"Fawnkit" she scooped her paw out, drawing close to her side "You need to eat" Jetfire was beginning to panic trying to manage all three of them at once as she tried to get her daughter to latch and get some milk, while holding Secretkit and licking Fawnkit. Trying to juggle the needs of all three of them, at least Grumpykit seemed to still be content for the time being. She had been dealing with their medical issues for a while now, but it was rare to have them all having issues at the same time. She also usually had an extra set of paws close by to help with them.
Shaking and flailing? Could Ghostcrown be any more vague? That could literally be anything: from a serious condition to the kit simply panicking. His brother's comment about the kits' ability to answer only made Firetooth more sure that his sibling seriously needed a crash course on basic kit-care, Chimerastar probably knew more about how kits worked. Even still, the Medicine Cat ran through possible scenarios in his head, grabbing various herbs and tossing them into a small pile at an impressive speed with each new possibility that popped into his head. The tom stared down at the batch for a brief moment, before quickly gathering them all in his jaws and bounding past Ghostcrown towards the Nursery.
He was glad he took the extra precautions, because when he poked his head into the den, Firetooth was met by the sight of Jetfire and Discordantmelody, as well as three screaming and crying kits, rather than just one. He glanced between Secretkit, Fawnkit, and Sparrowkit, each of them looking to be in equal amounts of distress. His eyes quickly met the Queen's as he set down his herbs in front of her nest. "Which one needs the most immediate attention?" He asked her, his voice calm and even. "Do you know what specific medical issues they are dealing with?"

Jetfire was frazzled by the time firetooth arrived, her attention only being able to be divided so many ways. Firetooth spoke with such calm confidence, that it helped ease her mind some “Sparrowkit, she needs to eat now before she passes out, or it will be difficult to get any food in her”she motioned at the weak brown she-kit that she was trying to get to suckle, trying to be concise as possible “Secretkit is having a seizure, I have already moved him to where he won’t choke, we just have to wait it out” she paused nosing Fawnkit gently “Fawnkit has a heart condition, she just needs to get her heart rate down, he brother scratched her nose and she is panicking” it wasn’t a complete list of their ailments but it was what he would need to know for time being to help her get them stabilized. Even then it was already a lot of information for him to take in at once. She had been learning how to care for their ailments but it was difficult for even most medicine cats to deal with such a wide range of ailments all at once
Firetooth looked between the three kits again as their mother described the issues. One with a heart condition, one with seizures, and one that passes out if not fed at regular intervals. For a moment he glanced over at Grumpykit, who seemed to be the only kit not making a fuss, though he too looked sickly, if not a bit uncomfortable. Perhaps that one had a more chronic issue? But that was a question for later. Instead. he took out a veiny, light-green leaf and passed it to Jetfire. "It's Belladonna," he explains. "It should help calm Secretkit's spams. Since she's so young, one leaf should be enough, though as she gets older we'll need to workshop more complex herb combinations to keep the seizures under control." He then grabbed a snow-white flower with a yellow center, and pulled off a few of the petals before setting it in front of the two she-cats. "Give Fawnkit some chamomile and she should be just fine. I'll take care of Sparrowkit."
Firetooth considered the tiny grey kit for a moment, before dashing out of the Nursery, only to return a few moments later carrying a rabbit bone. The kits appeared to be somewhere between their mother's milk and solid food, so he hoped this might be more appealing to little Sparrowkit. He snapped the bone in two with his jaws, then crouched down on the ground in front of the stumbling kit. "Hey there, Sparrowkit," he mewed, his voice surprisingly soft and gentle. "Don't worry, I'm a friend of Mommy's. She said you weren't feeling well?" The Medicine Cat carefully lifted her chin up with the backside of his paw, and pushed the broken prey bone towards her with his nose. "I've got some yummy bone marrow for you. It's a tasty treat, and should help with your tummy, okay?"
The last kit was strangely calm - for once, he wasn't grumbling and spitting at the other kits. Grumpykit had shuffled off to Jetfire's side, one paw pressed over his face to block out his siblings' distressed cries.
Ghostcrown hurried after the medicine cat, but once he was back inside the den he didn't know what to do. He hung back, watching Firetooth get to work helping each of the kittens. How had things gotten so much worse in the few minutes he had been gone with his brother? All of the crying within the den made his head spin, and he was overwhelmed by the flurry of motion as the adults went to work looking after the young ones.
