Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Pumpkins of various sizes sat all around camp as cats of all ages painted and carved into them. The pumpkins were gathered from the nearby farm, most of them the rejected pumpkins that were too lumpy to get a reasonable profit off of. Thanks to some of the ex SunClan cats DayClan was able to also paint this year instead of just carving them.
Because there were so many pumpkins this year DayClan also invited their ally Primal Instinct to stop by and carve and paint some pumpkins if they wished to.
Gingersnap typically had a large assortment of colors back when she was in SunClan, but now the colors were much more limited, especially in the colder season. However DayClan seemed to have a surplus of autumn shaded colors that in SunClan's landscape just wasn't possible. Especially the rare and elusive color of eggplant purple, which she promptly scrubbed all across her orange pumpkin. Currently she was trying to carve into it with her claws. DayClan cats seemed to have a much better idea on how to easily carve pumpkins than she did. For one, she was trying to carve it open from the front instead of starting at the top to gut it out, but when that didn't work she looked to the person next to her, "Have you ever carved a pumpkin before?"
Bubblegleam glanced dubiously at Gingersnap's pumpkin. The other she-cat's method was, to put it frankly, completely deranged. "Where the hell did you even...mever mind," she muttered, before catching herself. "Try starting from the top--like this." With one fluid, practiced motion, she neatly carved out a piece of her own pumpkin with a swoop of her claws. "You see?"
Nearby, Peachblush was having his own fair share of trouble. Sure, he'd been pretty good at flower arrangements back when he rolled with SpringClan, but what did pumpkins have to do with flowers? Why would everyone just assume he would be good at pumpkin carving when they really weren't the same thing at all? Why did everyone keep putting such high expectations on him?!?! "No, no, no!" he hissed, as his pumpkin finally gave up the ghost and collapsed onto itself, leaving an off-putting pile of orange gloop in full view of everyone else. "...I meant for that to happen."
Gingersnap nodded, "Mhmm. Mhmm." She said, weaving her tongue to the corner of her lips as she carved into the pumpkin with a zig zagged motion, completely disregarding Bubblegleam's advice, but did manage to open it at the top at least even if it wasn't a perfect circle. "Pumpkin gut time!" She squealed as she began to slap out every goopy pumpkin piece out of the pumpkin and into the air. Wherever it landed that was up to fate at this point.
"Pft, Blunderblush," Fuzzyheart teased before licking his mates cheek tenderly, "C'mon I'll guide you this time."
Using his claws was something Fuzzyheart could get behind as an ex proxy, which was why he already had four finished jack-o-lanterns. He moved a smaller pumpkin with his nose over to his mate before sitting down behind him. He gently moved Peachblush's paw over to the top of the pumpkin, "Just trace it a few times, you'll get used to the motion," He encouraged, his breath tickling his ear.
Creek had carried Loelia all the way from the League to DayClan and was exhausted before even reaching the border. Tall as he was, the Shaman's priority had never been physical strength, so carrying another body for such a distance really did a number on him. Presently he sat at the sidelines, doing his best to seem alert, not speaking at all... until he turned his head to see Loelia looking up at him expectantly, "What do you want?"
While it had been his idea to come here, for some reason Creek did not consider this a date. More of a... take Loelia out of have some fun just tow two of them special event. In other words, he hadn't planned any further than getting here. Faith
Smashpaw had picked the biggest pumpkin of the bunch and was struggling to hollow it out. After awkwardly pulling off the top, she had begun to dig out the seeds and was presently halfway done. While she worked she flung the guts of the pumpkin every direction. One of those guts collided mid-air with Gingersnap's toss, sending the heaping mess right back at the former SunClan Janus.
"Watch out..." Divinefavor called, standing up to bat the mess down but it was too late. She looked conflicted for a moment then her expression changed into a smirk sat herself right back down.
Bubblegleam's fight-or-flight instincts kicked in as Gingersnap flung pumpkin guts into air; impulsively recoiling away from the carnage with a shriek, she caught sight of the gloop colliding with Smashpaw's pumpkin wreckage and shrieked again. "Why does no one in this Clan know how to handle a pumpkin with dignity?!?!" she yelled, diving for cover behind the nursery. "I'm trapped in a pumpkin nightmare..."
Peachblush was completely oblivious to his daughter losing her mind a few tail-lengths away, chalking the noise up to a few apprentices getting overzealous with their carving. He watched the way that Fuzzyheart guided his paw atop the pumpkin, careful yet confident. "You know, I think you should show me by doing it yourself, one more time. Use those big muscles."
Loelia-kun sat down, her expectant violet gaze staring up at him, but blushed when he turned to look at her. "Um... A pumpkin?" She asked with cute rounded doe eyes. She knew it must of not been easy for Creek to carry her, sometimes he had to, but the guilt of it wore on her. She wasn't small, she was an average size feline for her age and she knew she would be growing bigger. Lately she had been trying to not eat so much in an effort to make her lighter or maybe stunt her growth or something. But she was pretty certain that Creek was catching on and if he did she was certain he would be afraid to shove some food into her mouth.
Gingersnap giggled at Bubblegleam before noticing that she made her little sister smile. Gingersnap gave a big toothy grin back to her, "Want to work next to me?" She asked Divinefavor.
"Okay, I'll get you one," Creek replied, getting to his paws and carrying the rather average-sized squash over to Loelia and plopping it down in front of her. He'd seen these around twolegplace but never really messed with them much. Outside of nutrition they had no apparent value, although they were prone to fermentation and the resulting wine-like substance had proved popular at the black market lately, "This will be a great exercise for your arms. Carving them like everyone else, I mean." He said, sitting down next to her, "But I'll help you if you want. This is supposed to be for fun, not strength training." He gave her one of his rare smiles, "Where do you want to start?"
Divinefavor's face looked like a question mark, she didn't expect to be called out at all much less invited over to help. She and Gingersnap hadn't exactly made up from their first real interaction a few moons ago so she'd kind of been avoiding her. On whim, though, she nodded and padded over to her, "I don't really want to carve any," She admitted although actually she wanted to but had already decided she would not, "But I'll keep you company if you promise not to get any on my fur."
