Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
"Only moments after Snowbunny (Faith) and Frostcloud (Spot) were announced as a couple they were forcibly herded into a small cozy den before being sealed inside with some large rocks. They were each told that they would be confined in the den for twenty-four hours together before their wedding would take place the following night. Within the cozy den were an assortment of flowers and herbs strung about the den. The scent was strong, thick with the aroma of lavender and vanilla. Both scents meant to be soothing agents to force a calm relaxing vibe. Off to the left side were an assortment of foliage, freshly cut flowers and other decorations meant for the couple to decorate one another with for their upcoming wedding. The more extravagant and detailed the couple would accessorize themselves with, the more it symbolized a happy marriage. They could not dress themselves up, only each other.
This is the time for the couple to exchange pleasantries, get to know one another, and plan their futures together."
(if you would like a wedding thread later on, please message me or one of the staff, thank you.)
"No!" Frostcloud tried to object but it was too late. Wintrystar had already made up her mind and now she was being locked in a den with the cat she hated the most in her clan. She clawed at the rock that closed them in and growled in frustration. "This cant be happening!" She spun around and faced Snowbunny, icy blue eyes blazing with fury. "I can't believe I am to be married to you!" She hissed. "Did you have something to do with this arrangement?" Her fur bristled and her claws raked the ground below her. If he had something to do with Wintrystar choosing them to be married, she was going to claw one of his ears off. Possibly both. She knew about the arranged marriages Wintrystar was doing but this seemed far too coincidental.
Snowbunny hadn't expected Wintrystar to forcibly arrange every warriors marriage, but he also hadn't expected what happened in the prison either. Since he was a tyke he was raised to be obedient and loyal. If Wintrystar wanted this then there was little he could do, he was her knight, if he fought against this then so would the other warriors. His cheeks were bright with embarrassment the entire time he was being led into the den, but only when he watched in despair is the rock sealed them inside did the dread really settle in. He was expected to be Frostcloud's mate, not Chestnutspeck's.
"I didn't." He said simply in response to Frostcloud. He had to get over his panic, there was no getting out of here just like there was no getting out of this situation. For a brief moment he removed himself from the situation, thinking hard from a scouts point of view, not as himself, wondering why this had happened before it all clicked, "It's our fur colors and status," He concluded before raising his head to meet her eyes, "You had heard the way she spoke when she brought this up to us for the first time. She's doing this in the hopes that all these marriages gives the clan kits, that's what she really cares about. And of course that's what you would care about, your status! I don't like this either, you work so hard to humiliate me everyday, you've never stopped treating me like an outsider. So y'know what, you're right to be panicking because every other day you can bully and humiliate me, but not on my wedding day. Because Wintrystar said I can dress you up however I like and I intend to be very creative, Frostcloud." Her name came out like he were saying a repulsive word, but she could catch the teasing smile on his face. He was trying to act cruel to her, but his childish smile got in the way too much at his attempt to act like her, "Hey, how do you feel about walking down the aisle in front of everyone in the clan wearing smashed blueberries on your face? And this really cool flower," He said holding up some snapdragons, "Hey, actually can I wear this flower, it looks real cool!"
Frostcloud was taken back by his sudden harsh words but it infuriated her even more when she realized he was just teasing. "You think this is some joke?" She growled. Of course what he had said made sense. Their fur color was nearly identical except for Frostcloud's gray ears and the slight gray lining her nose. She began to pace, thinking on what Snowbunny had said, forcing herself not to take a claw across his smug face. Then, she halted, a light bulb going off in her head. "I've got it! I know how we can get out of this! But you may not like it."
"Wha-? No, you bee brain!" Frostcloud scoffed. "We give Wintrystar exactly what she wants! Kits!" She held up a paw to silence him before he could say anything. "Wait. Before you say anything, believe me, the last thing I want is to have kits with you. However, this is what Wintrystar wants and the only way to get a divorce is to have at least one litter of kits with the cat you were paired with. So, we do the wedding and we get married. Then, after a reasonable amount of time, you and I will go to each clan and steal any white kits that we can claim as ours! It doesn't even have to be an entire litter! One or two would hopefully convince her! It would be unfortunate for the kits and other clans but this is our best chance to get a divorce. We just have to deal with being married until we can convince Wintrystar that I had kits with you while not actually having kits."
