Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Why she had come here she didn't know, but every step she put between her and SunClan weighed her down as if she where carrying stones on her back. At least this time she wasn't running blindly at full speed. She couldn't she just didn't have the energy this time. For once her usually well kept fur was a mess and her blue eyes were glazed over with exhaustion. Coming here was undoubtedly a mistake but she needed someone to talk to, someone she could trust. She wasn't ready to see Beastrefrain or Indigopastels yet, not when she had nothing bad news to tell them. Instead she had come to SwiftClan seeking someone else entirely, though she wasn't exactly sure where to look for him, seeing as none of their pervious meeting had ever actually been intentional.
She was alone when she entered the lands near the SwiftClan camp, but not for long: perched in the treetops at the crest of the nearby hill, a scout saw her coming and quietly signaled their clanmates an intruder was nearby. It was a cautionary warning: they wouldn't chase away a trespasser, but they needed to be aware in case the visiting cat was hostile.
When he saw the signal, the ginger leader headed toward the scout until he was close enough to scent the new cat. Chim's eyes widened in surprise as he recognized the scent. After the battle with SunClan, he didn't expect to ever see her again - she had risked a lot for his clan, though he knew she must have only wanted to keep her family safe. Now that they weren't in danger, she had no reason to be visiting.
Cim slowed down his pace once he was near her and called out warily, "I'm coming out way. If you run into me again, I swear to StarClan I will string you up by your tail and hack off your paws." He wove around the undergrowth to close the distance between them and his expression softened. "What are you doing here, Ruinedportrait?"
At the sound of his voice, her heart began to race. Weak with relief she could sank to the earth right then and there but she didn't. For all her exhaustion, she sudden found her strength restored, if only for the moment. Quickening her pace she hurried to greet the pale ginger tom. At a much slower pace this time she ran to him, this time when they collided it was only enough to nudge the SwiftClan leader back a step or two as she tucked her head under his chin, purring weakly.
After what felt like an eternity what in reality had only been several heartbeats the flame point she-cat took a step back, but couldn't bring herself to look him in the eye. She couldn't She was barely holding herself together and if she told him why she had really come all this way only for him to give her that sad look of his it would completely break her.
When she finally spoke the words came out barely whispered "I just... need someone I can trust."
He halted as she stepped up to him, mingling shock and confusion stopping him in his tracks. They had only met twice and this was completely unexpected from her. If anything he was still partway under the impression that she didn't like him at all and her warning had only been a professional curtesy, but this didn't feel professional anymore.
After a heartbeat, he leaned into her touch, holding her reassuringly. He didn't know what to say, so he just purred, a low hesitant rumble through his entire being. His nose touched her ear briefly; then she was pulling away, and his brow furrowed.
Someone she can trust. Shouldn't that be her family? Was that why she was here, to see them? But she wouldn't have embraced him like that if she was here for the others, she would have flown past him like before. As strange as it was for her to trust him of all cats, he couldn't help feeling the same. She had proved her loyalty to him once, and he already trusted her more than he did his own medicine cat and deputy.
"Come on, we can find somewhere quiet," he murmured, lifting his half-gaze to flicker over the surrounding territory. He felt a little helpless here, he didn't know this place they were moving through, but he saw a creeping cluster of ferns beneath a blackberry bush and ushered her over to it. "Just tell me what you need, anything I can do."