Jetfire had been doing this alone since they were born, he realized. Maybe Mountainsound had been allowed to help, but Bloodystar hadn't been fond of the elder when Ghostcrown was exiled, and he doubted his opinion had improved. The leader himself would have been absent as well, ruling his clan. Just one kit seizing had been enough to spook Ghostcrown, but Jetfire knew what she was doing, so this was far from the first time it had happened.
He swallowed hard and looked up at Firetooth. "Anything I can do?"

Jetfire watched carefully, as the herbs were laid before her. Naturally she was distrustful of the herbs being given to her, but it was much the same as ther herbs they had been given back in SunClan. Slowly she molded before grabbing the chamomile petals first and setting them In front of Fawnkit “We are going to have a race!” She purred warmly “let’s see who can eat their medicine the fastest you or Secretkit” before grabbing the green leaf that she had been given for him. It wasn’t one she was familiar with, but neither was it one that she had been warned to stay away from. She used one paw to rip it into smaller pieces and tilt his head upwards but Secretkit’a flailing was making it difficult to hold him and her the medicine down his throat. Hearing Ghostcrown’s question she answered “help hold his paws” seeing the hesitation “better hurry Fawnkit, or Secretkit is going to win”
As she worked on the two kits she listened to Firetooth speak with Sparrowkit. He was being gentle, and it helped ease some of her burden. She would have never thought to have tried the bone marrow, but it was a good idea when she couldn’t produce enough milk to give her what she needed. “Sparrowkit he’s right, I’m jealous that I’m not getting any it’s super tasty” she tried to sound enthusiastic, but she was so tired. Both physically and mentally exhausted
Sparrowkit tried her hardest to nurse, but she just couldn't. She didn't want to worry her mommy about it, especially when she had to worry about Secretkti and Fawnkit. Sparrowkit didn't want to give her mother anymore grief. So she had tried to nurse, kneading her mother's belly and trying to get as much milk as she could. The little kit had curled up close to her mother's belly as her body kept shaking. When Firetooth had called her name and crouched down close to her the taupe colored kit had tried to hid herself, leaning in closely against Jetfire. Her blue and green eyes were wide as she looked between the medicine cat and Ghostcrown. She didn't know either of these cats. They didn't smell like her mommy or her daddy. But her mother had said she knew them, which means Sparrowkit could trust them right? She nodded along to Firetooth's words. She glanced at the fractured bone, scrunching her nose up at it just a bit. Jetfire and Firetooth had both said it was a tasty treat, but she wasn't too sure it looked as tasty as they said. But it would make her mommy worry less if she ate it. "Th... Thank you..." Sparrowkit squeaked softly, tentatively leaning down and eating the bone marrow that was laid out before her
Firetooth let out a relieved sigh when Sparrowkit finally began eating the bone marrow, wrapping his tail around his ginger paws contentedly. He let out a small smile as he listened to Jetfire encourage her kits to eat their herbs through a playful competition - leave it to Queens to know how to get small, fluffy patients to behave better than he ever could. Despite everything that had happened to her, Jetfire seemed to be keeping it together decently enough, at least, in front of her kits. The tom couldn't help but feel admiration for someone putting on such a brave face in front of kits. For a brief moment, he thought back to the brave face of his own mother, and the encouraging words she purred into his ear when he was chosen to be a Medicine Cat. It was only seasons later that he learned just how panicked she had actually been at the time. "What do you think, Sparrowkit?" He asked gently, bringing his attention back to his patient. "Pretty good, right? Does your tummy feel a bit better?"
"But my nose hurts and so does my tummy and I don't know this place and WHO ARE THESE CATS?!?!" Fawnkit's shrill voice was everything a young child's should be, loud, piercing and impossible to ignore. Despite her health conditions, this little one had quite a pair of lungs on her, which she had pretty much weaponized since a very young age. Once she got like this daddy would come and give her whatever she wanted. But... he didn't. This wasn't SunClan. Her heart began to beat more rapidly and her paws felt numb as she edged toward a panic attack.
