Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
To say that Lionpride was surprised to be assigned an apprentice was an understatement. He had spent the past several moons in prison, and still had yet to fully recover. His shoulders were hunched slightly, pressure sores on his legs and belly, scraps of fur missing, and he had lost a lot of weight and muscle. He slowly walked over to his new apprentice, a scrappy little kit with no fur. He felt sorry for Bravekit, wondering just what sort of ailments he must be suffering from "Hi, Bravekit. I am Lionpride"

Bravepaw was rather shocked at being promoted. Mentally, he'd sort of expected that he might need to wait an extra moon before he was allowed to train. And yet, that wasn't the case. To be fair, however, the young tom was improving every day. Between Mountainsound, and his great grandmother teaching Duskslayer, their near constant care improving his health over time. He had good days and bad days, though the good were starting to outnumber the bad, and thanks to the newer, better herb mixtures, he was finally able to walk some distance without being too overwhelmed, and his skin took longer to burn in the sunlight. It wasn't perfect, but as he grew, it was evident he was no longer quite 'hairless'. Well, he was, but more akin to actual hairless cats, with the barest fine layer of fur just beginning to grow in, like the fuzz on a peach, all but useless to keep out the sun or anything, but for Bravepaw, it was a massive improvement.
Maybe one day he'd actually have a full coat!
He was distracted in his own thoughts about his apprenticeship that he didn't even realize his mentor was here. To be honest, Bravepaw didn't recognize him in the slightest, though Bravepaw rarely recognized anyone. No, not entirely true. Most were vaguely familiar, he supposed it was from glimpsing them from the entrance to the High Priest's den, but he knew no names, no ranks, they were all but strangers in most ways. Damek instinctively trusted Lionpride, however. Not that that counted for much, he had to be careful in SunClan, and he knew it. But he offered a slight smile, looking the large tom up an down. Comparatively, Lionpride was absolutely huge! Bravepaw was exceptionally small thanks to being so sick, though the cat before him didn't look so good. "Are you sick like me too?" He asked curiously. "Should we go to Mountainsound? She can probably help you."

Lionpride smiled, even with all of his own health issues Bravepaw was worried about him based on just appearances. Honestly it was very sweet, and it reminded him of his daughter "I'll be fine" he purred warmly "I just had a rough few weeks, but give me a little bit of time and you won't even be able to tell that anything happened" he let his tail gently touch the young cat on his shoulder "But today is all about you"
He started to lead the young cat towards the tunnel, taking it slow so that Bravepaw wouldn't have to struggle to keep up. Today they would take it easy, he just wanted to get a grasp on the young cat's limits "I want to know ALL about you" he chirped cheerfully "Like what you are most excited about learning, what are things that you like to do? Is there anything that you really don't like?"
Bravepaw tilted his head at Lionpride's questions, though he was satisfied in his mentor's answer about his health. That was good, he trusted Mountainsound would make sure he would be okay. "I don't really know." He admitted, looking around the tunnel with curiosity. "I really haven't had the chance to leave my nest for more than a short time every day."

Lionpride nodded understandingly "Well then today we won't go far, but we will start with something that is both fun and will help build up your stamina. That way if you get tired we can easily get you back" he led the way out of camp, taking him to the lazy river. It also flowed through their camp, but where they were now was very still and gently sloped, perfect for a young cat learning how to swim "We will start with some water exercises, the water will help you not get tired as quickly and to get stronger faster" he purred. It was something he had often done with his daughter after extended illnessess to help her get better

Bravepaw nodded, ears perking at the idea of water exercises. That was a new idea! It sounded fun. "Okay!" Lionpride seemed to know what he was doing, and the young apprentice had no reason not to trust him, so he followed eagerly.

"Have you even been swimming before?" he questioned thoughtfully as the reached the waters edge and waded in without hesitation before turning around to face the young cat "It feels strange at first, but also really good on your skin on a hot day like today. For now I just want you to come into the water up to you belly and get used to walking in the shallows"
