Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Jetclaw's claws dug into the ground. Fury building in her. But she said nothing, because the little rat was right. Despite her inflammatory comments, if Jetclaw lashed out here she'd lose.
"That's enough!" Softpelt said striding forwards and stepping between Dovewish, Dancingdragon and Jetclaw. "Dovewish! While you may not have raised your voice. Your words are unnecessary mean, along with you Dancingdragon! Shame on both of you!"
"But she does need to keep a handle on her temper." Lightstep meowed. "She could drag us into unnecassary fights. You think Wintrystar or Hystericstar will be nicer?"
Softpelt's intervention gave Jetclaw a chance to compose herself.
"I apologize for having emotions," Jetclaw said curtly straightening up. "Didn't know having a heart was so undesirable in a leader. Perhaps you'd prefer to sociopaths that apparently led you before and led you nearly to ruin? Yes, I'm angry."
"But not because you're questioning," Jetclaw said firmly, she looked to Dancingdragon. "You both keep misconstruing what I'm saying. I fought a cat who was much like the ones you keep fearing I would be like. I was outmatched because I was fighting against a monster of a cat. Considering you fought the league, you're familiar with the type."
She glanced at Dovewish, "Well, except you, since you were noticeably absent during your clans time of need."
"But anyways I fought them. Monstrous brutes with nothing but a mind for killing." She said.
"And I fought with everything I had, almost had the traitor's life in my claws. Until the brutescame in and it was all over. I was beaten with in an inch of my life. Presumed dead, and forced to drag myself away. I would return, but the SunClan I knew has been lost."
"So if you don't want a leader who's willing to fight against corruption. Who wants to lead you to get to where each of you can take at least one of those brutes." She spared a glance towards Honeycream and other peaceful SpringClan cats she'd noted. "If cats should want that as well. My goal is a clan that has the claws to defend it, but maintain it's core of loyal, loving, peaceful cats."
"But," Jetclaw drew out he word fixing Dancingdragon, Lightstep and Dovewish with a look. "If because I have emotions, because I lost my fight against a mutinous group following a traitor, or just because I'm an outsider, is enough evidence for you to throw all that out. And turn against StarClan who vouch for me. Well, you can go right ahead."
She turned to the rest of the clan. "I'll leave it to the rest of the clan to decide." Jetclaw meowed firmly.
Softpelt looked towards the three who were arguing against it, then to the rest of the clan, looking towards Fawnheart for help. "Fawnheart?" She asked in a whisper. "You're the other medicine cat... what-what do you think?"
Dancingdragon may have still been shooting dagger-point glares, but a new, tinid voice spoke up, trembling a little. "U-uh, Jetclaw?" The tiny tabby glanced up at the alleged leader then back down at her small, scarred paws, circling a claw through the dirt undertoe. "I know what a claw is because I have some b-but Coralkit told me that jet is another word for the dirtplace, but all the other kits laughed at me when I called it that. If you're leader now does that mean you can make them stop?" Her face scrunched up, tearful, but she adopted her bravest look as she once more let her eyes rise to Jetclaw.
Jetclaw blinked, the tension leaving her as the little voice spoke up.
"Well," Jetclaw said padding over to the little kit. "I can certainly reprimand the other kits for being mean, as it's an honest mistake." She told the young kit, coming to a stop before her. "You're..." She tried to think for a moment. "Raggedkit right?" She recalled Softpelt trying to wrangle some of the kits the other day, and she'd overheard the name be mentioned.
And it fit given how raggedy the little kit looked with her burns.
"You're very brave in speaking up little one." She meowed gently. "I know it can be hard when kits tease you. But they should be ashamed for making fun of mistakes. For it is through mistakes we learn. Without them we go nowhere. But if you can tell me who teased you I will see it they get reprimanded after the meeting." She assured Raggedkit.

