God, this place sucked. Everything that could have been cool just fell apart. Her friendships, the clique, it all became a load of nothing. And she still had this annoying paw at the end of her name. Pineapplepaw had had enough.
It wasn't like there was any family to stop her. They stopped talking to her a long time ago. Must have annoyed them too much, she figured. Not a soul even said goodbye as she slipped out for the last time.
She was so bored.
It's what made the wandering more exciting, though Pineapplepaw felt her throat close on itself. She was used to talking to someone, anyone. Not seeing cats in the fields made her feel truly alone. It was a bit terrifying. Until she caught the sight of a familiar silhouette on the horizon. At first, she couldn't believe it. How could you? She was never that lucky. But her paws moved faster and faster until she was charging at them at a full sprint.
Swiftriver loved her clan, truly, she did; it was nice to be with her family again, and they could all sense there was something different about her. She had always been independent, but FallClan had made her confident; she didn't keep to herself because she had a chip on her shoulder, but because she knew she was capable of looking after herself. The exchange program had done wonders for her... and the long journey to find her clan again after they chose to abruptly leave without letting her know.
But she missed her friends. Speedhawk was always there for her, now she had Rushingriver as well, even the other former apprentices like Luckywillow, who was surprisingly less whiny now. Shatteredshine had been her mentor for moons and now they were equals, but she respected the she-cat like no other. It wasn't the same as having her old friends, though. Sometimes, late at night, she found herself wondering when Princepaw's next meeting was, just so she could relive the old days.
As she hunted along the tall ridge, she found the wind up this high was inconveniently strong and made it difficult to track any scents. There were no trees for cover, and she doubted there was prey either, so she started to pick her way back down toward the scattered woods surrounding them. A pounding of paws caught her attention and Swiftriver looked up to see a familiar golden pelt charging her way.
"Pineapplepaw?" Her eyes widened in shock, but a smile was soon to follow. She raced toward her. "What are you doing here?"

She had been Pineapplepaw for what felt like a year. She was so sick of it. Pineapplepaw scowled at the mention but it dropped as Swiftriver approached her. "Ugh, that's why." Pineapplepaw put her paw to her face, trying and failing to squeeze the bridge of her nose in an overly dramatic way. "That bum Hysteric put off my promotion for another moon. I'm sick of it." Pineapplepaw jumped up and down with a pout, like an overgrown kit throwing a tantrum. But it was short and she smiled when she stopped, "Besides, once everyone left, it got boring again. I missed ya. Nothing really ties me there anyway, so I figured I'd just... leave."
She frowned and leaned back fractionally, feeling her paws skid on the ground as she hurried to a stop in front of the she-cat. That's why? Swiftriver was just happy to see her, but perhaps her excitement had been a bit overwhelming. She nodded once, trying to be supportive until she understood the truth of what her friend was saying.
And then she was smiling again, relief washing over her as she realized Pineapplepaw was tired of her name. "We can fix that," she assured her, "you can even choose your own name if you'd like, and just tell Chim you've had it for moons now. He won't notice." Swiftriver paused; then, abashed, she admitted, "I missed you too, you know. Though I finally got some sleep without sneaking out to watch Princepaw's plays."

When the relief filled Swiftriver's eyes, Pineapplepaw tilted her head. What was she thinking otherwise? It wasn't like Pineapplepaw was tired of her or anything. Far from it. Swiftriver was the whole reason she came to Swiftclan in the first place.
"Finally, a leader I can ignore and he won't mind as much." Pineapplepaw said with a grin. Not like Hystericstar cared, but that was never one of his specialties. It was like Fallclan again, but now she had Swiftriver to herself. Which was, admittedly, weird. Pineapplepaw was used to having others around, friends or acquaintances she could talk to. Or make do things for her. The golden she-cat laughed a little at the mention of Princepaw. "Aww man, then you've been missing out on all the good ones." She joked, lightly rubbing her paw on Swiftriver's shoulder, "I'll have to catch you up on everything that has happened."
Hystericstar's ignorance had been easy for Swiftriver to grow accustomed to, though compared to Chimerastar he was nearly overbearing. Hystericstar had assigned multiple warriors to watch over their little camp, after all, while Chim had tried to up and move his entire clan while she was gone, hoping none of the apprentices would find their way back. She doubted the ginger leader would even notice Pineapplepaw had joined the clan unless they explicitly pointed it out to him.
"I've been meaning to go see one, but by the time news reaches SwiftClan the play has already passed," she admitted. Swiftriver was less interested in the plays themselves than who she might meet there, but she was not about to admit just how much she had longed to see her friend again. "Spare no detail. Does she have her warrior name yet?"

"Yeah. Sorry to hear that. It's kinda hard to keep track of where you all are." Pineapplepaw wasn't gonna admit she had no idea where Swiftclan was and got lucky she even found them. "It doesn't help they've slowed down. Apparently, she is planning a whole production in Dayclan. Not a lot of details have been leaked yet, but it sounds like it might take a more goofier tone than she normally does. Oh, and she got Princecharming as her name now. How perfect of a name is that for her?"
"The play!" Swiftriver gasped, a sudden look of horror crossing her features. "I- I completely forgot! I must have missed a pawful of rehearsals by now," she groaned. She had attended the first few studiously, but after the clan moved this last time, her new acting role entirely slipped her mind. Duskslayer and Princecharming were going to kill her... not that she had signed up for an important role, but still.

"YOU'RE IN THE PLAY???" Pineapplepaw gasped, the first she heard of it. "Nice. I tried out for something or other but then I went up and completely forgot my lines so I guess that's why they didn't pick me. Who're you playing? And you have to tell me how Princecharming is as a director."
"I didn't know you tried out. We could have chosen roles that talk to each other. Then maybe I'd be less nervous," she frowned. "I'm playing Earthpaw, Lionsomething --- uh --- Lionpride's daughter. She doesn't do very much. Princecharming is okay, I don't even think she even knows I'm there. Like I said, I don't do very much."
