Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
The crevices of camp offered Crowkit his only reprieve from the derision radiating off his clanmates when they glimpsed at him, the clan's little shadow. He was not markedly noticeable- bearing dark eyes and an even darker pelt, and he didn't often stray out of the overlooked corners- but ever since his mother had given he and his siblings to their father, life had taken a turn for the worse in his opinion. He felt scorn emanate from most, and when that was absent pity was present, but the poor kitten just didn't understand why! The days of carefree laughter and romping through fields with his siblings felt like distant memories, replaced by his bitter reality of skulking by himself and trying to puzzle together what about him was so unlikable.
Valleykit thought she had seen the reflective sheen of another cat's eyes in what she presumed was a shadow, but it could have been a trick of the light, there was no way to be totally sure unless she investigated. So, that'd what she did. The little brown-and-ginger calico fearlessly stuck her head into Crowkit's crevice, speaking at the same time she bumped their heads together, "Hell-o? Ow!" She pulled back, her tongue sticking out. Evidently she had bitten it, "Ow, ow, ow, that smarts!" She cried, pawing at her face gently, tears welling up in her eyes. She wasn't a cry baby like Weepingkit but that hurt!
"Hey, watch it!" A hiss escaped him, blooms of pain stemming through his forehead. He was prepared to look up and see a judging set of eyes; what Crowkit wasn't prepared for was to see Valleykit, tongue out, with her eyes all moist and looking all innocently confused and not seeming the least bit like she was blaming him for breathing. "I- Are you okay?" He quashed the apology before it could be uttered, and instead he offered a shy smile.
"I'm ofay," Valleykit replied, not meeting Crowkit's gaze, she was embarrassed for such a stupid mistake. She knew something was in there, what was she thinking shoving her face in there so quick? What if if it had snake or some other dangerous creature? If it hadn't killed her, then her mom would have. Sighing, she drew her tongue back into her mouth and winced as her saliva made the tiny cut sting, although the pain faded quickly, all it felt now was sore, "How about you? I didn't hurt you did I? I'm so rammy, I don't know what I was thinking! I'm..." Seeing his dark pelt, Valleykit soon recognized the tom as Crowkit, and fell silent. She was a very tolerant she-cat - like her father, Oakshade - but had been born and raised in the cult, taught to fear crows and those who were tied to them. Crowkit probably wouldn't have missed the flash of discomfort that graced her delicate features, but she quickly replaced it with an awkward smile, "... sorry."
Nightmarekit sat quietly nearby, watching the entire incident unfold with narrowed sapphire blue eyes. She was an outcast, much like Crowkit. Many cats talked but she couldnt understand why. They said she was found at the Sunclan border but there was much of the story of where she came from missing. She could not escape the judging gazes of her clan mates and as each day went by, she found herself growing more and more bitter. She couldn't help but feel like she didn't belong in Sunclan. It was clear she just didn't fit in. Not like her sister, Angelickit did. Nightmarekit often observed Crowkit, curious if he ever felt the same way she did. The small jet black she-kit felt her hackles bristle when she realized Valleykit's sudden change in voice when she realized just who she had bumped into. Though, she remained seated until she was for sure Valleykit was going to keep her mouth shut. If Valleykit was going to pick on someone like her, she was going to step in and give Valleykit an earful. She was tired of being judged by judgey Sunclan cats.
He felt himself disarmed by the way she stumbled over apologies and fretted over his well being. He felt important. He felt cared for. But that's when he saw it- the lapse in her composure as her gaze drew upward- and his walls were back up, blocking off any emotions before they could dawn his expression. "I'm fine," sniped the kitten, and it took all his willpower not to scowl. Instead, his features were now coldly neutral. Sharper than ice. Crowkit hadn't yet noticed Nightmarekit, though if he had, he probably would have preferred her company over Valleykit's.
Valleykit was not convinced, but she decided not to push it. She backed away from the hole to give Crowkit more room and changed the subject, "What are you doing crammed back there? Are you stuck or something...?"
She noticed Nightmarekit as her voice trailed off and she suddenly felt very awkward. Nightmarekit was a bit of an outcast like Crowkit but unliked him, she was claimed as the High Priest's daughter. Valleykit certainly did not want to be on her bad side nor did she want a high profile cat like her to see what had just happened. She squirmed slightly where she sat, "... I... uh... I can help you, if you want."