"What!?" Snowbunny shouted before looking behind him as though expecting the whole clan to be there watching them, but of course they weren't. "Frostcloud, that's insane," he replied back, before a moment of realization hit him as well, "Although, how interesting of little miss perfect, always following the rules, telling everyone there are no exceptions to them. But the minute the rules inconvenience you they can be bent and you can interpret them however you like. And before I even entertain your traitorous plan, may I just ask, what's going to happen when we divorce and you must marry again? Unless you have someone in mind who's going to say yes you'll get paired again with someone random cat. What are you going to do when the next time you're sitting here hatching an escape plan that unwanted future mate of yours rats you out or blackmail you for whatever they want out of you?"
Frostcloud's expression went from hopeful to downright furious again in a blink of an eye. "I do follow the rules! Technically, I'm not breaking any. I'm twisting them so I don't get stuck with you for the rest of my life! Are you telling me you want to be stuck with me forever instead of Chestnutspeck?" She challenged. "Yeah, that's right. I know about you and the Witch's Pupil. There's chemistry between the two of you. An awkward vibe through the air when you two are together. So, you can either be stuck with me bullying you for the rest of our lives or you can help me trick Wintrystar and ask Chestnutspeck, yourself, to be your mate before it's too late! You get a second chance to find love." Suddenly, her expression turned from anger to realization that she was alone. She had Penguinpond but he was in Dayclan. The two of them may never get to be with each other. They were both loyal to their clans and while there was a spark between them, she didn't think it was enough to start the flame they needed.
Frostcloud sat down, suddenly feeling her heart ache. The ice protecting her fragile heart beginning to melt. At least Snowbunny had someone. She had no one. "Don't worry about me. Just because I won't have my happily ever after, doesn't mean you shouldn't...So, if not for me, do it for yourself and Chestnutspeck."
Snowbunny's ears twitched in irritation, but found them easily leaning back at the mention of Chestnutspeck. Of course he liked Chestnutspeck, anyone with eyes could see that. Wintrystar either was blind to what was in front of her or didn't want him to be paired up with Chestnutspeck, he guessed the ladder. Chestnutspeck and him were both small, they would produce small kits, they would be half bloods, they wouldn't be ideal camouflage fur colors for the winter environment either. Bottom line was that their love wasn't enough, even if Frostcloud and him broke a part Wintrystar was still unlikely to approve them ever. Plus if he lied, stole outsiders kits, there was no doubt the Gods he also needed on his side wouldn't approve either.
He kicked over the mess of items piled up for them to decorate one another with. His eyes shining beneath his moppy hair, spotting something glimmering beneath the surface.
From behind Frostcloud she could hear the echo of something hollow hitting the ground before thumping, followed by a soft pitter patter noise. Snowbunny was seated behind her, in his paw was a purple geode that he turned over, thumping the back of the stone on the ground. He turned the geode over in his paw patting it down on the ground once more before drumming his paw against the smooth stone. He kept a serene rhythm in place as he did, "I'm not leaving you, there's nothing you can do, I'll be your best bud, for you, forev-er. It'll be Frosty and Bunny for moons to come now and I don't want you to be sad so wipe those tears. We'll look out for each other, move past the bad weather. I know you don't trust me, but I want you to know... I'm not leaving you, there's nothing you can do, I'll be your best bud, for you, forev-er. I'll be your best bud, for you, forev-er♩♫♫♩♫" [in the tune of feelings are fatal by mxmtoon]
Snowbunny looked up from the geode smiling at Frostcloud, "Sorry, but I've decided until you find your prince charming I'm not leaving you. But when you do find your special someone, I'll do whatever it takes for you to live happily ever after. I promise. That and I kind of figured, you can't hate me more than you already do so there's no harm in me being stubborn," He said, his smile turning into a small teasing grin, but the heart felt expression was still visible.
Frostcloud perked her ears in surprise as she listened to his song. He was sweet and had a kind heart. She was suddenly seeing him in a new light and everything just felt brighter. Here he was willing to stay with her after all she had said and done to him so that she wouldnt be alone. "Y'know, perhaps I was wrong about you, Snowbunny. I guess I'll admit that you have more loyalty in you than any Winterclan warrior I have ever met and you don't even have Winterclan blood. I'll probably always give you a hard time but you have done something that is incredibly hard to do. That is earning my respect. Your willing to give up your own happiness for a clan mate and for your clan. You have my respect." She dipped her head. "Though, that song was pretty terrible." She chuckled, lifting her head again and giving him a playful nudge.
