Scorchedwhisker had stopped, his ears pinned to his head as he glared at Pollendrone. What was she biting his head off for? Because he just said what he thought? “Now hold on.” The tom spat. “The only reason Sunclan is in this mess is because Littlecrow decided to kill the Sun God, and Bloodystar let his blind devotion to some celestial cat get the better of him. Take a look around, Pollendrone. You can hope all you want, but Sunclan is broken. You can’t deny it just because you want it to be better for when your kits are born. I’ve been out since the crack of down searching for what little prey there is, sacrificing my share of the catches for you queens and the kits, and for the elders that can’t get their heads out of their as.. their butts to say thank you since this prey shortage began! What, you think we should all risk demotion like your friend by standing up to Bloodystar? Or worse being exiled by forcing him to get his head out of his ass to see what he’s doing to the clan?!” Scorchedwhisker stopped, letting out a soft hiss as his ranting took a toll on his lethargic state. He sat back down on his haunches with a soft thud as he pressed a paw against his head. Great… now he gave himself a headache. “I left my birthclan… my mother, and my sister, to come here thinking that I would finally find a place I would belong. I walked through the fire’s of initiation to earn my spot in this clan, and it is my home. It’s as much a part of me as Moonclan is. You honestly think I’m happy watching it descend into chaos? You think I don’t think its beyond saving, but I do think that it’s nowhere close to being repaired. I think most of us are allowed to be a big bundle of depressing, as you put it. But if that makes me a fool, what does it make you? You, who blindly hopes that things will get better with everything that’s going on. I’m simply being realistic. If that makes me a fool, Pollendrone, then so be it. You’re talking to a cat who ran away from his family to join a clan that had no idea he existed, because I couldn’t handle the whispers of what I was.”
"Littlestar did what she had to." It was the only thing she managed to get out in-between his words, her eyes widening as he continued. She knew it wouldn't be easy, she knew the clan was all but gone at this point but that didn't change the way she felt or at least the way she tried to feel. Her pelt fluffed up as if she were angry but her body shrank back at the force of his words, tears threatened to fall, pooling at the edges of her eyes but she brushed them away. She wasn't sad or truly scared, but once again she was unable to control her hormone powered emotions. "So you plan to just keep doing as Bloodystar says, until when? When does it end, who stops it if not us?" Her words were just above a whisper, loud enough only for the tom to hear. She shook her head and sat up, smoothing her pelt down and taking a breath. "There is sense in what you say, but it has to start somewhere and with someone, that's why I keep hoping, that's why I wont stop believing that things will get better. If we all lose hope then it kills any chance we have. You only need a single spark to start a fire."

He only continued to rub his head with his paw, doing his best to listen to her words. Scorchedwhisker looked up briefly, and quickly regretted it. He wasn’t sure whether it was his words that made her nearly cry, the situation, or her hormones. Regardless he felt a surge of guilt over take him as he looked at her. “Some of us don’t have a choice.” Scorchedwhisker said, his words coming out in a soft growl. “My step-mother is just waiting for a reason to get me out of the picture of her perfect little life. Besides what’s stopping your mate from doing it? He’s huge, he could take Bloodystar out if he wants. You can’t do it because you have to protect your unborn kits. Fact is that we all have something holding us back from speaking out against him. This is… it’s just how it is for now.” He cream colored tom looked at his paws briefly before glancing back up at her. He furrowed his brow a bit, not entirely sure if this would be a good idea, as he lifted his paw and gently poked her nose similar to her earlier action. “Maybe we need someone like you. Someone to hope for us. Be the light in the dark.”
She did fully understand that, protecting their loved ones was priority and it was hard to do anything that could potentially risk their safety but, they weren't safe now either, not really. Her eyes stayed with his, watching him as he looked at her, dropped his gaze and then looked at her again. Pollendrone had spoken out against Bloodystar once before and it gained her only pain, the light scars on her cheeks hidden beneath her fur constant reminders of that day, but she did not regret it because in that moment she was able to take the pain onto herself rather than watch it be inflicted to another. Her mouth opened slightly as words formed in her mind, but what happened next had her stunned into silence, Scorchedwhiskers paw lifted and poked her nose. Her eyes grew wide, and she almost missed what he said following the action due to the surprise, but his voice carried through and a wide smile pulled at her lips. She didnt know what to say, her earlier thought blown away, should she thank him? No that didnt fit. "I don't remember where I heard this, maybe it was a dream I had while I was in the prison, whatever it was it has stuck with me. If you can't see the bright side, I will sit with you in the dark." She was sure she probably sounded weird, but she honestly couldn't remember where the phrase had come from, it felt as if it had been a dream, a voice telling her she wouldnt be alone and she adopted it. "I'll be whatever light I need to be for those who need it, until they can find their own, that includes you." She was still looking at him, she was wrong to be wary of him at first, he was no threat and she could see that now.

