Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
DayClan's camp was nestled in a peaceful little valley with three thin waterfalls, four tall trees that reached the top of the valley by the heads of their leaves, and some ruins along the valley walls that cats liked to sun on top of. Cream colored butterflies fluttered against the chilly autumn breeze and into the valley. The long purple vines of the wisteria tree at the center of camp danced along in the wild flower scented wind. Cats had gone out apple picking in the morning bringing back a bundle of apples set in a neat pile. There was such a harmony no one would have known that there were SunClan refuges here, at this point they were just as integral to the clan as any member. No one in DayClan called them refuges, at this point they were as equal and belonging in camp as anyone else.
Glowstar picked up a dark red apple in her jaws and trotted over to the sunlight to enjoy it on a warm rock when she could hear the most oddest sound. It sounded like babbling, but it was almost mumbled, not like any creature she had ever heard before. However it didn't sound dangerous, in fact it sounded like a young creature of some sort. A deer maybe? She had never heard a fawn make a noise, maybe that was just what they sounded like.
"You did really well today," he told his apprentice as they headed back toward camp. Was that a glimmer of fondness in his eyes? Lioningsnarl was a tough mentor, and though he was often proud of himself, he was not as generous when it came to others. Their training had been going very well, however. After a few rough patches, he was finally ready to present his fully-trained apprentice to the clan. Cubkit was smaller than most of his family, but he babbled just as frequently, so Lioningsnarl figured he was fine. They had known each other for months - surely Cubkit must be nearly full now.
The Animal Whisperer marched into the camp with his golden head high. "Attention, DayClan!" he called, "I would like to present the newest member of our clan, Cubkit." He stepped aside as his wonderful apprentice wandered into sight.
His wonderful apprentice... a twoleg toddler, drool on the lip and grabby hands outreached.
Mysteryleaf tilted her head, "I know Animal Whisperers need to raise a young of the one they're becoming experts on... but... are we equipped to handle this kit?" The black she cat asked as she walked over to Lioningsnarl and Cubkit sniffing the toddler curiously.
"Of course! He's much better trained than he was last time you met him," he assured Mysteryleaf, ignoring the twoleg kit as it clumsily swiped at the she-cat's fur.
"Lioningsnarl, this two-leg cannot stay in DayClan," Glowstar said, already approaching him, "Think about the two-leg parents, they'll come sniffing around for him. We might have to move to the Keepers Mansion if they become too bothersome or even the league. How long has he been gone?"
"Fight, like a normal warrior," he answered with a shrug, "maybe hunt someday." Lioningsnarl turned to Glowstar with a scowl. "So Fallfling can keep a ferret but I can't keep a twoleg? What about the ferret's parents? Cubkit is my apprentice now. He lives with me." He planted his paws firmly, refusing to answer her further.
"I'll prove it! Cubkit, play-fight with some warriors to prove your strength!"
"She has her ferrets under control, what are you going to do when your two-leg cub goes through his adolescent bonding ritual and brings a monster crashing through here off of the black path?" Glowstar asked, but her head turned as suddenly the animal whisperer just sic his two-leg cub onto the warriors.
"Lioningsnarl," Glowstar said with warning, but Fuzzyheart was already being lifted up into the air at risk of his last eye popping out.
"HELP!" Fuzzyheart said, his paws scrambling to move from the two-leg cubs grip, but he was losing all control to not just claw the kid to pieces.
"I trained the cub, he'll train the monster," Lioningsnarl replied, matter-of-fact. He watched apathetically as the twoleg and warrior fought. Clearly, Cubkit was demonstrating his use.
"Look how effective he already is. Imagine once he's giant how useful he'll be as a warrior! That's enough," he added to the cub.
"AH!" "AH!" "AAAHHHHHH!!!" Fuzzyheart screamed repeatedly as the child began to thrash him around before releasing him to find a new toy. His body crumpled to the ground.
"Fuzzy?" Glowstar asked cautiously, poking him with her paw.
Fuzzyheart stuck his tongue out as though he died, deciding that maybe playing dead was the best route.
"Wow, you broke Fuzzyheart. Lioningsnarl I'm sorry, but you can't keep your job as animal whisperer if your whole job is to collect two-leg cubs. It's not ethical! I think... I'll admit I forgot what the word ethical means, but I'm pretty sure this sums up the opposite of it!" Glowstar scolded him.
"Oh my gosh, a baby twoleg!" Yuccablossom had been out hunting when all this went down. Upon seeing the toddler, she dropped the dead bunny she had been carrying and ran right up to the twoleg, purring all the while. It wasn't like she'd ever been very close to a twoleg in the past, but she had always been deeply fascinated by them, and this one hadn't done anything yet to make her think it was dangerous. She sniffed at its hand and then bit down softly with her teeth, a friendly chomp, nothing more, then gave Glowstar her very best baby doll eyes, "Can we keep it? Please? I'll help feed it!"