"Hey, well, I guess I better get used to your hazing then," He said bashfully, blushing at her nudge. He had too many military values to talk back to Frostcloud, even if he someday trained hard enough to feel equal to her knight status it would still feel strange to. But after tomorrow night all of WinterClan would look at them as mates, the only people who wouldn't would be them. At least now they were friends, even though Frostcloud could only treat an outsider so well. He couldn't blame her, he definitely didn't like any outsiders when he was a Regime cat, but he did warm up to those who proved themselves. Even now he didn't like outsiders in WinterClan, but would accept anyone who showed loyalty and promise.
Thinking of outsiders brought him back to the prison that night with Bluejay. The two hadn't really talked about it, they couldn't in the public eye, but here they could. "Um, since no one can listen in on us in here, what do you think about Bluejay and her kits? I notice that they're usually covered in bruises and scrapes, sometimes I hear their tiny cries in the nursery, no doubt Dottymask punishing them. I don't know, I want to help, but they are demons, do you think it's a trick? That we shouldn't concern ourselves."
She was surprised Snowbunny would bring up something so dark after their ground breaking moment. The last thing that she wanted was to talk about Bluejay. Since her "heroic" moment in the prison, Frostcloud had not attempted to stand up against Wintrystar again. She managed to get Wintrystar to spare the kits' lives and that was all she could do for them. Though, at this point, it was probably worse than death. However, if she continued to fight for those demons, Wintrystar would surely question her loyalty and she could possibly lose her position. If she was no longer a knight, nothing she said would ever matter any more and she would never be able to protect her clan in the same way again. She opened her mouth to respond but nothing came out. She wasn't entirely sure what to say. A part of her wanted to protect the demon kits but another part of her wanted to follow orders like the soldier she was. She shut her jaws and exhaled, drawing her gaze away from Snowbunny's. "I-I...I don't know what to think, to be honest." She said at last, closing her eyes for a brief moment before reopening them. "I often try not to listen to their cries, attempting to drown them out by stuffing moss in my ears but it usually is unsuccessful. Though, I keep reminding myself that they are demons. Their life is not going to be easy and while they are suffering now, they will grow strong one day and Wintrystar will finally get what she deserves. She's so afraid of these demons that she doesn't realize she's the one creating them." At that, she lifted her gaze back to Snowbunny's, her expression concerned. "They will either save Winterclan or be it's destruction."
"So that's the agreement then, we'll treat them like demons? Their mom came up to me earlier, wanted me to help Fallenkit out with some early studies. I said yes, but anything I do now reflects on you so maybe I should just make it a one day thing," He said warily because he knew Frostcloud was right. They would grow up to here help or destroy WinterClan, but he doubted they would do anything, but start chaos. Wintrystar was never going to let them grow up to be strong warriors, he could tell the moment he saw that look in her eyes that day. They could be kind hearted, brave, a true warrior and they would still be treated worse than prey. At least you thanked prey, there would be no gratitude to these kits.
Frostcloud let out a sigh. "Listen, Snowbunny. I had a good run. I worked hard and became the one thing I always wanted to be - memorable. I am well known throughout the clans for my thick skin and skills but...I've always followed orders. That's how I got here. Everything was always orders and I was that good little soldier that did what she was told and never considered disobedience or defiance. But...since that night in the prison...with Wintrystar ordering Lionwhisper to kill the kit...and...he didn't because he knew it was wrong. Before that day, I probably would have killed that kit because it was an order. But seeing that what Wintrystar was doing was wrong, I just...reacted and stood up for those kits even though they're demons because they were still innocent kits." Frostcloud looked Snowbunny in the eyes. "You help Fallenkit. You make the clan see that their mother's choices do not define their future. I don't care what it does to me. For once, I'm tired of being a soldier."
Snowbunny must have been staring too long because he looked away when Frostcloud finished, "Okay." He seemed more quiet now as he curled up into a ball, thinking, weighing his options only to realize that there really weren't any options, none that he wanted. This was his home, he was going to be expected to tell Wintrystar the truth about what the deities say even if he might disagree with them. He was going to have to initiate all these unwanted marriages, tell people the disappointing news that they can't divorce. This was just going to be his life now, but he also couldn't leave. He could see that his friend Snakefang had something going on, he didn't know what, but he couldn't leave him to deal with it all by himself. He also couldn't leave Frostcloud to be mates with someone who would use her. One way or another they would figure everything out together.