When the chamomile was placed in front of her, Fawnkit opened her mouth to throw another tantrum but didn't have any strength to do it. She couldn't catch her breath. Instead of falling for her mother's taunt and eating the flower, she quietly slumped forward and passed out. Her breathing began regular pretty quickly after that.
"This is why I don't like kits." Discordantmelody murmured, rolling onto her back and stretching out her front paws. She had finished her mouse and the one she had brought for Jetfire and was thus ready for a nap. She yawned and drew her paws over her face in a cross pattern.
Ghostcrown nodded and hurried closer to help restrain the tiny kit. He was hesitant, afraid to hurt his little paws, but he found he could hold down the thrashing kit without using much of his strength.
He flashed an irritated look up at Discordantmelody. "They can't help it."

As soon as Secretkit was restrained, Jetfire's paw darted forward quickly placing the ripped up shreds into the kits mouth before closing it between her paws and gently blowing on the kits face. It trigged an automatic reflex in the kit, making him swallow even though he was seizing before she let go of his face. He seizures seemed to be fading though he was still flailing slightly, the movements becoming slower as his body seemed to be relaing. She gently move him back into position "Just keep him as still as you can" she murmered, exhaustion seeping into her voice but unable to give up until she knew her kits were ok. She turned to Fawnkit who had passed out beside of her, listening to her heart and breathing for a moment before repeating the process and getting the chamomile into the small she-cat's system
"Oh right, how could I forget?" Discordantmleody replied mockingly. She rolled back onto her stomach and pushed herself into a sitting position, her black tail wrapped around her paws, then said, "That's what happens when you don't do your research."
Fawnkit's body put up no fight as her mother force-fed her medicine. Before long she was resting very peacefully up against her side.
Freckledpaw was standing half inside and half outside of they nursery, she was Firetooths new apprentice and had followed him when Ghostcrown came rushing into their den seeking help. Her swirling amber eyes were moving between each cat that took up a space in the den, after standing still for a moment the apprentice moved to Firetooths side and looked down at the sickly kits he had already begun giving medicine to. "How can I help? Is there something wrong with that one?" Her gaze had landed on the only kit that seemed fine, Grumpykit.
It took some effort for Firetooth to resist the urge to roll his eyes at Fawnkit's screeching, maintaining a completely nonplussed reaction as the tiny kit hyperventilated until she passed out. Another little drama queen. Once both Secretkit and Fawnkit had calmed down and were peacefully curled up against their mother, the Medicine Cat finally allowed himself to relax, patiently waiting until Sparrowkit had finished eating the bone marrow before gently lifting her by her scruff and setting her with Jetfire beside her resting siblings. "Looks like they've all settled down now," he meowed to the Queen, giving the three another look over for good measure. "Their health conditions aren't exactly ideal, but I was honestly expecting a lot worse. With consistent herbs to help manage the symptoms and regularly-scheduled feeding times, I don't see why any of them can't eventually grow up to become strong and capable warriors. Remind me to send Lovearrow and Rustyheart to visit you later, Jetfire; they've both lived with heart conditions similar to Fawnkit's for their entire lives, and should be able to provide you with a good idea of what her future might look like...so long as we can stop her from panicking every five minutes."
He hadn't realized that his apprentice had arrived until Freckledpaw had spoken up behind him; she was seriously too good at keeping quiet. "We're fine for now," he answered his apprentice. "But I want you to keep regular watch on the kits for the next moon or so. If any of their synptoms flare up again, use the same treatments I've just given them." On her question about Grumpykit, he brought his attention back to the final siblings, noting that Freckledpaw had made a good point. Bending over, he sniffed Grumpykit, careful as to not disturb the small tom's slumber. "He didn't seem to panic with his siblings, so I don't think he has any internal issues, or at least, anything immediately serious." Squinting, he gently moved Grumptykit's paw off of his face. Despite seeming to be in a deep enough sleep, his eyelids appeared to be fluttering strangely. "Is there some sort of issue with his eyes?" He asked Jetfire curiously.