"It wasn't me," Coralkit immediately said from the back of the crowd, even though she'd been directly implicated in the incident. SpringClan could be led by a dead rat lying on the side of a Thunderpath for all she cared, but her honour was something she would always be compelled to defend. "I would never do something like that. Not on purpose, anyway. Or at least I would only do it on purpose to a few specific people I don't like."
listen i wanted to contribute but it was 2 am and i didnt feel like reading the first page of the thread we all have our flaws
"Well Littlekit picks on me a lot and--" Raggedkit suddenly turned at the sound of Coralkit's assertion from the very back of the gathering. "Coralkit!! Don't you remember? I asked you what a jet is and you were all like 'I know what it means but I'll only tell you for the right price' but then I said I would do all your chores until we die and then you were all 'Jet is how the warriors say dirtplace, like a code word. That's where they meet up and make all the rules that we the kits have to follow.'" As she related the tale of how she ended up telling everyone she needed to go to the jet anytime she went to the dirtplace, hoping it would make her seem in with the warriors and they might let her in on the secrets currently above her level of authority, she also reenacted it, turning to either side to distinguish who was speaking and also (badly) mimicking Coralkit's voice.
She turned back to Jetclaw. "So...what does jet mean?" She wondered if it was cool, something much better than Dirtplacestar.
Behind her their clanmates bit back snickers at how seriously she stared at Jetclaw.
Dovewish opened her jaws to fire back, furious that Softpelt reprimanded her in front of the entire clan, but the kits cut her off and she turned to look at them. She wondered how Jetclaw would handle this. The duties of a leader required the proper care of the entire clan, which included the kits. If Jetclaw turned this kit away, Dovewish was going to get her for sure. However, to her surprise, Jetclaw handled it professionally but gentle enough for a kit to understand and feel comfortable. She was smart. She would have to find another way to test Jetclaw.
Fawnheart also opened her mouth to speak but the kit spoke first and her gaze softened to listen to what the kit had to say. While Jetclaw and Raggedkit were talked, Fawnheart made her way over to Softpelt. "Jetclaw is a good choice and if Starclan chose her, then so be it. I will never defy Starclan."
Jetclaw chuckled. "Well. From what I've heard there are many who refer to Jet as different things. When I was in a place with different cats, they told me 'Jet' referred to a powerful stream of water. A 'jet' of water if you will." She told the kit, for a moment not seeing Raggedkit but a different young cat. A cat who had shared her name and looked at her in wonder.
"But the term I'm most familiar with is the one my mother said she named me after. She said Twolegs had these massive silver birds near where she'd lived. They were loud, and powerful. Taking to the sky faster than any cat could run." Jetclaw meowed, eyes getting a far away look. "Mother used to say I was quite loud and fast, so I was named for that. Though I suppose 'jets' of water are also quite loud and fast I believe." She said with a mrrow of amusement.
"But don't feel bad for getting something wrong." Jetclaw added. "If we don't make mistakes we cannot learn and advance. And admitting to our mistakes is always step one to our advancement."
Softpelt's throat tightened when Fawnheart backed her up stating that 'she would never defy StarClan'. Not trusting herself to speak she nodded, glancing out to the other members of the clan.
Several cats nodded in agreement to Fawnheart's statement.
Lightstep curled her lip still looking displeased with this turn of events. But having nothing to offer she slunk to the back of the group.
Raggedkit's expression resembled that of someone trying to do a super hard math equation. Jet of water... Silver birds... Waterstar? Birdstar? Birdwaterstar? Waterbirdstar? Waterbirdstar! She seemed pleased by her internal thoughts, but before anyone could say anything else, she chirped, "Okay, thanks Jetclaw!" and sped off back towards the nursery.
"You win this one, Jetclaw," huffed Dancingdragon, whose thoughts had reflected Dovewish's on the unfolding matter.

Coralkit watched Raggedkit run back to the nursery, the corners of her lips curling upwards in a sly smile. "Heh. Kits are dumb."
Not that adults were any better. Didn't they know that the problem was with the position of leader itself, and not with whoever held it? Still, trying to explain it to these bootlickers would probably give both of them an aneurysm, and she was way too young to die from...whatever an aneurysm involved. "Well, I'm gonna go wreak havoc somewhere else. Jetclaw or whatever her name is gets my vote--if you'd let me have one, anyway. See ya laters, alligators."
Jetclaw couldn't help letting out a purr as she watched the kits go. They looked big enough to be apprenticed soon, perhaps she would take one on when the time came.
She turned her attention to Dancingdragn, head lifting pride rising as the she cat conceded the point as murmurs of approval began to ripple through SpringClan.
"Then unless anyone else has anything else to say," She cast a glance towards Dovewish, "It would be my honor to fulfill StarClan's choice as your leader, and for my first act as leader."
"So she's Jetstar! Jetstar!" Maskedpaw cheered in the background glancing at the others to see if it was picked up.
