Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Jetstar followed along the SpringClan border, narrowing her eyes as the ground began to dip and a river snaked off from the small pond they'd passed by, part of it looking almost frozen in the late leaf fall chill.
She paused when she saw the river that split the valley they'd entered in two. "Soo, the river is the divider between the two clans here?" She asked, glancing to Goldengriffon.
From what she'd gleaned, WinterClan wasn't as friendly as their SummerClan neighbors. So she'd wanted to have her deputy along with her. Plus she'd yet to interact closely with Juniperhollow or Gracefulpaw and this seemed like a golden opportunity.
The lean she cat shivered as a chill from the more mountainous lands of WinterClan was carried along the breeze. She was not built for the cold, and she was quite glad she hadn't wound up there. She would've had a lot harder time adapting, if she could at all.
Juniperhollow followed slowly behind Jetstar. He looked identical to his father - his spitting image - who happened to be the previous leader. He wasn't happy about what happened to his father and was disappointed that Thistlestar was forced to step down from leadership due to his injuries. He was even more frustrated that Jetstar was the new leader and she didn't even know where the boarders were. "Yes" he responded before Goldengriffon, a less than enthused expression on his face and a little bit of annoyance edging his tone. "I wouldn't get too close, though. Winterclan cats like to start fights. They will try to claim that you are too close to their boarder or if you catch prey anywhere near here, they may try to claim it as their's. Going as far as saying that the prey ran over the boarder."
Jetstar padded over to the river, she sniffed the bank. Noting SpringClan's scent on it's bank, she curled her lip. "What, so they get this whole river. That's ridiculous." She muttered. She hopped up onto the stepping stones and hopped along them until she neared WinterClan's side. And tilted her head when she detected WinterClan scent on this bank. "Wait, no, they've put their scent markers here. Then who owns the river?" She asked narrowing her eyes.
She turned her head to cast her gaze into the river. She could see a few fish swimming in the river, and she turned back to the patrol pointing towards the fish with her tail. "There's fish in this river. Who can claim them since both sides have their scent marks on their respective banks?"
(pao feel free to have Wintrystar or whoever you'd like show up whenever)
Goldengriffon flicked his tail, lost in his own thoughts. He hadn't heard Jetstar's question until the very last minute until Juniperhollow spoke up. The pale tabby flinched inwardly as a rush of embarrassment flushed hotly through his pelt. The deputy cleared his throat and offered Jetstar a small smile. "The river is nothing more than a natural divider. Come to think of it, I don't believe anyone lays claim to the river. I tend to avoid fishing in it though. Too close to Winterclan. Juniperhollow is right, they do enjoy a good fight."
Jetstar lifted her gaze back towards her deputy and nodded slowly. "So it's no man's land." She said. She stuck her paw in the water and watched as all the fish dispersed, eyes narrowing thoughtfully. "Can WinterClan cats even fish?" She asked half to herself but loud enough for the rest of her patrol to hear.
"I'm not sure. I would assume that judging by their terrain, most of their water is either frozen or too hot for fish to live in." The deputy said as he sat down at the edge of the river bank, tail curling neatly around his paws. "Winterclan, as I'm sure you know, is a frozen terrain. It snows constantly, and they need to be tough to survive. It is definitely not a clan for the weak, nor those of us with short pelts."
(so sorry! Honestly thought I replied to this and was waiting to be tagged again or for it to popup on my threads list) JetclawNovaSpotPhantom Wintrystar's patrol: Emberbrand - Cleaver, Darknessdivine - MorteAutumnal, Snowpaw - Flurryofstars
Wintrystar had lead the first patrol in days. Camp was destroyed and their new home was welcoming but lacking in food and bedding. A few hunting patrols had bene sent out already, but hers was the first border patrol in days. They would cover it all, no matter how exhausting that may be, for they were the only patrol out. She'd left her mate back at camp with their kits, knowing she could afford to gone a few hours with them in his care. When they returned, it would be after the hunting patrols and welcomed to the warmth of the hot springs and the fresh prey just caught. It would be nice and she looked forward to it. "Hurry up, we've got one last stop before we can head home."
Goldengriffon and been trying to stifle a yawn when he picked up the faint scent of Winterclan on the air. The deputy quickly straightened up as he cast his gaze towards Jetstar, Juniperhollow, and Gracefulpaw. "I believe the patrol is on the way." He said quickly. The pale tabby hoped that it didn't show just how nervous he was. Winterclan cats were... well they were something else. Nothing like Springclan, and most definitely not as soft. But he stood tall nonetheless, confident that Jetstar and her firey nature would be able to handle the meeting well.
