Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Umbrahound waited for his apprentice, Viridianpaw to join him at the mouth of the cavern. He was going over everything he was going to teach Viridianpaw that night but he still felt nervous. He hadn't really spoken to him before and was unsure if the two of them would get along. No matter, Umbrahound was one of the toughest Nightclan warriors there was. Viridianpaw would probably be just as nervous as he was. Jetclaw
Viridianpaw was the opposite of nervous, if anything the tom was annoyed. All his siblings had up and left NightClan in favor of finding some chaos elsewhere.
Tenebrouspaw off to SunClan. Lingeringpaw off to MoonClan, and who knew where Tempestpaw had gone. Leaving him and his mother.
And really he didn't realize how no one knew how steadily more and more unhinged she was getting. Or Frozenfire's mask was just that good.
So when he drew himself up and went to the mouth of the cave he let out a yawn. Time to get this first introduction over with so they could get on with the training. Unlike his siblings he wasn't a shameful opportunist. He was going to make his own opportunity just like his mother had.
He just needed to get a little stronger and make some more connections so he could actually pull something off.
"What are we gonna do tonight?" He asked once he reached Umbrahound.
Umbrahound opened his mouth but nothing came out. What were they going to do? He had so many things he wanted to teach that he hadn't realized he hadn't chosen just one lesson. He thought back to his own training. Perhaps they could start with hunting? It was a rather boring lesson but a necessary one. "We are going to work on hunting today." He finally spoke, making up his mind. "it's important to be able to hunt for the clan so naturally that would be the first thing you learn." He was unsure of Viridianpaw. He was kind of hoping the apprentice would be more excited or enthused but it was clear the apprentice just wanted to get the night over with so he could relax and do whatever he wanted to do. Umbrahound had his work cut out for him.
"Right, which was why I was taught it earlier." Viridianpaw said. "You... you do know I'm not fresh out of the nursery right?" He asked bristling a little. Jeez he might not have as big of a presence as Giantpaw, or be all glittery happy like Sparklingpaw but he wasn't a wet behind the ears apprentice either. "I've been apprenticed for like moons now,"
"Er, right. Where did you leave off?" He asked, hoping to have some direction to where he needed to go for his apprentice's training. Jeez, this apprentice was definitely a pawful. Was it too late to request a new apprentice?
"Battle training, they left off on how to take down a badger." Viridianpaw said easily. It was a lie, but if Umbrahound was going to prevent a golden opportunity to take control of the training why wouldn't Viridianpaw run with it.
"I'm also lacking a lesson in dealing with cultists, how to pull off an invasion into other clans territory, and how to survive in say twolegplace. Which considering how easy things can go into upheaval, are all useful skills to have."
Umbrahound narrowed his eyes, suspicious that Viridianpaw was really telling the truth. Nightclan cats were known for their great battling skills but he didn't know anyone, let alone an apprentice, that can take down a badger alone. Though, as Viridianpaw went on, he had forgotten about the badger training and surprise lit up in his face. Dealing with cultists? Pulling off an invasion? Surviving in a twoleg place? Nightclan wasn't the kindest of clans but training an apprentice to invade another clan's territory was unacceptable. Where did he learn about cultists? That was when he truly noticed the darkness in Viridianpaw's eyes. He was unsure if he would be able to turn this apprentice around since he was much older but he supposed he would at least try. "While knowing good battle tactics are essential, learning to invade is not necessary. Knowing good tactics will help in scenarios such as that if one were to occur. However, an invasion is not always the solution to a problem. Also, any training I give to you, I can promise you can use in any situation and any destination."
Umbrahound turned away and began to head up the cenote path. "I think we should start with basic survival skills. These skills will help you in any situation you find yourself in."