“Me? Nah, I think I’m pretty hopeless.” Scorchedwhisker said with a shrug of his shoulders as he curled his tail around his paws. “I’m just a big bundle of depressing, remember?” His voice had taken a light teasing tone to it, something that could have easily been missed if one wasn’t listening carefully enough. “There’s no hope for me. I would save that though for the others. Especially those kits of yours. They’re going to need it a lot more than this grouchy furball.” The tom slowly rose to his paws once more, his tail gently swaying from side to side. “I don’t think that’ll matter though. You seem to be a lot more stubborn than I am.”
It was hard to tell if he was being serious or not, but she decided to act as if it was him joking despite not being sure. "I changed my mind, you're still grumpy but, you arent so bad. I'd even say you are worth saving." She gave him a little smile but not before flicking his ear with her tail as she walked past him. "I'm more stubborn than you?" She stopped and looked at him, feigning innocence. "You sir are full of it, I dont think the world could handle two cats as stubborn as you."

Scorchedwhisker rolled his eyes, but at least she didn’t seem as upset with him or upset with the situation. What on earth had he gotten himself into… “Well thanks, that makes me feel all giddy inside knowing I’m not that bad.” He couldn’t help but be sarcastic. It was just in his nature. He ducked his head a bit after she had flicked him with her tail. Scorchedwhisker muttered something under his breath as he rubbed his ear with his paw, but he should have expected it after poking her nose. But the cream colored tom wasn’t annoyed, not really. He would just have to get used to these antics while around this particular queen it seemed. He shrugged his shoulders. It was just for the day. There was no way that she actually liked being around him. But then she spoke, and Scorchedwhisker almost laughed at what she said. Almost. A small smile tugged at his lips as he slowly stood back up. “Right, because clearly the world couldn’t handle two stubborn cats.”
Pollendrone held back a laugh, he was interesting for sure, far different than Lionpride but not in a bad way. "Of course not, which is why I will be leaving that job to you. Scorchedwhisker the grumpy and Stubborn!" with that her laugh broke through and filled the air, it slowly started to fade as she found her breath was becoming shallow from the severity of it. She took in a deep breath and flicked a drop of water from under her eye.

"The grumpy and stubborn. That's putting it nicely, I've never heard it put that way before." Scorchedwhisker said, becoming more comfortable teasing her. But he faltered when he heard her laughter. He had never made anyone laugh before. Not really. Not even his mother. It made him feel... warm? Nice? "Are you okay?" He asked quickly when he noticed that she had started taking shallow breaths. "Are you crying?" Had he done something to make her upset again? Wasn't she just laughing? The tom looked at her, his blue eyes shimmering with a small bit of concern.
It took her a moment, but she soon noticed the look of concern in his eyes. "I'm more than fine, it's called being happy." She purred, her breathing was more normal now and she smiled. "It's hard to laugh like that and still be able to breath, haven't you ever laughed that hard before?" She couldn't imagine he hadn't, that would be strange, but it seemed this tome lived in a strange world. She took another deeper breath and walked to his side, her brown eyes looking up at his blue ones and she grinned, waiting for him to answer the question. She needed to know.

"Uhm.. well no, actually." Scorchedwhisker admitted. He suddenly felt a bit foolish after the omission. Now that he thought about it, he couldn't think of a time where he had laughed that hard. Maybe a chuckle or two now and then... but he never really laughed. Scorchedwhisker never really felt the need to, and he never really found anything that funny. "I guess I just don't have a sense of humor. I don't really laugh that much." He said with a shrug of his shoulders.
Pollendrones eyes widened at his answer, disbelief flashing in the brown depths as she stared up at him. Her grin faltered slightly and she shook her head, propping herself up on her tiptoes she let her eyes narrow. "That's no good, we'll have to fix that. It's a good thing you met me Scorchedwhisker or else you may have lived your entire life without ever having felt the joy of a good laugh." She gave a curt and matter-o-fact nod before lowering herself back down onto her paw pads, she still couldn't believe he had never really laughed before, she used to do it it all the time and was finally able to do it again even if it wasn't as much. "Just stick with me and you'll be laughing in no time!"

