitated, turning his gaze back to the water. Old memories returned to him, and he almost felt as if he was underwater again. His ear was beginning to feel numb, and he flicked it. He had been avoiding actually going in water again since he was a kit, and the thought still wasn't a comfortable one. But, he found it hard to say no. "I can try," he ended up responding. As much as he didn't want to make a fool of himself, he trusted Vixensong if anything happened to go wrong.

"I promise, it's a lot easier than it looks." She said, offering him a small smile.Vixensong smoothed out her pelt as it started to slowly dry, simply putting the fur back into place and straightening it out of the waves it had begun to create. "The trick is to face your body away from the sun so that you cast a shadow over the water. I don't know why, exactly, but the fish prefer the shade to the light. Maybe because they think it's a hiding spot."
Vixensong settled down next to Legendarydemise, folding her paws under her body as she curled her tail around her body. She twitched her whiskers as she glanced at him. He seemed nervous at the idea of fishing. "My first time fishing, I forgot to hold my breath and ended up breathing in a bit of water..." She admitted sheepishly. "It gave my dad a good laugh at the time.."
