Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
For reference this plot kicks directly early in the morning after The Celebration of Lights.
If you rp a kitten in Fallclan please consider joining the sign ups! It will be a fun plot I highly recommend signing up. If you do not have a kitten character but wish to join in. Feel free to create a kitten solely for this plot. We do need some kittens to die after all. Also feel free to have a random crow drop out of the sky either hitting your character or falling beside them. There is supposed to be multiple crows falling slowly from the sky.
Amberbird was still missing and it has been over a moon since the Medicine Cat has disappeared from the Clan leaving the medicine cat apprentice to her own devices. Chestnutpaw left the Celebration of Lights to turn in for the evening. As she settled into her nest sleep came to her rather quickly.
When she opened her eyes she found herself in a strange place. The sky had a purple hue to it but lacked a sun or a moon. The over grown grass had a slight sparkle to it similar to the stars in the sky. Chestnutpaw didn't recognize her surroundings. It didn't look like any place she had seen in Fallclan territory or any place she had seen in Summerclan's territory. She continued to walk forward in hopes to find a place that looked familiar. She came across a strange looking tree. It lacked leaves and was all alone in the middle of this abandoned meadow.
"Strange isn't it." A voice carried along the wind.
"Who's there?" The medicine cat apprentice called out. Looking in every direction searching for the location of the voice.
She saw a cat in the far distance. She swore she could see right through them. She could barely make out the color of their fur let alone the features. If she squinted hard enough she could faintly make out the pale silver tabby fur and the pair of vibrant blue green eyes that stared back at her. The cat strangly looked similar to her aunt Seablossom and her father Applecrisp. A fact that slight confused the apprentice. She also noticed what appeared to be stars in her fur and before she could rushed after the other cat. They vanished in thin air just like that and she found herself alone once more.
"Am I in Starclan?" She stated out loud to the empty meadow but was only met with silence.
A sharp caw from a crow sounded behind her. Crows started to flock to the area some perched in the dead tree. Several circled the sky above her head and a few landed on the ground surrounding her. She felt corned and a tinge of fear. She swore they were staring her down like she was a piece of fresh kill ripe for the taking.
"When death comes on a crow's wing, the lonely mountain wind will sing, and 'less the balance is restored, the Fall will face chaos and discord." The voice from before drifted on the wind in an haunted tone just as a large crow dropped from the sky heading directly at the young apprentice.
Chestnutpaw's eyes flew up and she quickly sat up in her nest. The blood in her ear roared as her heart pounded in her chest. "Its only a dream only a dream. Get a hold of yourself Chestnutpaw. Your Fallclan's medicine cat apprentices for goodness sakes." She told herself as she attempted to calm herself. She noticed the early morning light streaming in through the den's entrance. Maybe some breakfast would do her some good to forget the strange nightmare. She left her nest and padded to the entrance. Pausing to take a deep breath of the cool crisp morning air. Suddenly...
THUMP!
A large black colored object fell from the sky and landed at the Chestnutpaw's feet. It took her a moment to process what had happened. But after she recovered from her initial shock. It registered that the object the thing that fell from the sky to land in front of her paws was none other than a crow. The sight of the crow made her blood turn cold and her heart felt like it momentarily stopped in her chest. She felt fearfully at the sight of the crow and the words that had drifted on the wind from her dream the night before came back to her crystal clear. All she could do was stand there and let out an ear piecing scream.
It had been a long night, and Hystericstar had stayed awake for most of it to clean up after the festival. Although he was quite used to staying up deep into the night, it was usually with his nose buried in his experiments, and so the physical labor of the night before had worn him out. Luckily, some others had stayed with him to help, but all the leader wanted was to go back to his own den. It didn't seem like that long ago that he finally was able to pass out in his own nest and fall into a blissful, dreamless slumber that was going to last long through the morning.
Or, it would have, if it weren't for the scream.
Hystericstar jumped out of his nest, twisted whiskers twitching as he stalked towards the entrance of his den. "What in the world is-" the moment he left his den, his narrowed eyes initially locked on Chestnutpaw, a black mass landed just in front of the hairless tom. Slowly, his golden gaze fell onto the crow, then flickered to the one at Chestnutpaw's feet, his sleep-ridden mind working to fit the pieces together.
"Oh." If he didn't know any better, he would have assumed that he was still asleep. Actually, maybe he was asleep, but the terrified look on the medicine cat apprentice's face told him otherwise.
Wailingkit had been woken up by the screams. For a second she had been too scared to go out and see, though curiosity soon got the better of her. She reasoned since there was only one scream it had to be somewhat safe at least. Peeking her head out she soon darted across the camp only stumbling once. A large crow almost nailed her as it hit the ground. Screeching the little calico lept back. Panic filled her eyes as she looked between Hystericstar and Chestnutpaw. What exactly was going on, she did not know, but her fur couldn't help but stand up on its ends.
"What's happening?" There was almost no chance they actually knew what was going on. Yet there was a pleading look in her eyes as she looked at the older cats. Chestnutpaw had to know something, the apprentice was supposed to have contact with StarClan. StarClan just had to know how to fix everything right? Hystericstar did something, though what exactly Wailingkit did not know. He probably knew something that would fix this? The tom was in charge of the clan, which in her mind meant he just had to know everything.
When the second and third crow fell from the sky. Chestnutpaw started to back away and moved further back into her den. Cowering down in the entrance she watched as more crows slowly fell from the sky. "There is a great darkness upon us." She stated as her eyes appeared distant.