The cream-colored tom raised a brow as Pollendrone stood on her tiptoes once more to face him. He hadn't thought he was that much larger than her.. well maybe not larger but he was certainly tall. He hadn't been aware of it until now though. On instinct his ears went flat, thinking that she would poke him again or move closer into his little personal bubble, but he forced the fur on his neck to lie flat. "I don't really have much reason to laugh. Is that so odd?" He questioned. "Besides aren't we out here to hunt? Weren't you so insistent on that?" Scorchedwhisker didn't want to stay out too long. He was still feeling sick and Pollendrone... was pregnant. He had no doubt that if he didn't get her back soon, her mate would be going crazy looking for her.
"It is very odd, but you're right, we came out here to hunt so lets go!" She turned away from him and began to walk away, assuming he would follow. "So where should we try first? I know some of the places we should stay away from but I don't know where everyone has been trying their luck as of late." Even as she asked she didn't stop to allow him to take the lead, she just kept going forward with her tail swaying lazily behind her.

Well... he didn’t really find it odd. Scorchedwhisker merely shrugged his shoulders as he watched the interesting queen take the lead. He cocked a brow as he followed behind her. “Well if you know where to stay away from that’s a start.” He muttered. The tom should have taken a break and rested. His head pounded, and his eyes all but ached from the bright light of the sun. His vertigo and lethargy were all beginning to hit him at once. But he managed to stay on his paws, though he swayed just a bit. Perhaps it was a good thing that Pollendrone was in the lead. If she saw him stumbling about she’d only ask more questions that he didn’t want to answer. “I haven’t checked near the wastelands yet, but that’s way to far from the camp. We’re better...” He shook his head briefly, as if a fly and quickly landed on his nose, while a wave of dizziness hit him. “Better off going towards the Dayclan border”
Pollendrone kept going until she heard the break in his words, that little moment that he stopped speaking only to continue a moment later. It happened fast, her spinning around to face him, catching him as he shook his head, her eyes sharpened and she planted her paws on the ground firmly. "What was that?" She asked bluntly, she had suspected earlier he had been feeling unwell but he had been stubborn, she hadn't told him but part of the reason she invited herself was to make sure he didnt do anything to get himself hurt. "You know I saw you stumble earlier and still you insist on pushing yourself past your limits! And dont even think about denying it Scorchedwhisker." As she said his name she walked to stand in front of him again, looking over his face before letting her eyes land on his. "How long has it been since you've eaten and slept?"

"I said that we should go near the- whoa!" Scorchedwhisker yowled quickly. He did what he could to back up as Pollendrone was once more nose to nose with him. The tom stumbled once more as he quickly tried to put space between them, but he could only sit back on his hind legs while his front paws were raised awkwardly in front of him. His ears pinned against his head as she scolded him, and once more his eyes tried to look at anything but her. "Well you definitely have the angry mother routine down..." He muttered to himself. "I slept last night, if you really must know. Besides, there's a prey shortage remember? Not much to eat." Scorchedwhisker tried to avoid the question as best he could. Why should she have to worry about him?
Pollendrone chuckled, though it wasn't her usual light and airy laugh, no this one was deeper. "Well if you act like a stubborn kit then that's how you get treated!" Honestly she felt he was worse than that, at least with kits they eventually listened. "You only answered part of my question, when was the last time you ate?" She ignored his awkward position and even dared to take a step closer knowing he had nowhere to escape to unless he was willing to lower himself back to the ground, but that meant getting even closer to her.

Scorcedwhisker leaned back even more, but he couldn't quite balance himself. With a soft thud, he fell onto his back as he continued looking up at her. His blue eyes were narrowed as she continued to reprimand him. He could feel his tail lashing in the grass, and part of him considered gently pushing her back with his paw. It was a very small part. The cream-colored tom stayed where he was, frozen in place. "... I don't know...!" He said with a soft snap. "Yesterday? Maybe? I don't keep track of that anymore."
Pollendrone watched him fall back and suppressed a laugh to maintained her stern features, she wouldnt let him off that easy. "I'm not going back to camp until i see you eat something." She had a serious glint in her eyes as she stared down at him, if he wanted her back safely to avoid not only the wrath of her mate but also her father, whom he had yet to know was the real one he should be worried about, then he would agree. "I'll sit out here all night, so I'd choose what you say next very carefully." She poked his chest as she spoke the word carefully.
