Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Spot Windchaser and Coyotekit's thread Everything hurt, but that was just his life. Coyotekit's legs were mangled not long after his birth, so the young kit had never walked. His legs only hurt him. Still, being a kit he couldn't sit around all day. He had to move. He to do something. So, the tom took to pulling himself forward on his side. He would curl up tight, and then extend. He would move a tiny bit at a time, and it exhausted him as well as made his legs burn. While he didn't use them, they got tossed around quite a bit.
The kitten had successfully slithered his way out of the medicine den. He couldn't control his breathing, but he made it. The first time out of that place without someone carrying him. His blue eyes took in the sights of the waterfalls and endless caves, and he wondered where his family might be. The one place he didn't look was behind himself, where he left a trail of poultices and blood.
"Hmmm...a restless spirit. Reminds me of someone." Came a voice behind the tom before he was suddenly lifted into the air and carried back into the medicine den. She set him back down, gently in his nest. It was his grandmother, Windchaser, a legend in Dayclan. This was the first time they had met since the accident after he was born. He wouldn't remember her but his mother did look exactly like her. "No more wandering off, little one. It is a dangerous world out there. The other kits might try to play with you and your wounds haven't fully healed, yet. And it appears you have already reopened some of them from your trip outside."
He squeaked as Windchaser lifted him into the air. Who was this? Her voice was not Lilacbane's, but had some of her tones. "Put me down! I wanna stay!" He was ignored as the darkness of the medicine den and its pungent air enveloped him once again. He spent his whole life so far in this den. Coyotekit just wanted to get out and live for once. It wasn't too much to ask. "I just wanna not be in here." He whispered as Windchaser lowered him back down into his nest. "I wanna play with them, even just for a little bit." He looked up, and visible confusion spread across his features as he saw the familiar face. "Who... who are you?
She let out a gentle purr. "I'm your grandmother. I'm your mother's mother." She explained gently, finding amusement in the young kit's eagerness to be out. She saw her same spirit in him but it broke her heart that he was crippled. He couldn't sneak out of the camp like she did when she was a kit. He couldn't cause mischief like normal kits. She pitied him and wished that there was some way she could help him.
His eyes widened at the thought. His mother had a mother in this Clan? That was awesome! "Oooooh, okay." He fell silent, and again just looked around his prison. Nothing changed here, other than that old guy Brakewings every now then. Not that the guy was any fun. It was just the only thing to entertain him. Then something clicked in his head. He looked back up to his grandmother and give her his best kitten eyes. "Can you please take me somewhere? I don't wanna be stuck in here anymore." He bumped her with his head. "I promise that I won't run off!"
She opened her mouth to refuse but the words caught in her throat. What kind of life was this for a kit? She let out a defeated sigh. "Alright. I'll take you just outside of camp, okay? But you must promise not to run off." She responded, hoping that would make him feel like he could run off like a normal kit.
He rolled his eyes. "I already promised that!" For the terrible situation he was in, the young tom had done his best to make the best of it. His repertoire of leg jokes and puns grew everyday, much to the discomfort of everyone who talked to him. "I mean, I would, but you have a leg, or four, up on me."
"Miracles happen, kid. You never know what you could be capable of." She lifted the tom into the air and set him on her back and began padding out of camp. The arrived out of camp, the land stretched on for miles, further than the eye could see. "Pretty big world, isnt it?"
Miracles? He needed for of them. But he had a fire inside, and he had begun to try standing up while leaning on the cave's walls. He didn't do this in front of anyone yet, mainly because he was yet to succeed. Riding on his grandmother's back added fuel to that fire. He wanted to do this without anyone's help, and explore all those vast lands. "Yeah... have you seen all of it?"
"I've seen all of Dayclan territory and some of the other clan's territories but never anything passed that. What I would give to travel that far though." She replied as she continued on with Coyotekit on her back. "Would you like to see the White Tree?" It was the safest place and the most sacred piece of Dayclan territory.
The kitten's eyes wandered across the horizon as his grandmother spoke, almost too entranced by all the sight to listen to her. They narrowed at her suggestion of seeing a white tree. Maybe he could see it from here...
"Yeah, sounds like fun! Which clans are over there? " He had heard of their neighbors, but not yet where each of them were. "Are we gonna invade another Clan's territory?!"