By the time all the kits were settled and resting, it was clear their mother was exhausted to. Jetfire curled up around the kit protectively, moving them into position so that if their issues started up it would alert her immediately. She always put them in the same positions while the slept to make sure that it would wake her if she fell asleep. She laid her head on her own paws, guilt slowly eating away at her. Even though Firetooth seemed optimistic, it was hard for her to share that outlook after being told time and time again that her kits would never be warriors, and would be lucky to even make it to be adulthood. That their issues were all because of her actions. Now that they were resting, her gaze seemed to dull, not trying to pretend to be strong any longer for their sake. She merely nodded, just trying to keep the guilt and swirl of negative emotions away
"He has always squinted slightly... At first we thought it was just him being slow to open his eyes, but it hasn't gotten any better"
Freckledpaw watched carefully as he examined Grumpykit, listening to Jetfire speak of his odd squinting. She squeezed in beside Firetooth and leaned in close to the kit to watch his eyes for a moment before looking back at the queen. "What is his behaviour like?" She questioned again, ignoring the fact that Jetfire looked exhausted. The apprentices first thought was that it was perhaps a tick the young kit had, but with the severity of his siblings problems she felt it was probably something deeper than that. "It hasn't gotten better, but has it gotten worse?" She was still knew so she wouldnt be able to diagnose the issue, all she could do was get as much information as possible so her mentor could figure it out.
Firetooth stood up straight, turning to rest the tip of his tail on Freckledpaw's shoulder. "Grumpykit isn't an immediate concern at the moment. What Jetfire and her kits clearly need right now is some rest," he chastised sternly, though after a moment his muzzle curled up in a light flicker of a smile. "But your line of thinking is on the right track. You've got good instincts, and we can give Grumpykit, as well as the rest of the kits, a proper check-up tomorrow to get to the bottom of it." He paused, looking back at Jetfire. "One last thing, though. Would you mind lying on your side, so I can examine how your scar is healing? It'll take just a few seconds, then I and all of these other loudmouths will get out of your whiskers."
The den was getting too crowded for Discordantmelody's liking; she'd never get to be alone with Jetfire at this rate. She'd have to try again later. Picking up the remains of the two mice, she quietly exited the den.

The queen's eyes drifted between opened and closed, struggling to keep herself awake as the medicine cat and his apprentice talked and examined Grumpykit until he requested she move to her side. She felt her gaze going to Ghostcrown for some sort of support, as she rolled onto her side. She couldn't help but feel exposed, even though the cobwebs Bloodystar had wrapped around her hid the extensive wound from sight. She felt heat pool in her cheeks, but he was going to see it sooner or later. The wrappings were old by this point, the under layers stain with crimson from where her wound began to weep from the rough treatment during the move. When fire tooth removed the cobwebs he would see the long jagged scar that extended the vertical length of her stomach. It wasn't a clean cut, zigzagging from one place to another, deeper and wider in some places than others. It was barely being held together by Mountainsound's stitches, blood and clear flui leaking from between the stitches though the skin had started to knit back together in places. There was still the lingering scent of infection, though it had almost been dealt with. The infection had nearly killed her a second time, the fever that ran through her body causing her to fall even further mentally until the herbs were able to get it in control "Do what you need to" she replied softly, keeping her eyes down even though she flinched as Firetooth's paws touched her to remove the bindings
Firetooth was as careful and delicate as possible as he slowly cut away the cobweb bindings with a single claw, his nose wrinkling slightly at the old and dirty state of the wrappings. The bandages should've been changed days ago. He pushed the dry blood-covered webs to the side with his back foot, closely examining the wound. He was disguised, but not phased by its severity; for a cat who claimed to be a healer for his clan, Bloodystar's attempt at a C-section was sloppy at best, and looked as if he was almost panicking during the surgery. "Freckledpaw," he barked. "Fetch me a couple mouthfuls of clean cobweb, chew up some burdock leaves and gumweed, and then bring some borage and poppy seeds for Jetfire to eat. Ghostcrown, go outside camp and bury the dirty cobwebs by the dirtplace."
Softly, he placed a single paw on Jetfire's abdomen. "I'm just checking how well the stitches are holding," he explained calmly. "Let me know if it hurts too much, alright?" As he felt around her stomach area, he suddenly paused with a small, but sharp intake of breath. "It...looks to be healing, slowly but surely," the Medicine Cat quickly meowed. "We'll re-wrap the wound with some added herbs to speed up the process. You'll be fine."
