The battle was finally over, the bodies of the undead having collapsed, but no one could sleep easily. The bodies had been piled up, with all the cats of SunClan watching and waiting for them to rise again. With so many injured, Honeysplash had been placed as one of the guards to keep an eye on the bodies while the others rested. He had several deep wounds, but compared to most of the clan he was in decent shape. He had checked in on his daughter who was sleeping now, telling Silverfrginge to fetch him once she had woken so he wouldn't get yelled at again...
Honestly this was a lot to take in, but there was one thought on the forefront of his mind as he cleaned his pelt from the mix of his blood and those of the living and dead.... He was a grandfather... he knew it was bound to happen sooner or later with as many kits as he had, but not so soon. Now how was he supposed to get girls to fall head over heels over him when he had kits calling him their grandfather? It was quite the conundrum.
Pollendrone had been sleeping more than she was awake, no one could really blame her though after her intense labor of eight kits and the emotional stress she had endured just before it happened, she proffered being asleep though, she hurt less when she was unconscious. The queen was in her nest now, curled around her children and her four half-siblings whom she had taken on after her fathers most recent kittypet fling had been killed, twelve kits for a first time mother was a bit much, especially for such a small she-cat but she had been unable to let the motherless kits be taken by anyone else. She stirred in her sleep causing the littles to wake and begin moving around, the movement at her belly pulling her back to the waking world, the sadness she had been trying to escape ever present as she opened her eyes, letting them settle on the hoard of kits. She watched them for a moment before realizing that she was alone with only the company of the other queens,. "Dad?" The whispered call for her father lacked much life or emotion, but since her mothers death she had been wary in letting Honeysplash leave her side for very long.

Not long after Pollendrone had awakened, he heard Silverfringe call his name. He passed his watch duty onto another warrior and grabbed a mouse before coming into the nursery. He had managed to clean off a lot of the blood that clung to his coat, though it had stained his pelt a light pink where it was once creamy white, but it also made his own wounds stand out more against his pelt. He hovered in the entrance, swallowing before entering inside and going to his daughter's side "Here you should try to eat something" he mewed softly laying it between her front paws anxiously looking at all the kits. It only seemed that much more real seeing them all the squirming all over their mother's sides
She looked up briefly to see Honeysplash enter the nursery, the tightness in her chest loosening ever so slightly but not going away completely. Her eyes followed the mouse he placed beside her, she pushed to away. "I'm not hungry." She mewed quietly, her stomach churning at the thought of eating. "Have you seen Mountainsound for your wounds yet?" She was looking at him again, her eyes scanning dully over the marks on his pelt, they didnt seem to be anything too serious but what if they became infected and he died.

"Shes been busy with other patients" he murrmmered pressing his nose gently to her check "She is going to come see me after she has had some time to rest, so don't worry to much. She was injured during the fire to, so its important that she takes care of her own health to" no matter how hard he tried his gaze kept getting drawn downward to the hoard of kits that looking like a mess of wiggling creatures
Snapping his eyes upwards, he reminded himself that he needed to focus on his daughter and not the overwhelming fear that gripped his heart knowing that she was going to need help with them especially since four of them were his and her mother had passed away "Swelteringeclipse would be proud of you, she always wanted to have grandkits. I bet she watching over all of us with a big grin on her face" he knew that the loss of her mother was a sore spot, but he hoped that he could help ease it some "besides, you know she is going think it is hilarious when you leave me alone to baby sit all twelve of them" he joked
Pollendrone gave a little nod, things had been so chaotic when Mountainsound had arrived to help that she hadn't noticed the healer was injured. "Sonlong as you are okay then I guess it is fine.." she need quietly, watching her fathers eyes move between her and the kits, it was easy to read him, she knew he wasnt a huge fan of being around kits. As her thoughts began to drift she was snapped back to the present, his sudden mention of Swelteringeclipse stabbing at her heart. Her ears flattened against her head and she felt herself withdraw a little. "Please dont talk about her." Pollendrone still blamed herself for her mothers death, for leaving her all alone, for not trying to find help so she could escape with them. Now there wasnt even a body for them to mourn, eaten by the flames that had ravaged through Sunclans camp, she would never get the chance to see her again, to say a proper goodbye. The queens eyes glazed over, the feeling of the kits at her belly suddenly overwhelming, she shifted her body away from them ignoring their cries as her warmth left them.
