Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Left paw, right paw, left paw, right paw. One foot in front of the other - that was how she was going to find her way back. I mean, she found the tunnels to begin with, right? As an accident, nonetheless. She could find them again on purpose... Right? She studied every tree, every bush, and every rock she found - searching for some clue as to where the others had disappeared to. Adox could've sworn that she had been in a crowd just moments prior, but she also could've sworn that she'd been walking for days at this point. It was strange, it reminded her of her days wandering before she found this place. Almost a little too much.
It was hard to think back to those days. It made her chest tight and her limbs heavy. She remembered them only in brief flashes. The cold nights, the mud in her paws, and the howling of animals in the night. This, however, was not going to be like that. She had already decided it. This was merely a fluke, and any moment now, she was going to see something-- anything familiar. Until then, she would continue along, bouncing along from tree to tree, analyzing every smell she came across. Although it was definitely dinnertime at the nursery and that may have influenced her process a little bit, as she found herself peeling her nose away from every possible mouse hole she crossed.
[ my apologies, by dog got sick and needed a couple surgeries and things were messy with him for a bit. ]
Le Petit Volontaire drifted through the territory that he used to call his own, he would not venture as far as to call it home. But for awhile he found himself nestled within the tunnels under his feet and found himself teasing those who breezed through them. Like most places he settled though he found himself shedding those affections and connections as quickly as he always did. What little love he did have was easily disconnected from his deeper feelings, packed away into a box to be remembered fondly but not examined further to avoid bringing up fresh feelings. Fantasizing about could have beens had never lead down happy routes for him, it was easier to pack it all away and leave it in the past.
And despite all these thoughts here he was wandering through a territory that was no longer his own, where he could get into a serious altercation if he failed to talk his way out of a confrontation. Regardless he moved deeper into the territory rather than out of it, humming to himself and enjoying the old sights and the memories they brought. Even if he still looked at them like they happened to a cat that was not himself, not wanting to fall to deeply into them. So caught up in this he almost missed seeing the small shape out of the corner of his eye, but he was aware enough that he did see them. "Hello?" He spoke before his brain could really connect to the outside world again.
[I'm really sorry to hear that, I hope they're doing better!]
"Hi?" Adoxography-tyke called back hurriedly, the squeak of a response raking her entire body with the effort as she spun around in a circle. At this point, the kit was beyond caution. Cold and hungry, any cat would be a sight for sore eyes. Although she'd never admit it, her educational expedition had been far more than she had bargained for. Although it had been fun at first, recognizing that the bugs flocked to water, and the way the birds called to each other in the trees, the hours of aimless wandering had left their mark by way of mucky feet, tired eyes, and a rumbling belly. There was nothing she wanted more than to be back in the tunnels, curled up in her nest. That was, of course, except for a big juicy mouse. On second thought, to hell with a mouse, she could eat an entire rabbit.
"Are you there?" She followed up before too much of a pause, dirty black paws shuffling around in the mud as she tried to decipher where the voice had come from. "You should know!" She called out again, her voice a little gravelly from lack of use. "I'm small, but I'm a very fierce warrior! And I'm not alone! The others will be back very soon." She puffed out her chest, although lost a bit of confidence as she finished her sentence, looking back at the way she came over her shoulder as she tried to think back to when she last saw another cat that smelled like the tunnels. "And it's going to get dark soon..." She mumbled to herself, taking a shaky breath before she steeled herself and puffed back up for the strange cat-- where ever they may be.