Vixensong had looked mortified the moment she saw the crow fall from the sky and land at the feet of their leader. She had missed the one that landed at the paws of Chestnutpaw, but now that she looked at it the fur along her neck rose. "What do you mean?" The new warrior asked, emerging from her den and into the clearing. Her brother Ravenspaw had walked up to her side, brushing his pelt against hers as his ears lay flat against his head.

Shieldheart's eyelids cracked open at the sound of an ear-splitting scream. At first, he believed the sound had been part of a dream, but as his pupils lazily scanned the warrior's den, he recognized the alarm of his clanmates. What's going on? Pushing himself out of his warm nest, the deputy stomped outside to see a group forming in front of the medicine cat's den. That was worrying, especially as he noted Hystericstar as one of the gathered cats. Brows furrowing, the tom started walking towards them at a faster pace. Out of the corner of his eye, he noticed a kit stumbling across the clearing. Not a big deal. At least not until a crow rocketed straight out of the sky, nearly hitting her as it reached the ground with a splat. His eyes rounded comically at the sight, but the kit made it safely to the group and that drew Shieldheart's attention to another crow sprawled out by the leader's den. Slowly, the dots connected in his mind and as he reached the medicine cat's den and saw another crow there, his suspicions were confirmed.
"There is a great darkness upon us."
"Ah, c'mon. Sometimes birds fall from the sky," the tabby remarked. "Doesn't mean the world's ending or anything." The words were meant to reassure the younger cats around them, not wanting Chestnutpaw's omen to scare them too much. Although, he found he was more relaxed in this situation than he should be and blamed it on the previous night's events.
Wailingkit was anything but reassured by the deputy’s words. To her it did not make sense for birds to fall from the sky; they could fly after all and if they felt sick would they not just stay in their nests? So she inches closer to Hystericstar. He would protect her, after all he was the leader. If he showed any discomfort by her closeness she did notice. Her eyes were trained on the sky perhaps waiting for the clouds to start falling as well. There would be little chance that one of the older cats would be able to get her back to the nursery. There was simply to much going on right now for her to miss out on, even if she could not exactly do anything. Wailingkit really just likes to be involved.

Vixensong looked towards Shieldheart, not entirely convinced by his words. "But then why would Chestnutpaw see an omen in this?" She questioned. Ravenspaw curled his tail around his sister's side. "Maybe Sheildheart is right? Maybe we're just reading too much into this. Who knows maybe these two ate something bad?" The young apprentice said
Holding back a sigh, Hystericstar glanced at Chestnutpaw one more time before taking in the beginnings of a crowd forming. Although he had no idea what was going on, panic definitely was going to make the situation worse. With a nod to his deputy, he said, "Shieldheart and Ravenspaw are right. We can't just assume the worst before knowing what it is. There are plenty of reasons this could have happened. Bad food is definitely a plausible reason." How does someone calm down a group of cats again? He needed to get Chestnutpaw away, before she spouted more nonsense. That would help. He took a deep breath, almost appearing bored in his tired state. "In any case, I'll look into this, with Chestnutpaw's help."
He gave another nod to Shieldheart as he passed by to the apprentice's side, trying his best to be gentle as he pushed her back inside the medicine cat den. Hopefully his deputy could help calm things down and join them soon enough.

Shieldheart was relieved by the reactions of some of the cats, happy to have squashed any initial panic caused by Chestnutpaw's words. Nodding back to Hystericstar with an appreciative expression, he took his leader's gesture for the sign it was. He needed to reassure those in the camp or distract them from what had happened as fast as possible. Luckily it was only a few cats that had been around the medicine cat apprentice, but he knew plenty of others had heard the scream. Thinking fast, the tabby turned to Vixensong and Ravenspaw. "Could you two move the crows out of the way? We might look at them later so don't take them too far, and make sure you don't carry them in your mouths." The sooner the birds were out of everyone's line of sight, the less questions would be asked.
Next, his sage-colored eyes landed on Wailingkit. He could tell she was skeptical of what was going on, but she was handling everything very maturely for someone so young. Especially when considering a crow had almost taken her out only moments before. Leaning down so that his gaze was even to hers, he did his best to appear unnerved by the situation. "I have a special job for you, Wailingkit."

