Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Echomelody was a newly wed. She had just married the love of her life and was glowing with happiness but something was amiss. She felt something more was needed. She had a lot on her mind and couldn't sleep so she decided to take a walk. The day time was definitely bright and she had to squint to be able to see in front of her. Perhaps this was a bad idea. However, she needed to clear her mind. As she walked, she passed by a tree with a bird feeding her babies in the nest. She halted and watched them for a moment before realizing what it was she wanted next. She had been holding back having kittens with Beetleflight due to Flamingstar's reign but the baby fever was getting to her. She was ready to become a mother and watch her kits grow into strong and essential warriors. However, she was only just wedded to Beetleflight. Was it too soon to bring up kits to him? Was he ready to be a father so soon?
Burningsummer had opted to not attend the gathering. With both Vixenkismet and Glowstar attending the Gathering, it had made more sense for her to remain behind ready to protect her pregnant sister and DayClan as a whole.
Especially after WinterClan struck. Thank goodness Soaringbird hadn't kitted yet, they weren't exactly thick furred but Soaringbird did have longer fur than Burningsummer at least. And if the father had thick fur her kits could've been exactly what WinterClan was after.
She hummed as she wandered into the gathering space taking a moment to perch up on where the leaders sat. Letting out a long sigh as she laid down on it. How long had it been since she'd been up here?
IT was rather saddening to realize it had been a full cycle of seasons since she'd been Burningstar, leader of NightClan.
But she shook it off and pushed herself up. No time for reminiscing, there was other things to do.
Her ear twitched when she heard movement in NightClan and she paused turning her head towards there.
Curious she hopped down from the rock and made her way over to the edge of NightClan that bordered the Gathering place, peering out into the illuminated forest. Trying to spot who was milling about.
Echomelody's ear swiveled to approaching paw steps, her head following soon after to peer across the border. It didn't take long before her green eyes rested on Burningsummer. When it had clicked who she was looking at, her green eyes brightened and excitement took over the dread she felt in bringing up the discussion of kits to Beetleflight. "Burningsta-... I mean, Burningsummer!" She rushed over to greet the previous Nightclan leader. "What a pleasant surprise! How are you?"
Burningsummer turned ears pricking, and then she let out a purr. "Echomelody! A pleasant face to see for a change." She said. "I heard from some of my clanmates you got married, congratulations! Even before I left I could tell you and Beetleflight had a connection." She said chuckling as she recalled the jittery shy black tom trotting after the tuxedo she cat. "As for me, well truthfully I'm quite happy. SunClan wasn't bad but well, DayClan's a bit more pleasant."
She gestured to the ground beside her. "Please take a seat, for you to be up during the day, must be some big thinking going on. I know I often was up till sunhigh when I had a lot on my mind."
Echomelody felt her cheeks warm when Burningsummer mentioned the chemistry her and Beetleflight had before they were mates. "I did get married" she chuckled. "Thank you. I only wish you could have attended but I could see how that would have gone terribly wrong." The black and white tuxedo cat took a seat beside her former leader, feeling completely comfortable and relieved to have her there and offering her guidance once more. "Sorry things didnt work out for you in Sunclan but I'm happy to hear you are settling well in Dayclan. And yeah...I do have some things on my mind but I'd hate to burden you with them."
Burningsummer shook her head. "You're never a burden Echomelody. What good is a leader that won't listen to the troubles of her clanmates? Though I may not be your leader anymore, I am happy to help you alleviate the burden of such heavy thoughts."
Her tail wrapped around her paws as she nodded to Echomelody encouraging her to speak. "Come now, tell me what's on your mind."
A purr rumbled in her chest. "Well...if you insist. I just think it's time for me to be a mother. Though...I'm not sure how comfortable I am with having kits while Flamingstar is leader. I have to admit, I have notice a slight change in her personality. But...while she has slightly changed, she did have kits but now they are missing and no one seems bothered by it. Not even Flamingstar herself. Its suspicious and makes me second guess my choice in bringing kits into Nightclan. Not to mention that I still don't know how to tell Beetleflight that I'm ready to have kits. I don't know if he's even ready and I don't know how to tell if he is." She admitted, scuffing a white paw across the ground.
Burningsummer's eyes narrowed. "Her kits went missing you say? And no one seems bothered by it?" She let out a hum. That sounded rather familiar. Bringing back memories of when she'd had her very first litter. Her own flesh and blood, and how initially she had taken them to MoonClan to be raised with their father Devilhorns rather than with her.
"It is difficult to be a parent." Burningsummer admitted. "I've had to make difficult choices for my children and for myself. It breaks my heart that my kits have become so scattered throughout the forest clans." Scorchedearth in Moon, Dancingpaw in Sun, Radiantpaw with her in Day, and the rest of her first litter and second litter living in Night. "I would love to say NightClan is a safe place for you to have kits... but I know how Flamingstar can be. I recognize the thirst she has. The thirst to be powerful, to lord her might over the clans. But such power is a difficult thing to cultivate, and one as young as Flamingstar might presume that force alone will grant her might."
"I haven't spent very much time with Flamingstar, really I thought there was great potential in her. And when Soaringbird picked her to serve as her deputy while I was away and Larkwing was lost, I thought it made perfect sense..." Burningsummer sighed and shook her head. "Maybe one day Flamingstar will learn, but... I do apologize I've gone off topic."
She looked up. "I think the best thing you can do is talk to Beetleflight, and come up with plans. If you'd like to have a backup plan of where you and they can move to DayClan, you'd be more than welcome and I'd vouch for you. But I know leaving a clan is hard." Burningsummer said with a soft sigh. "I've found myself longing for the lovely shade and welcome chill of night air for a long time. But I doubt Flamingstar would welcome me back. And I don't know if I would be quite as friendly to her in turn." She said with a laugh.
Echomelody sighed. "As always your right. Maybe Flamingstar did the right thing for her kits and maybe she didn't but I must'nt question her." She shrugged and examined their surroundings before speaking once more. "I should probably talk to him about it. The worst he could say it no and we will just wait a little longer." Then she looked back at Burningstar. "But you don't know if Flamingstar will welcome you back. You haven't tried. If you really wanted to come back, Flamingstar might allow it but you would be closely watched over. She would never fully trust you."
