Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
From sunrise to sunset Rottenpaw was put to work practicing hunting just so he could feed everyone but himself and his family. He wished he knew his life as a kit was going to be the best moments of his life because as an apprentice it basically sucked. From morning he was kicked out of camp, which meant being in the cold all day no matter the weather. Then he wasn't allowed to eat from the freshkill pile anymore. He had to actually dig up the scraps his clanmates buried in the ground, which basically meant eating flavored dirt. The only nice part was that he got to spend all of his time with his siblings, they got to hunt like a pack and were pretty good at it. Today though he was slacking off from his job, instead opting to build a snow cat.
Rottenpaw was rolling the snow up into a big snowball when his ears flattened. He didn't need to hear someone coming to know when someone was behind him. When cats tended to treat you like prey, giving you daily beatings you tended to just sense them the same way as badgers, a prickle of dread at the faintest detection of them. He whirled around to see Rosepaw standing there, his paws twitched away from his snowy creation. He knew from watching the apprentices in WinterClan that apprentices were all supposed to be equal to one another, but that wasn't true for demons.
"Oh, hi Rosepaw." He greeted, keeping his head down, ears lowered in submission to her. The greeting was about all he was allowed to say, he noticed any further conversation usually landed a painful cuff across the ear. He was trained like a beaten dog to know how to behave and when.

Rosepaw watched silently for a few moments while the demon apprentice made their little snow cat. Coming from another cat it might have been rather endearing, but everyone knew that these apprentices were supposed to be constantly hunting or practicing hunting during the day, and that neither Silverfury nor Wintrystar would approve of such silly behavior "Its a shame" she mewed moving forward to admire his work that was actually quite decent "Such a pretty little snow cat, but you know that I have to report your behavior back to Silverfury. I do hope that your creation was worth whatever punishment he comes up with" she sighed shaking her head, before looking up at him with a small smile
"You'd be surprised," He said under his breath, thinking back to his abomination creation he had made in the Forest Clans. Instead he quickly said, "Understood," before she could make a comment on what he had said.
He must have believed that this was worth it because he kept going at it, building more snow up. "I always thought nice people were pretty." He said casually as he sculpted out the snow cat, "So you might be secretly nice or maybe the fairy tales are wrong, I can't decide yet."
He turned around, trying his best to lick at the wounds on his back leg that was irritating him. Last night he had gotten a lashing from his mom for eating too much, even though the prey he had eaten were all buried leftovers from warriors who had already eaten. It was understandable though, he could tell the new goal now that he was six moons was to make sure him and his siblings stayed healthy, but not too strong. Just weak enough so they couldn't fight back.

Rosepaw could have stopped him from continuing, but where was the fun in that? He was going to face punishment either way, so at least by the time he was done they would have something to show for the whole ordeal "You still believe in fairy tales? How cute" she mused, a little giggle escaping her lips "Those are just stories they tell kits to make them behave" she rose to her paws circling around assessing the snow cat with a critical eye
"Look, I know I sound tough but your not giving much choice here. I have to protect my sister, so i can't do anything that might come back to hurt her later. If I don't report you I wouldn't want her to get in trouble for it. Shes to... soft... for that"
His ears felt hot hearing Rosepaw laugh at him drawing his dull amber gaze to look to back to the snowman as if distracted. Stories were one of the few kind things Dottymask gave to him and his siblings, probably because they held morals targeted for them. But they were also one of the few times they could all relax together, pretending they were a family.
"Must be nice, having the ability to look out for your siblings. My sisters tried to look out for one another, Soullesspaw was anything, but what her name suggested. She was brave, the kindest cat you could have known, she even looked out for our adopted siblings. She lashed out just one time at Dotty's kit and now she's in prison, Howlingnight said probably until she's a warrior. Another time back when Quiveringpaw was Nobodykit we played a prank, but he got punished for not submitting. So instead he was exiled for my stupid idea. So despite whatever sucky situation you have going on, I still find you to be pretty privileged." He said bitterly, but his lazy stared was soft when he turned back to her, "But you're also one of the closest things I have to a friend here so if you turn me in or have to hit me I'll take it without any vengeance. What even is your tragic backstory anyways? I mean, even I know you weren't born here, you just kind of showed up one day."

Rosepaw nodded, it was exactly as the young cat had said and she was under no delusions that she and Brindlepaw could have ended up in a worse situation. They could have ended up any where, the Knight of the Stars could have not received that omen about the being full blooded WinterClan. Their positions could have quite easily been reversed had even one thing gone differently "I'm not the kind of friend that you want" she replied honestly "I will always put myself and my sister first..." she paused as he asked about where that had come from "My life before WInterClan is rather blurry... I know we had another sister, and a brother to" her tail curled around paws "They woke us up from our nest and made us leave our den... Then brindlepaw fell and I went back to help her but we found ourselves surrounded by strange cats with paint. I assume it was SunClan... Brindlepaw convinced me that the only way out was to jump into the river, and we washed up here in WinterClan"
"Yeah, cause why would I want a friend who has self worth and cares about her family," Rottenpaw said nervously. She could easily smack him for being sarcastic with her, but that was what he wanted to test. If they were alone with no one around would she still act cruelly to him. "And also your mom must have not been a good one. Even my mom wouldn't let us out of her sight to go slip in the water, not even when she's asleep. Like my real mom, I don't know what she was thinking coming here. Maybe because it's the only demon friendly clan, but I just. I wish I wasn't born some day's," He admitted.