Jetstar looked up from the water at Goldengriffon's comment, the leader having wanted to make another go at the fish. But she relented straightening up.
She lifted her mouth to scent the air and sure enough she picked up WinterClan scent. "Well, we should wait to greet them then," She meowed.
Emberbrand nodded briskly as he finished marking the border and fell in step after the leader once more. It was good to be out on patrol again, and since Wintrystar was leading it instead of him, he had the freedom to hang back and enjoy his surroundings instead of focusing on guiding them. It was tiresome and he wasn't thrilled about it, but he respected Wintrystar enough he wasn't going to obviously push her boundaries.
He looked up as he scented a mouse, and he saw it cresting the hill before them. "Don't wait for me," he murmured to the group as he broke away from them, quickly following in the prey's tracks. He closed the distance with ease, a moving shadow above the frosted snow, but his focus was suddenly broken when he looked over the top of the hill. The mouse fled before him, but he had bigger problems. Were those cats waiting on the border ahead of them?
The orange-and-black warrior shot back down the hill to join the patrol. "Cats up ahead," he warned Wintrystar.
"Hm, looks like we've been spotted." Juniperhollow responded bluntly as his gaze traveled up to the cat peeking over the crest of the hill before it quickly vanished. "Let's hope he's smart and doesn't assume this is an invasion."
Wintrystar was frustrated. There patrol was nearly over and now they run into trouble? Couldn't it have waited for a different moon? When they didn't already have enough on their plates as it is? Nonetheless, she stepped forward, head held high, and stood beside Emberbrand, gazing down at the cats at their border. "Do we know who they are? Or what in the Gods' name they want?" Her frustrations were clear to anyone who listened, clear as the frown on her face and the narrowing of her eyes.
Windyhurricane looked between Jetstar, then Wintrystar. When did he get here? Was he always here? Why he really needed to bring up his memory issues to his mate, how long was he just standing there in his own head?
Windyhurricane bumped Snowpaw, "Psst, don't be a snitch, but I forget what we were doing. Can you tell me the answer so I can look smart?" He then looked up to the cats up ahead. "Oh, are we meeting new recruits, heck yeah, I call dibs on the shortest one. I've always wanted a short friend. Always thought it would make me feel taller."
(hahaha Windyhurricane never a dull moment with you XP)
Jetstar looked up and spotted the WinterClan patrol in the distance looking down on them, the tan and black she cat lifted her head. "Seems we'll be encountering WinterClan today after all." The leader meowed.
"Hello there! No need to be strangers, after all we are neighbors!" Jetstar called up to them, waving her tail in means of greeting.
Jetstar hadn't formed an opinion on the mountain clans yet, but interacting with SummerClan had gone well, perhaps she'd have good fortune interacting with Littlestar's birth clan?
"HIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII!!" Windyhurricane shouted from the distance, "I'm Windyhurricane! Your names super cool!" He yelled over to the SpringClan patrol even though they weren't that far away.
(Windy, Cinnamon, and Creampuff are literally my favorite characters xD it's never a dull moment with them! If the Classic family all met up one day, I feel like Faith would totally have the personality of one of those characters...or all of them lol!)
Juniperhollow instantly felt embarrassed for Jetstar. Winterclan did not take kindly to the other clans and Jetstar was making herself look far too friendly. Wintrystar was the type of cat that one would have to walk on egg shells around. He was surprised to hear Windyhurricane return the friendly greeting. Perhaps Wintrystar would be in a pleasant mood today.
Jetstar hopped off the stepping stones back onto SpringClan's side of the river, keeping her tail raised in greeting. "Good to meet you Windyhurricane!" She called back, "Are your clanmates interested in saying hello or will my introduction to Littlestar's birth clan be solely through you?" She called.
She figured perhaps name dropping the cat who's family line ran strong through WinterClan might encourage the cold cats to interact. She'd like to get an idea what she was dealing with.
Goldengriffon let out a small sigh as he glanced over at Juniperhollow with a shrug. He stood up and made his way towards the stepping stone so that he could stand by his leader’s side. He flicked his ears at the mention of Littlestar and glanced warily back at the Winterclan cats.

Snowpaw was relieved he didn't have to answer Windyhurricane's question. Before he could even try to, the warrior's mouth was running again, far too loud and friendly sounding for a cat on a border patrol. The student slowly inched away from him until he was at the other end of their little group, standing tall and waiting to follow Wintrystar's lead.