Vixensong flicked her ears, a look of distaste falling upon her face as the deputy asked her and her brother to move the crows. Of course, she would do what he asked her to do. It just gave her an unsettling feeling in her stomach as she wrapped her tail around the body of one of the crows, carefully lifting it up. Ravenspaw had done the same, curling his lip a bit at the feel of the stiff body.
"Come on." Vixensong said, cocking her head towards the medicine cat den. "We'll put them in there for now."
"Yea, sure... lets just hurry up." Ravenspaw said as he quickly trotted off towards the medicine cat's den, the dead bird hanging limply from his tail
Wailingkit looked up at the deputy. “Oh what can I do?” Her tail vibrated with excitement, finally she was going to be trusted with something. It might even be important. How exciting that would be? She really just hoped that she wouldn’t mess up or trip over her paws. This could be her big break. Wailingkit was always trying her hardest though most of the time she ended messing up, always by accident though. That had to mean something that she at least meant well.
Howlingkit spotted her sister outside the nursery. The little grey tabby darted across the camp, curious what her sister was doing. Howlingkit just wanted to be included, she was always curious about what her siblings were doing. She did not have the problems some of her siblings had, though she did have a hard time falling asleep every now and then. But that didn’t bother her that much, what did was how sometimes she was excluded from things. “Can I help too?” She bounced in place.
Seablossom had rushed out of the den first thing, terrified and heart racing at the scream she'd heard. But all she came face to face with was a few crows dead on the ground and the remaining staff of FallClan standing around them. As a past leader, she knew a sign from StarClan, or at least could see things as such, and so dread filled her heart at the thought that this was an ill omen. Crows had never been known for being a good omen, good prey yes, but not good omens. The last leader of EarthClan paled as the birds were carried away, fear, despair and dread all clutching at her soul. Did...did this have something to do with her missing brother, Amberbird? Was it a sign that the medicine cat, named for a bird, was dead? She could feel herself beginning to panic, losing focus on the world around her at the thought of loosing her dear brother to anything. But if not that...then what was this omen about?
Blueflame had stayed up the whole night helping with clean up, so when a crow nearly hit her first thing in the morning light, she thought nothing of it. And then more kept dropping and she began to wonder. The normally energetic she-cat was staring up at the sky, half expecting it to start raining more crows or the morning light to stop rising and darkness take over, just as Chestnutpaw said.
Poisonrush figured he would sleep in. Normally, the Aurulent would be awake at this early hour, but the activities of the night before drained him of his energy. But the sound of something or some things, solid hitting the ground disturbed his slumber. Sleepily, he opened his eyes, morning light filling the den. Stretching and rising from his nest, the tom shambled toward the entrance. "Hey, Blue-," he yawned, as he stepped into the clearing "-flame, what's going on out here?" he asked, not cognizant enough to see that crows littered the ground. pao

Smiling fondly at the kit's enthusiasm, Shieldheart made to answer her but paused as Howlingkit joined them. Briefly, he wondered how much she was aware of the situation and whether it was wise to continue in her presence. Then he recalled that the two were sisters--part of a litter born on the blood moon. While the deputy wasn't one to doubt superstitions, he didn't exactly believe the kits were cursed despite the many rumors he'd heard. In any case, because the two were related, he figured the news would spread between them at some point. "Sure you can," the tom said with an approving nod at the younger she-kit. "Now, because we're still trying to figure out what's going on, we're gonna want to keep this bird thing to ourselves. Just for a little bit anyway. So, when you two head back to the nursery, you need to be brave. If anyone asks what happened, tell them a funny story or something. Do you think you can do that? I know it would mean a lot to Hystericstar and I."
Yeah, so it wasn't a flashy mission but it was going to be important to keep the rest of the kits at peace, especially since they were known to exaggerate. Until Hystericstar could announce the omen to the clan in the way he felt was best, keeping it a secret was the smartest thing Shieldheart could think of. @atomheart
The two kits nodded, their siblings would unquestionably believe them and if they stood in the doorway none of the other kits would probably come close. “Maybe we can say Hystericstar had a nightmare.” Howlingkit turned to her sister as they began to think up a story to tell the others. “Or maybe he saw an owl in the sky?” Wailingkit offered her sister. Owls were scary and had been known to steal kits out of camp. Plus it sounded much better than the leader having a nightmare as funny as that sounded. The two kittens chattered together, plotting out their story as they settled down in front of the nursery entrance.

He watched the kits as they walked away, content that they'd handle things well if their planning was anything to go by. Ravenspaw and Vixensong were making quick work of the crows as well, which left only a few stragglers left in the clearing. None of them set off any red flags in his mind, so he decided to leave them to their devices. At least he'd managed to prevent most of the clan from panicking. Although, his own heart was still racing as he turned to the medicine cat's den. Dread weighed him down as he entered it, expecting nothing good from Chestnutpaw but he knew it was time to join her and Hystericstar. They had to figure out what was going on and how to handle things moving forward. @turtlenoir lavellan
