Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Chim yawned as he rolled over in his makeshift nest. He had been too tired after traveling last night, and he hadn't bothered to make himself a real bed to lie in; after laying on the uncomfortable dirt for the last few hours, his back ached a bit, but he would work out that tension today. They'd stay here for the next day or two and hunt before moving on.
The leader stretched out his back then headed through the rings of randomly placed sleeping cats. Maybe he would go for an early hunt, or-
Chim stopped, his pelt prickling in surprise as a familiar face floated before him like a ghost.
Golden eyes blinked the sleep away as their blue furred owner stretched her still small body. She was slender as ever as she lifted herself off the dirt and shook her pelt. "G'morning, Chimerastar. Did you need something?" She giggled slightly with a small flick of her tail, "or, did you just notice I was here?"
She gave him a warm smile with eyes as bright as the stars she worships.
Huh -- so it really was her. How long had she been in his clan? Not the whole time, he knew that for sure. "Where have you been? I started a whole clan while you were away," he said automatically, his ears flicking back as his expression became more grouchy. "Left me stranded without a healer for moons. Don't laugh when you see your replacement, he was all I had to work with."
A god-slaying freedom fighter medicine cat wasn't really that different from Juniper, now that he thought about it. She had played a role in Riverwolf's fall.
"I've seen him, though we haven't met formally." She put a paw over her maw as to cover her upcoming giggles. "Quite the tom, and quite gifted on his own."
Juni licked her paw and began to rub the sleep out of her eyes, sitting down, wrapping her tail around her body. "It's been a moon or two. I spent some time in the Regime with their Guiders, learning the ways of their medicine and healing. I met a girl there..." She trailed off with glazed eyes looking out at the indigo dawn before her. She shook her head and put a smile back on her face, looking at Chim. "You know me- always small and quiet. Though... this feels like home. You know."
Chim snorted. "The only thing Firetooth is gifted with is overconfidence. Now that you're back, you can take his place and I won't have to worry about him starting any more wars."
He had been waiting for Firetooth to train an apprentice so he could replace him; Juniper was proving an even better opportunity.
Chim thought over the rest of what she had to say, and he frowned, wondering what happened to the cat she had met. If she was in love, why did she come all this way alone? Maybe it wasn't a feeling of home that propelled her as much as she was simply running away from bad memories. "This isn't the same as living in WaterClan," he cautioned her. "Things aren't easy living on the move. Are you sure you want to be here?"
Juni closed her eyes as her smile slightly shrinked. "I can't replace your medicine cat- not now, anyway. I learned much about healing during my time with the Guiders, though I believe my own days of healing sickness and mending wounds are over." Still fresh memories flashed before the black of her eyelids and she tried to shake them out of her head. She took a deep breath and opened her eyes.
"Life in the tunnels wasn't easy, either. Neither was the trip to find you. I've made up my mind, Chimerastar. I'm home."
Chim scowled. As long as her paws were physically capable of healing, he didn't see why she should be able to step aside. Chim wanted to retire, but his clan needed him, so here he was. Why couldn't Juniper show the same dedication to her new clan?
"Do you even know how to hunt? If you aren't going to heal, you'll have to pull your weight another way. That's hunting, and providing meals for the clan... or being a scout," he acknowledged.
