Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Snowcloak's face filled with concern as he padded toward her and took her paw into his. She looked worse off than when he first left for camp. "You look great," he said with a nervous smile. For him, it was a way to cope with the situation. Lilacbane was healthy and strong, what should he be worried about? The birthing should go without a hitch, right? He looked back to Brakewings. "Is there anything you need me to do?" Cleaver
"Yes, they're coming, my dear. I'm here now, though. I'll help you through this." She pushed a stick toward her daughter and laid down beside her. "Your going to need something to bite down on." She responded, gently. She began lapping her daughter between the ears in a comforting rythm.
"I need you to stay back and get ready to welcome her kittens in the world," Brakewings told Snowcloak with a soft smile. "She's going to be fine." He turned back to the queen and placed his paw along her sides, confirming what he had already decided. Then the medicine cat nodded to the queen. With Windchaser and him here, Lilacbane was in very good paws.
By the end of the kitting there were five kits, two gray point Siamese, two flame point Siamese, and one kit that mirrored closely to Windchaser and Lilacbane. Lilacbane was out like a light almost immediately after, but everyone was in good health. However the scent of birth had lured over a coyote closer to their location than it ever normally would have. They were out in the open, but given the size of the cats and the fact that the fall weather was taking away the coyotes prey he was willing to fight to snatch up a kit.
The coyote entered the clearing, cautious by nature at first before drawing closer to the group of cats, testing the waters. They were small to the coyote, but they still outnumbered the animal.
Too busy admiring his kits, Snowcloak almost didn't notice the scent of the air change with the presence of the predator. The faint sound of a snapping twig, caught his attention. Whipping around to the face the source of the sound. "It would appear we have an unwanted visitor," he said over his shoulder as his fur began to bristle. Of course a coyote would show up at a time like this. Hopefully, they would be able to scare it off with a few warning swipes but then again it had the size advantage.
Windchaser immediately shot to her paws, fur bristling. "Coyotes aren't usually much of a threat but with leafbare just around the corner, I'm sure hunger has driven him to desperation." The ginger and white warrior pointed out, flexing her claws and judging where the predator's next move would be.
"A kitting queen appears weak, and the kits make a good meal. He thinks this will be an easy kill... but he's wrong." Brakewings narrowed his eyes as he stood up and placed himself protectively in front of the family. His fighting skills were rusty, but he would protect Lilacbane with his life.
