Scorchedwhisker was a cat living between two worlds. He thrived under the warmth of the sun, but also came alive under the light of the moon. He never felt like he truly belonged anywhere. The cats of Moonclan shunned him, and his poor mother ran herself ragged defending him. Scorchedwhisker had always caused her problems, but she loved him regardless. Yet what had he done? He left her to come here. Scorchedwhisker wondered if his actions made his mother hate him too? He had certainly broken her heart, he already knew that. Sunclan had been the complete opposite of his birth clan. But one thing had remained the same. No one accepted him here either, at least not at first. Even his father had seemed to keep him at a distance. The siamese tom wasn’t sure if that was because of his sudden appearance, or his father’s newest mate. Wistfulsphinx never hid her feelings towards Scorchedwhisker. Not that the tom cared. He was used to those looks, those hateful words. He had walked through fire to pass his initiation and earn his place in Sunclan. But now he wondered if it was worth it? Worth leaving his mother, and his sister? His blue eyes narrowed. He would make it worth it. No matter what he had to do. He was sure that he would see his mother again, and his sister. The cream colored tom lowered his head as he sat at the base of the tunnel that led out into Sunclan’s territory. He couldn’t remember how many times he had sat here as a young initiate, contemplating running away and returning to the warm embrace of his mother. He missed her terribly, and even now he could feel his heart ache just at the thought of her. She had always had high hopes for him… he would hate to disappoint her…

Burntpheonix put down the fresh kill he had been carrying, motioning for one of the apprentices to carry it the rest of the way to camp as he spotted his son darting out of the maze and out into the territory. Wasting no time, he trotted after him keeping a respectful distance. His son had already grown so much since coming to SunClan, and even though he didn't often show it he was very proud of him. He had faced initiation with courage, never faltering. He moved forward until he was able to sit down beside of scorchedwhisker. He let his tail lightly tap him on the shoulder "Congratulations on passing initiation" it wasn't a lot, but it was something. As he tried to reach out towards his son.

Having thought he was alone, Scorchedwhisker couldn’t help but react the moment he was touched. He had quickly leapt to his paws, his claws sliding out of their sheaths as he turned to face whoever it was. When he saw Burntphoenix, he had forced himself to try and relax. His blue eyes flashed briefly as embarrassment burnt through his pelt. The Siamese tom cleared his throat as he sat back down, curling his tail around his paws. “Uhm... right, thank you...” Scorchedwhisker said. He wasn’t sure what else to say to this tom, his father. The warrior glanced around, wandering if Burntphoenix had been put up to this. When he saw no one in sight, not even little Blissfulkit, he glanced back over at him. “So... uhm, what brings you out here?” It was awkward. He knew it. But Scorchedwhisker wasn’t one for small talk, especially when it was with his father

"I'm here to talk with you... you are my son after all" he smiled slightly, trying to show that he was being genuine even if it came off as sort of forced and awkward "Look I'm sorry I haven't been around for you... I didn't even know you existed until you showed up here asking to initiate" he paused looking down, rather embarrassed "When your mother told me that she had lost our litter, I believed her. It hurt me for a long time, but I have been trying to move on and make a life for myself here"

"Well she wasn't entirely wrong..." Scorchedwhisker muttered to himself, pinning his ears to his head. He heard all about the unfortunate circumstances of his birth during his time in Moonclan. There had been two other kits that didn't make it, and his mother... the tom cleared his throat quickly. "But uhm... yea you don't have to explain yourself, least of all to me. I get it. Long lost son you thought had died suddenly shows up, shakes up your world. I get it I do."

He smiled, gently nudging the tom's shoulder "I know your probably to old to ever think of me as a father figure, but I do hope that we can be friends and that you will allow me to make up for the lost time" Burntpheonix was proud of Scorchedwhisker for coming to SunClan and braving initation, and even though he didn't say those words directly he hoped that his son would understand how he felt. "Blissfulkit has taken a liking to you, and its only a matter of time before the others do to"

Scorchedwhisker attempted to smile at the comment, though it looked more like a sneer. He'd never admit that he came to Sunclan in search of his father. He had been just as surprised as Burntphoenix when his father hadn't realized who he was. "Uh... yea, don't worry about it." The siamese tom said instead. "Blissfulkit... she's lucky she's cute. Not entirely sure what I did to get her attention." Scorchedwhisker said, not mentioning the others. The others in his family didn't seem too thrilled with his presence here

"You don't have to do anything when it comes to kit. They take one look at you and they just know" he chuckled. Kits were so quick to judge one another at first look, and once they made up their mind it was difficult to change it. "You do well with her" he almost added that he would make a good father, but kept that comment to himself. They weren't close enough for that, not yet anyway. He rose to his paw, waving his tail in invitation to follow "I want to know more about you. What you like to do, what your life was like in moonclan, what you want in the future"

Scorchedwhisker only nodded silently in agreement. In truth, he was thankful for the little kit's company. He wasn't entirely sure if it would last long though. When Burntphoenix rose to his paws, Scorchedwhisker believed that was the end of their conversation. But then he beckoned him to follow. The siamese tom blinked slowly as he stared after his father. He looked at him thoughtfully for a moment before he urged himself to follow after him. His ears pinned back a bit though at the mention of Moonclan. "Uh... well... I like to keep busy really." Scorchedwhisker said bluntly. "That or I like to stay out of everyone's way. I like my personal space..."

Burntpheonix smiled slightly, Scorchedwhisker probably didn't know it but he reminded him a lot of his mother. Always so serious and distancing himself from others "Well if there is one thing SunClan is good at it is keeping you busy. Are you enjoying SunClan so far?" he just wanted his son to be happy, but it was difficult to get a read on him. He knew his current mate had been giving him a hard time

"It's fine." Scorchedwhisker said with a soft shrug of his shoulders. "It's no different from Moonclan really... it wasn't that hard to adjust. They just believe in... different gods, that's all." He admitted. "I think the body paint is a bit different. I keep accidentally rubbing it off, which is annoying..."
